Chapter 84: Winning the Prize
byChapter 84: Winning the Lottery
"It feels different to view this mobile game from a demon's perspective compared to a human's," Wen Ying commented.
Beros was puzzled. "A human perspective?"
"Nothing important."
Today, Hell Orange's costume was still that of a hellhound. Upon closer inspection, Wen Ying noticed that the appearance of the hellhound in the game did resemble the real demonic race of hellhounds in the Underworld.
He glanced at the wild cosplayers beside him and found that each race had characteristics that matched their real-life counterparts.
An exorcist had created a demon-themed mobile game? What were they after? Was it a trap to catch them during an exhibition? The cost and gain didn't seem to balance out - it wasn't worth such a grand display just for a few intermediate demons.
Wen Ying pondered as he stroked Beros on his shoulder.
Like the exorcists who had collaborated with the extremist faction, their motives were unknown... Wen Ying blinked. There were many rookie exorcists here, easy targets. He wondered if their blood would satisfy Aruda.
Wen Ying began scanning the crowd for exorcists with stronger magical powers. So far, the strongest one he had seen was his former favorite, Hell Orange, whose revelation as an exorcist had left Wen Ying feeling betrayed.
Hell Orange seemed to sense something and glanced over the crowd, noticing only Wen Ying. He was easy to spot in the crowd.
Wen Ying pushed down his hat slightly and bowed his head, appearing rather reserved.
Feeling the gaze on him shift away, Wen Ying finally raised his head.
Perseus said, "That exorcist has some style, and his taste isn't bad either."
Wen Ying: "..." He realized that Perseus might not be simply arrogant; he probably had a touch of narcissism as well.
He didn't refute Perseus but instead started toying with him aimlessly. At first, Perseus resisted fiercely, but now he had given up and allowed Wen Ying to touch him however he pleased without even blinking.
After all, it wouldn't cause him to lose a single hair, nor would any other demons find out.
The concert began soon, and the lively atmosphere on-site escalated.
Wen Ying stayed on the scene, quietly observing his surroundings. He spotted twelve intermediate demons in total, all of whom were captured. There were at least fifty exorcists, mostly beginners, with the strongest being Hell Orange.
It felt like a demon-themed handheld game exhibition had turned into an exorcist nest. Wen Ying's emotions were mixed, but he was glad he had initially suppressed his demonic aura, or else he would have been targeted from the moment he entered.
The music boomed as the raffle approached. Wen Ying held his ticket, watching as Hell Orange drew the grand prize winner from the box.
"The grand prize goes to the lucky holder of ticket number ending in 2876."
Wen Ying froze, staring at the ticket in his hand, double and triple-checking that the last four digits were indeed 2876.
"Is the audience member with the ticket ending in 2876 here?" Hell Orange repeated into the microphone, "Everyone, please check your ticket numbers carefully, don't miss out on this grand prize."
Wen Ying was torn. The grand prize was a one-of-a-kind merchandise created by the organizers, along with limited edition items, and even ten rare devil dolls. He had previously collected them, but they were all burned by a low-level demon clown.
Now he had a chance to reclaim them.
But... would it be alright for a high-ranking devil like him to get close to an exorcist and take a photo together?
Wen Ying was in agony. Perseus glanced at the last digits of Wen Ying's ticket and asked, "Do you want to go up there?"
Wen Ying nodded, almost blurting out about the numerous rare dolls at stake. Thankfully, the memory of Perseus stopping him from buying souvenirs flashed through his mind, and he held his tongue.
"I've never won such a big prize in this devil mobile game," Wen Ying said. All he had were bitter memories of spending hundreds of dollars on draws without getting the SSR character he desired.
"They probably won't expect to find high-ranking demons here," Beros commented. "If you suppress your demonic aura, they usually won't detect it."
Wen Ying's internal balance tilted in favor of staying.
"Wait just one more minute! The grand prize this time includes a complete set of limited-edition souvenirs from this exhibition. Once it's gone, it's gone for good!"
Determined, Wen Ying's gaze sharpened. He raised the ticket in his hand. "The last four digits of my ticket number are 2876!"
"B???" What was that guy on stage saying? All the souvenirs?
