    Chapter 253 - Calm

Wen Ying contacted the demons from the Judgment Bureau around Wen Dingjue's current location, asking them to escort him back to Huaxia.

The Asaph demons in charge were a bit puzzled by the order. Escort a human to Huaxia? An elderly one at that?

After finishing his call, Wen Ying phoned Wen Qinxue and Lin Tianbao, telling them to work from home as much as possible lately.

"Wen Ying, what's going on?" Wen Qinxue's heart tensed up upon hearing Wen Ying's suddenly serious tone.

Wen Ying replied, "Nothing much, just that the situation has become a little chaotic. I'll be heading back soon."

After some thought, Wen Ying called Ye Wang.

There was a commotion in the background of Ye Wang's call, so Wen Ying casually asked, "What are you doing?"

"I'm catching extremists. So many have popped out recently," Ye Wang said with a zealous tone. "All part of the performance assessment."

Wen Ying raised an eyebrow. "I've got some intel for you."

    Ye Wang: "Hm?"

"Wen Ying, you should be familiar with Mu City's headquarters, right?"

"The one in the catering industry?"

"Yes," Wen Ying's tone remained calm as usual, "The extremist group might be attempting to collaborate with them. Send more people to intercept any extremists who try to approach them."

"Also, keep an eye on a few of Wen's family members through marriage. We can't let them exploit this situation."

    "Got it."

Wen Ying hung up and exhaled deeply, a slight curve forming at the corner of his lips. Even though the truth was almost exposed, he still hoped to buy more time. The Church was merely suspecting something now, they hadn't obtained definitive proof yet.

By relying on the fact that no Mirror Demon could split its existence, he could sow confusion among their assumptions.

As Muershi spoke to the approaching Wen Ying with a meaningful tone, "I thought you fell into a toilet pit."

Wu Shaluo crossed his arms. "So slow, I thought you were ambushed."

"Just had a slight issue coming out of the underground palace," Wen Ying waved it off. "Sorry, let's head back."

On their way to the airport by car, Wen Ying pulled Berlos to sit in the backseat and whispered, "Ask Elga to strengthen the patrol in Mu City and don't let any suspicious extremist slip through."

    Berlos asked, "What's going on?"

"It's been quite peaceful here all along."

Berlos looked puzzled. "What does this have to do with Mu City?"

Wen Ying glanced at the driver in front and whispered, clicking his tongue. After a moment of hesitation, he said, "I'll tell you in detail when we get back."

Berlos' eyes darkened. "Is there something happening that I don't know about?"

Seeing his unusual expression, Wen Ying immediately swore, "I'll definitely tell you this time, I'll explain when we're back."

Only then did Berlos' expression improve.

Indeed, the journey was tranquil all the way. The demonic army escorting them safely to the airport encountered no attacks or incidents. The longer they went without incident, the more solemn Wen Ying's expression became.

Everyone could tell that Wen Ying was in a terrible mood – an extremely terrible one.

Muershi approached him, asking, "Is something bothering you?"

"Sort of," Wen Ying glanced at Muershi indifferently, lacking enthusiasm for conversation. "It's a personal matter."

Lan Jiaying looked at Wen Ying suspiciously. "Did you hide some important information obtained from the underground palace?"

"Not at all," Wen Ying denied firmly. "I've disclosed everything significant. I didn't tell them about the human side. The disaster prevention department in Tail Horn City is full of spies. If I were to inform them, the Pope would probably know within an hour."

Wen Ying still vividly remembered the absurdity of Tail Horn City's confidentiality measures before.

The revelation that the mastermind behind the scenes was an angel was the biggest issue. He just hadn't mentioned the second-biggest thing – that he would become the second-generation angel. In his mind, he wasn't lying.

Perseus turned his gaze slightly, hiding the peculiar glint in his eyes.

The personnel from the disaster prevention department and military had been on high alert throughout the journey. After encountering the man who tried to enter through the bronze gate, they hadn't spotted any suspicious characters or experienced any attacks. However, this lack of incidents didn't alleviate their unease; instead, it heightened their suspicion.

Like the calm before a storm.

The demons returned unscathed to the Exorcist Academy's island, and the dean invited Wen Ying to his office for a chat.

Wen Ying asked Bellerophon and the others to go back first while he followed the dean to the office.

Chang Mufeng and the others were still concerned about the underground palace incident. Wen Ying repeated what he had told Lou Wangmiao and the others to Chang Mufeng and company before leaving the office to return to his dormitory.

Bellerophon was waiting for him in their dormitory. He had promised Bellerophon that he would reveal what he had been hiding after he came back.

Wen Ying arrived at the dormitory entrance, took a deep breath, and pushed the door open.

Bellerophon sat on the sofa with his long legs crossed, his tall figure exuding an imposing presence that could not be ignored. The ears of the three-headed hellhound perked up, and its tail involuntarily swished upon seeing Wen Ying enter, indicating its master's relaxed and happy mood.

"I'm back," Wen Ying smiled as he closed the door and walked over.

Bellerophon watched Wen Ying approach and instinctively opened his arms. Wen Ying froze for a moment.

Boros's tone held a hint of uncertainty: "Didn't you enjoy holding me outside the underground palace?"

Wen Ying fell silent for a moment before walking over and allowing himself to be embraced, following Boros's train of thought.

There was no one around, no one watching. Boros's tail tip swished up and down on the sofa, tapping against the leather with soft thuds.

As he hugged Wen Ying, Boros rested his chin on the other's shoulder. At this moment, he felt that even if Wen Ying continued to hide things from him, he wouldn't be as angry.
