    Chapter 118 - Fun

The interior decoration of the establishment was as Wen Ying had expected, but the scene inside made his heart skip a beat.

Furry! A group of humanoid monsters walking around! Adorable, beautiful, alluring, and muscular...

Wen Ying felt that his eyes weren't enough to take everything in. Demons naturally had more attractive appearances than humans, and the ones in this shop were no exception. Even for Wen Ying, who was used to seeing the powerful demon students in his class, the staff here rated pretty high on the attractiveness scale.

"How is it?" Muershi walked down and stood on the stairs behind Wen Ying, looking down at him with a grin. He leaned closer to observe Wen Ying's expression. "Isn't this place nice?"

Wen Ying nodded. "I feel like this store has a high-end atmosphere."

"It really does have a great ambiance," Muershi stepped over Wen Ying and went down the stairs. "Come, let's find a place to sit first."

Following Muershi, they arrived at a booth by the wall. Before Wen Ying could even sit down, a demon with cat ears approached them, beaming warmly. "Lord Muershi, are you bringing a friend to play tonight?"

Wen Ying's gaze shifted from the cat ears to Muershi. "Seems like you're a regular here."

Muershi sat down on a plush sofa, stretching out his hand in a flirtatious manner towards the staff member. The staff handed Muershi a folder, which Muershi promptly passed to Wen Ying.

"Suspected criminal or not," Muershi said, "the snacks here are delicious. Take a look."

The clipboard held pages the size of A4 paper, detailing the staff at this establishment. Wen Ying sat down and began to read the first page when the cat-eared attendant approached with a smile. "May I sit?"

Wen Ying gazed at his ears and nodded.

The delighted cat-eared demon sat down and pointed to the papers on the clipboard. "Myrmidon is quite lively; if you like that sort of demon, he'd be an excellent companion. If you prefer something more seductive, the one further down might suit your taste. What type of demon do you fancy? Male or female?"

The cat-eared demon's voice was cheerful and sweet, but what captivated Wen Ying were the way his ears twitched and his tail swished as he spoke. Most of his attention was focused on those features, so he didn't give much thought to the demon's words. He hesitantly replied, "I'll choose you, it's my first time in a place like this."

The demon with cat ears widened his eyes slightly. "Do you like me? What an honor." As he spoke, he drew closer and tentatively wrapped his arm around Wen Ying's.

"The truth is, no demons really picked me, so I ended up as part of the welcoming committee," the demon said, his ears drooping. "Lately, it seems like everyone in the capital doesn't favor cute demons."

Wen Ying gently withdrew his arm and said bashfully, "I actually prefer the cute ones."

The demon's eyes sparkled. "Cute demons are good, right!"

Fixing his gaze on the demon's ears, Wen Ying nodded vigorously. He found this little sweet cat demon to be unreservedly enthusiastic, so he ventured cautiously, "Can I touch your ears?"

The demon with cat ears perked up, his cheeks flushed as he knelt on the sofa, reaching out to grab Wen Ying's hand, placing it on his head.

Feeling the delightful texture, Wen Ying gently massaged the ear, sensing that the entire realm of demons had somehow been elevated.

Muershi, observing the two demons on the opposite sofa, pressed the back of his hand against his lips and chuckled, "They probably have no idea why you're actually here."

Wen Ying shot him a glare.

Suddenly, another demon approached from the side. It was a fox demon, appearing as a youthful figure with a cold yet alluring appearance. He sat down next to Muershi with ease, leaning against him in a delicate, boneless manner. With a voice that tickled the ears, he said, "Lord Muershi, it's been a while since you've visited. I've missed you so much."

Looking at the seductive fox demon across from him and then at the slightly plump-cheeked, feline demon beside him, Wen Ying realized that the atmosphere on his side seemed suitable for those under 18, whereas the opposite side seemed more suited for those above.

    "Is this your friend?"

The fox demon sized up Wen Ying. Despite the dim lighting in the shop, it was hard to overlook Wen Ying's silver-white hair. Generally, demons with silver-white hair were not fighters, and he was curious why Muershi would bring such a demon along.

Mao Li felt displeased, his ears puffing up in hostility towards the fox demon. Wen Ying raised his hand to stroke Mao Li's ears soothingly.

"He's my friend. This is Wen Ying, a Mirror Demon."

The fox demon was taken aback. A Mirror Demon? That race known for their mediocrity? But soon, with the magic card in mind, he pieced together more information. He grinned and said, "You're that legendary Mirror Demon who ranked first in Lucifer Academy's tournament, right? Surprising, I thought you'd be extraordinary, but turns out you're quite approachable."

"Mao Li?" The cat-eared demon looked at Wen Ying curiously, unable to perceive any sign of strength that would warrant being ranked first in the academy.

Powerful demons naturally commanded respect. Even without intentionally exerting his aura, Muershi across from him gave off an underlying sense of danger that deterred any ill intentions. However, this Mirror Demon beside him didn't exude any such feeling.

How did he manage to surpass all those talented demons to claim the top spot?

Looking at the adorable cat-eared demon with widened eyes, Wen Ying couldn't resist rubbing his ears again. Mao Li narrowed his eyes slightly, blushing.

"He's quite skilled," Muershi, holding the fox demon, commented. "Don't let his harmless appearance deceive you. He's cunning and sly. Don't fall for it."

The fox demon shook his head. "I really can't tell."

Muershi's hand lazily stroked the fox demon's long hair. "Wen Ying, I thought you'd choose a canine demon."

Wen Ying paused in his petting of Mao Li, a gloomy, cold face flashing through his mind. He couldn't help comparing this lively, affectionate demon beside him - fulfilling every human's fantasy of a cat - with that unpredictable one who might scratch you at any moment.

Wen Ying sighed. "I'm easily satisfied."

His peripheral vision caught sight of a demon in a nearby booth who looked eerily familiar. Upon closer inspection, holy moly, wasn't that the succubus Essence and the cat demon Wei Er? There was also a demon with rabbit ears beside them, whom he vaguely recalled as Nian from their class.

"You only noticed now?" Muershi chuckled, his expression sly, clearly harboring some ulterior motive.

Wen Ying suddenly recalled the scene after school today when he had asked Muershi to show him around. Muershi had agreed readily and immediately led him to this establishment. Now, with this unexpected twist, he found the entire situation suspicious.

Essence had also noticed their presence and approached them.

Not being particularly thick-skinned, Wen Ying nudged aside the cat-like demon beside him, creating a slight distance between them.

"Manager," the feline demon's vivacious voice took on a note of restraint.

    "Manager?!!" Wen Ying was flabbergasted.

Essence placed one hand on his hip. Compared to the fox demon beside Muershi, he appeared even sexier under the dim lighting. Without any overt gestures, his mere stance and a single glance could plunge a demon into a world of sensual fantasies. In this setting, Essence's innate charm as a succubus seemed all the more terrifying.

Thankfully, the other party didn't have furry ears or a tail, which helped Wen Ying regain his composure quickly. He turned to Muershi and asked, "What's going on?"

Wei Er, standing next to Essence, was the first to inquire with confusion, "Wen Ying, are you here to observe how to charm and captivate others too?"

Wen Ying: "..." He suddenly understood everything. He slowly turned his head to look at Muershi, who gave him a mischievous grin with animated eyebrows.

Muershi said suggestively, "There will be more fun later."

This guy probably did something during the day, like giving a hint to the demons in class – you can visit that kind of shop to see how the demons charm and attract others, then apply it to humans.

Wen Ying's expression was odd. "Those guys seem pretty proud. I doubt there'll be any real fun to watch."

The ones who would come over were likely to be like Wei Er, not the likes of Beros or Wu Shaluo, who wouldn't learn how to sweet-talk their way into someone's heart.

"Only one way to find out," Muershi said with an air of certainty.

Essence sat down, and Mao Li stood up to give him a seat. Wen Ying looked at the fleeing ear with regret. Essence noticed and asked the same question as Muershi earlier, "I thought you liked the dog-like demons like Beros."

Mao Li was the complete opposite of Beros in every way.

"I just came to pet the ears," Wen Ying said irritably, "not to fall in love."

Both Mao Li and Essence were taken aback by Wen Ying's words. In the demon world, there weren't many demons with such... peculiar preferences.

Wen Ying felt an isolating melancholy from the world's disapproval.

"Hey, sit down quickly. Don't get caught. A demon is coming," Muershi noticed the shadow at the stairway and immediately pushed away the fox demon in his embrace. He pulled Wei Er and Nian to take a seat.

The booth's sofa was just big enough for three demons. They looked curiously at the entrance.

"Holy shit..." Wen Ying muttered softly, but even at that volume, his shock was palpable.

"I didn't expect someone as big as Phileas to be the first one here," Muershi intended to give Wen Ying a teasing look, but Wen Ying was too focused to notice.

Wen Ying's eyes were glued to Phileas, who exuded an icy aura that seemed to freeze the air around him. The demon's androgynous, delicate features revealed no emotions. Behind him, his iridescent butterfly wings seemed to cast a different kind of light.

Beautiful though he was, the powerful demon's sharp and arrogant gaze made most of the demons present avoid direct eye contact.

Phileas frowned slightly and approached a demon who appeared to be a staff member, saying, "Recommend me the demon here who's best at pleasing others."
