    Chapter 90: An Accident

No one paid attention to the blood that had vanished from the ground and the small mirror stained with it.

While Wen Ying was stealthily absorbing the blood, the office had turned into a battlefield. These weren't exorcists, but rather destructive huskies. In just ten minutes, there wasn't a single intact table, chair, or cabinet in the room. It was a complete mess.

The skull's power was still rising, making it stronger. There were many of its avatars in the office, attacking people without discrimination. As low-level demons instinctively craved blood, each skull opened its mouth wide to bite. However, most of these avatars were destroyed before they could digest their prey, spilling blood across the floor. The sight of blood stains covering the entire office sent chills up one's spine.

Wen Ying moved furtively to absorb the blood, but soon stopped.

This won't do. Most of the blood came from those weaklings. There's hardly any of Wei Ranfeng's...

Just as Wen Ying thought this, a beam of light shot from the reception area, piercing straight through Wei Ranfeng's abdomen, causing a massive amount of bleeding.

Wen Ying: "..." This wasn't necessary. It would only make him feel more guilty. The bleeding definitely had nothing to do with him.

"Aaaahhhhh——" Upon seeing the wound on Wei Ranfeng's abdomen, with blood seeping through his hands, the boss Wang's eyes rolled back, and he fainted.

Mo Yuanbai: "Damn, he's too cowardly."

"Senior Brother Wei, are you alright?" Xi Liu rushed over, pulling out medicine from her bag.

"The skeleton is just a low-level demon, right? And what's that bead?" Wen Renyue, another girl, sounded incredulous. They had come here for fun tonight, so how did it turn into a bloody battle?

    Wei Ranfeng cursed inwardly.

Perched on an air conditioner unit outside, Boreas yawned lazily, his gaze lackluster as he looked at the human city below.

"Young Master Wei, I'm here to help!"

Suddenly, a man leaped in from outside, landing gracefully on the ground. A burst of magical energy preceded him, separating the black bead from Wei Ranfeng before he advanced with his weapon drawn.

Wei Ranfeng retreated a few steps, catching his breath and applying magic ointment to his wounded abdomen.

That black bead seemed to possess the strength of an intermediate demon. Normally, he wouldn't be so hindered by such injuries, but tonight was just too damn unlucky.

Swearing under his breath, Wei Ranfeng wondered if it was really a bad day to go out.

However, there were significant disparities in strength among intermediate demons themselves. This black bead felt different from other intermediate demons he had encountered, particularly those captured at yesterday's exhibition.

His intuition had been sounding alarms nonstop.

"Please hold on a moment..." Wei Ranfeng was about to say that he needed to tend to his abdominal wound first, but the magical energy condensed in the exorcist's enchanted weapon suddenly flew backward towards their position.

Wei Ranfeng's pupils constricted. The distance was too close, and there was no time to react.

    "Senior Brother Wei?!"

Mo Yuanbai nearly dropped the wooden sword he held in shock.

Wen Ying rushed over, only to be blocked by another attack from the exorcist.

"What do you mean by this?!" Mo Yuanbai reacted with fury.

Wei Ranfeng's wound from the black bead's earlier attack on his abdomen hadn't healed yet, and now he had an additional, explosive cross-shaped slash. His body instinctively curled forward, cold sweat dripping down his forehead as his ears rang.

Earlier, Wen Ying had stealthily approached Wei Ranfeng's feet, absorbing the blood that had spilled from his abdomen onto the ground. He dared not absorb it too quickly or too much, instead taking his time. Before he could finish one wave of warmth, another fresh batch arrived. This time, he didn't need to sneak around anymore; the blood splattered directly onto him as he remained at Wei Ranfeng's feet.

As Wen Ying absorbed the blood, he assessed the newly emerged exorcist. Indeed, it was the same one he had been following in the afternoon.

"What else could it mean?" The man's smile was unsettling as he appraised Wei Ranfeng, much like a venomous snake coiling in the darkness, ready to strike.

Wei Ranfeng rubbed his temple to alleviate the ringing in his ears. Seeing the black bead halt its attack and the floating skull ornaments, he grasped the situation. He held back the charging Mo Yuanbai and gritted his teeth, whispering, "You're a traitor among exorcists."

"A traitor?" Xi Liu was still puzzled.

Wen Renyue clenched his teeth in fury. "Those are the despicable exorcists who collaborate with demons!"

The man clapped his hands and chuckled. "I relish watching a pedigreed dog's impotent howl in its final moments. Since you know who I am, you should be aware of what I intend to do, right?"

Wei Ranfeng let out a derisive chuckle, his voice tinged with lethargy despite the searing pain in his abdomen. "I must say, it's quite an honor to discover that my body has caught the attention of those demons from the Demon Realm. Who would've thought?"

    "Ahaha."

"Something's amiss..." Wen Ren Yue furrowed his brow, casting a glance at the window behind him. There was a barrier in place, isolating all scent and sound, and preventing them from leaving the room.

The man spread his arms, and the black beads behind him began to spin, emitting an ominous black mist from within their depths.

"This black bead was transported from the Demon Realm by those demons. It contains an intermediate-level demon they captured from their realm. Though it's an intermediate-level demon, it's not comparable to an intermediate-level demon in the Human Realm."

"Not only that, the bead contains a teleportation spell. It weakens the barrier to the point where it can create a portal between the human and demon realms at any time. The materials used to craft it are incredibly precious. You should consider yourself fortunate to have been captured and transported by it."

Though this man talked a lot, he wasn't the typical villainous character from TV dramas who only spoke but never took action, eventually meeting their demise due to excessive chatter. As he spoke, the black bead behind him continuously emitted black mist, indicating that it was "activating."

Mo Yuanbai and his companions weren't motionless; they were simply unable to move. The oppressive power of the demonic energy emanating from the black bead weighed them down as if they were carrying hundreds of pounds.

"Saddened to bid you farewell," the man said with a smile. His expression turned fierce, and a beam of light rope shot out from the black mist behind him.

While Mo Yuanbai and the others were immobilized, Wei Ranfeng could still move. However, he didn't act recklessly and remained crouched on the ground, conserving his strength.

Spotting the light rope emerging from the fog, Wei Ranfeng grabbed something from the ground and threw it towards the shrouded bead.

Wen Ying, who had been stealthily absorbing blood and was suddenly yanked and thrown, was utterly confused: "???"

After a brief sensation of weightlessness, Wen Ying felt something collide with his back. He heard cracking sounds, followed by objects falling to the ground.

Staring at the astonished expressions of the others with their eyes wide open, Wen Ying was unsure whether he should remain suspended in mid-air or fall to the ground along with whatever was behind him.

"Senior Brother Wei! You're incredible!" Mo Yuanbai's junior siblings looked at Wei Ranfeng, who was kneeling on one knee, with shining eyes.

Wei Ranfeng looked utterly bewildered. "Uh..."

"How did you do that?!" The man's shock turned to rage. "What kind of enchanted item is that mirror? It shattered the Black Magic Pearl in one blow!"

He had seen the mirror move straight ahead, effortlessly piercing through the layers of protective magic around the Black Soul Pearl as if they were mere paper windows. Despite the inherent toughness of the Black Soul Pearl, the mirror managed to break it after being drained by the initial barriers, showcasing its immense power.

It wasn't surprising for powerful enchanted items to exist in the human world. However, for an exorcist like Wei Ranfeng to possess such a formidable item was almost unbelievable.

Boros yawned again, this time on top of the air conditioner unit.
