Chapter 92: Innocence
byChapter 92: The Innocent Child
Boros paused his swinging fist, gritting his teeth as he roared, "Wen Ying, do you dare to be any more useless?"
Wen Ying rolled his eyes inwardly. With his current unsteady gait, he would only end up being beaten. He quickly ran from the garden into the castle, and the first one to greet him was Little Bai.
Little Bai slapped its thick front paw on the ground, leaping onto Wen Ying's shoulder, facing Boros and spitting out a ball of demonic energy.
"Good boy," Wen Ying praised swiftly, embracing the creature on his shoulder as he rushed through the entrance.
Boros crushed the ball of demonic energy spat at him by Little Bai, his red eyes darkening with the accumulated humiliation and anger of the past two days.
It was still too late. By the time Boros entered the living room, Wen Ying had already taken cover behind the kindly old lady. Boros's surging demonic energy could not be fully contained, like a drawn sword with an imposing presence and sharp edge.
"My Lord Aruda," Boros said, casting a glance at Wen Ying that conveyed, 'You're doomed.'
"Why are you fighting again?" Aruda sighed. "Don't always fight; it damages relationships."
Wen Ying nodded in strong agreement, while Boros nearly broke his back molars in frustration. "You know what you've done," he growled.
Wen Ying avoided his gaze and changed the subject. "Grandma, I brought you demon slayer's blood, as well as one who's involved with the Extremists. He's waiting outside."
"Good."
Aluda walked out, and Wen Ying followed closely behind. Looking at his timid demeanor, Beros' eyes, veiled by hostility, flickered with contemplation before he strode out and headed straight for the door.
As Beros brushed past Wen Ying, he whispered, "Expect me tomorrow."
Little Bai puffed his fur up, doubling his size visually, and breathed towards him.
Wen Ying raised his right hand to stroke Little Bai on his shoulder, thinking that perhaps Beros had lost his mind. By tomorrow, he wouldn't be under the "Confusion Spell," free from any negative status, and with some magic potions, he would be able to overpower Beros.
While Aluda examined the unconscious man, Wen Ying took out four small bottles from his spatial bracelet and handed them to Aluda. "Grandma, these bottles contain the blood of different demon slayers. Three novices and one who's quite skilled."
Aluda took them and waved his hand in the air, causing the lids of the bottles to float. Sniffing their contents, he said, "Four samples should suffice for some analysis."
Without paying attention to the unconscious man on the ground, Aluda proceeded into the castle. Confused, Wen Ying took a step forward, about to ask how they would deal with this demon slayer connected to the Extremists, when countless magical vines sprang from the earth, entwining and killing the still-unconscious man. His blood seeped into the soil, and the vines emerging from the ground dragged the corpse beneath.
Wen Ying's pupils constricted, momentarily stunned. The "Confusion Spell" instantly lifted.
Aluda turned back and sighed, "He still has an innocent heart."
Wen Ying abruptly turned his head to look at her, more shocked than when he saw that man being killed so effortlessly.
Just how thick was Aluda's filter to say that he had an innocent heart? Leaving aside others, even his demonic classmates and the extremist demons would likely think there was something wrong with her vision.
"But just right..." Aluda smiled, her expression profound. "Come with me."
With that look in her eye, Wen Ying recalled his previous experience of being boiled in a pot for days. He asked cautiously, "Grandma, nothing painful this time, right?"
Aluda looked at him with a smile. "Come with me, I have a treasure to give you."
It was a normal statement, but Wen Ying felt uneasy. He quickly walked to Aluda's side. She patted his head and continued walking inside.
They didn't go to the basement but to the first floor bedroom—Aluda's bedroom.
She went in to retrieve something, and Wen Ying waited by the door. When Aluda came out, she raised her hand, revealing a red... seed?
Wen Ying examined it for a while and was about to ask when Aluda said meaningfully, "I think the Demon Realm should add some new legends to stop children from crying at night."
