    Chapter 98: The Question

Beros had asked casually, but Wen Ying's lack of immediate response and strange expression further enraged him. His eyes turned fierce. "Do you think those things are more important than me?"

His burst of furious magic made the weaker demons around him turn pale.

Wen Ying blinked, then patted the enraged Beros. "Answer my question first, and I'll answer yours."

Beros stared at Wen Ying, who asked earnestly, "If you had to choose between working out and accompanying me for dinner and an exhibition at night, which would you pick?"

Beros froze, confusion creeping into his previously fiery gaze. "Huh?"

    "Which one would you choose?"

Of course... Beros was about to blurt it out, but for some reason, his instinct for danger held him back as if there would be some dangerous consequence from his straightforward answer.

Wen Ying placed both hands on Beros' shoulders, his expression serious. "Answer me."

Essence and the other demons nearby tried to hide their grins by covering their mouths, barely managing to suppress their laughter. However, they knew that if they dared to laugh, they might become the target of Beros, who was currently desperate to escape this situation.

Wen Ying returned Plato's words with a chilly tone, "Seems like you think your training is more important than me."

Plato: "..." Wait, he was the one who asked the question, so why did the situation turn around and make him seem passive? He was supposed to be the one interrogating.

The anger in Plato's heart had turned into a baffled confusion mixed with a hint of guilt.

Wen Ying straightened his posture and patted Plato's shoulder with his right hand, "It's settled then. You'll come back with me this afternoon."

Plato: "I didn't agree to that."

Wen Ying narrowed his eyes slightly, "Don't you care about my safety?"

Plato: "..." There was something off about this logic, but he couldn't find the right words to refute it.

Wen Ying walked back to his seat with a pleased expression. Thankfully, he had previously read up on how to handle classic deadly questions online.

Lan Jiaying summoned a few demons. When school ended in the afternoon, Wen Ying saw the demons accompanying Lan Jiaying and barely managed to suppress his overly cunning smile.

"Is your face twitching?" Wu Shaluo, who found everything about Wen Ying annoying, couldn't help but provoke him with a few sarcastic remarks.

Wen Ying gently patted his own cheeks. "It's nothing, just... a bit scared." A hint of excitement was mixed in.

Lan Jiaying observed as Beros genuinely intended to accompany Wen Ying, a thoughtful glint flickering in his eyes.

"Your Highness," the Snow Demon Bingge approached Lan Jiaying, "are we not risking alerting the target by being so close?"

Lan Jiaying shifted his gaze from the Snow Demon to Wen Ying. "We'll follow you from a distance later. Just act normally."

The extremist group that could scare Wen Ying wouldn't be insignificant, Lan Jiaying softly clenched his right hand. His father would undoubtedly be pleased if they eliminated these not-so-weak extremists.

Wen Ying summoned Boloros, Lan Jiaying, and Wu Shaluo; Lan Jiaying, in turn, called upon the Snow Demon Bingge, the giant-troll Yan Kuo, and the Dragon-Snake Weiyun.

During a previous exam, the Snow Demon had been paired with Scarlet, and Wen Ying had overheard Scarlet complaining about Icego's cold demeanor. According to him, it was as if Icego would only muster a single "mm" in response to ten of his sentences, or simply nod or shake his head.

Beside him stood Yan Kuo, a Troll of exceptional talent, currently deemed the most outstanding young mage in the Troll clan. He was exponentially more powerful than his peers. His aura differed from that of the Troll Wen Ying had encountered during the entrance exam.

Wei Yun, the Dragon-Snake, was a dark-skinned femme fatale with an imposing presence. Unlike Lilith and the witch fairy, she appeared more "masculine." The former two were more curvaceous, but despite being female, Wei Yun gave off a similar vibe to a troll upon first glance.

The Second Prince of the Demon Realm, Mo Zhen, was truly generous, gifting him with the blood of three powerful demons.

Lan Jiaying passed by Wen Ying with an icy expression. "Hurry up, don't waste time."

Her golden hair flowed smoothly before Wen Ying's eyes, leaving behind a faint fragrance. He gazed at her retreating figure. Lan Jiaying's hair had grown back, making him feel like it was ready to be cut.

The pure fire elemental magic power of the Black Dragon Clan could be used to exchange for treasures with the Butterfly Wing Mermaid Phelous. It had been a while since he last obtained their scales.

Beros asked, "What kind of extremist has arrived that you need to summon so many demons?"

"We're summoning so many demons to catch them all in one fell swoop," Wen Ying's words held hidden meaning. "It's more convenient this way."

In the corridor of the public office, Feng Luo looked at Lai Yehua, who blocked his path, with suspicion. "You said Aluda wants the two of us to find her?"

    "Yes, let's go now."

    Feng Luo remained still.

Of the two major demons, Feng Luo leaned towards being a refined villain with a deceptive appearance, which was why Lu Qingtao and the other young teachers had been fooled by his cold, elite demeanor. On the other hand, Lai Yehua was a composed and decisive fighter. His aggression was displayed openly, exuding a murderous aura from his experiences on the battlefield. Feng Luo, however, exerted pressure through his gaze.

The ordinary demon teachers inside the office dared not come out as the silent showdown unfolded in the corridor.

The black wings behind the fallen angel spread slightly, seemingly to enhance its intimidatory presence.

    "Wen Ying told me."

    "Wen Ying…."

Feng Luo pondered for a moment before asking, "Did he mention what Aruda wants with us?"

"No," Lai Yehua replied coldly, "Hurry up."

"There's still some time till night. Why the rush?" Feng Luo walked forward, passing by Lai Yehua. "It's not too late to go after dinner."

Lai Yehua's purple lightning arc leaped past Feng Luo, and his voice echoed from behind Feng Luo.

"We'll have a peaceful meal only if we finish early." The sooner they were done, the sooner he could return to heal his wounds.

Wen Ying and his group of demons emerged from the academy, with Lan Jiaying and the others following Wen Ying from a distance. Their initial excitement and vigilance turned into confusion. Wen Ying had mentioned the extremist faction, but they didn't sense any, nor did they encounter any ambush along the way. It was a calm journey.

Upon reaching Aruda's terrifying castle, Lan Jiaying and the others still hadn't seen a single demon resembling an extremist.

At the castle gates, all five demons, excluding Berros, came to a halt.

The sky had already darkened, casting a crimson glow from the setting sun upon Aruda's castle, dyeing it with a bloody hue. The sections shrouded in black shadows appeared even more eerie and menacing.

Wu Shaluo gazed at the ominous castle that cast its shadow upon him, furrowing his brow as he asked, "Hey, Wen Ying, what's going on? We don't see any Extremists."

A creak echoed as the door opened, and Aruda emerged from within the castle. The kind old woman's gaze swept across each demon, causing their expressions to shift slightly.

"Stay for dinner tonight," she offered warmly.
