Chapter 272: Provocation
by 夜阑妖歌Chapter 272: Provocation
Wen Ying guessed that the current mood of both the Devil King and the Angel, Wu Mixiu, was probably not very good.
The main goal had been accomplished. After the aftermath of revealing his identity, he had informed the public as much as possible. Now, the focus of netizens had shifted from him to the church's arbitrary capture of exorcists as materials.
The church's online trolls continued to dig up Wen Ying's identity to divert public attention, but unfortunately, Wen Ying's incident seemed more like a high-profile entertainment gossip to ordinary people. They were watching it for the excitement without feeling too much of a sense of crisis.
This matter with the church was different. They randomly selected their victims, and now many ordinary people could cultivate magical power. It was possible for them to be taken away while walking on the street, and then reported to have died in some unexpected accident!
In the midst of the public outrage, even the trolls couldn't stop it.
Wen Ying's main consciousness returned to his mirror clone at the Exorcist Academy.
Wen Ying had noticed that the demons had been working especially hard these past few days, seemingly spurred by something.
Muershi rolled his eyes. "It's because of your provocation. Before, when they didn't know that you have more than half human blood, losing to a Devil Mirror wasn't that shameful. But now, you've brought shame to the demon world."
Wen Ying: "Shameful?"
Muershi lowered his eyelids, giving Wen Ying a meaningful glance, and then circled around him, observing, "The heritage of an angel is truly remarkable."
Beside them, Berlos' ears twitched as he cast a sidelong glance, Wen Ying wasn't just an angelic descendant.
"By the way, I heard you sent Yun Lao to blow up the Church's headquarters? That angel."
Wen Ying was surprised, "How do you know?" It had only been a couple of days, had the news already spread?
"Bloros: Most of the demons in the royal circle of the Demon Realm know about it. After all, the angels suspended all plans that could provoke us once they sensed our knowledge."
Wen Ying pondered, "The Devil King hasn't come to cause me trouble yet... But Yun Lao should be quite happy."
Bloros interrupted, "No, the Devil King made him copy books."
Muershi's eyes widened in surprise, "A genius among devils."
Wen Ying was puzzled, "How do you know?"
Bloros fell silent for a few seconds before he said, "When I returned to the Demon Realm yesterday, the Devil King sought me out."
Wen Ying was alert.
Boros seemed to be organizing his words, speaking more slowly than usual.
"He wants…" Boros began, but then got up to usher Muershi out of the dormitory.
Pushed away, Muershi turned back reluctantly. "What can't I hear? It's not some huge secret, right?"
After Boros shut the door with a cold, unfeeling expression, he seemed to relax as he walked back. He sat down across from Wen Ying and spoke with less tension.
"The Demon King wants me to steer your heart towards our demonic side," Boros said. "He thinks you're too aligned with humans."
Wen Ying raised an eyebrow. "How does he plan to do that?"
Boros didn't answer immediately. His gaze drifted away as if struggling to find the right words.
Wen Ying stood up and walked in front of him, cupping his face with both hands. With his eyes curved in a seductive slant, his weary, crimson irises held a hint of exhaustion. The low, husky tail-end of his voice was like a gentle feather, brushing against Boros's ear. "Like this?"
Boros's red eyes lost focus slightly. The cold and brooding aura around him seemed to recede in the presence of Wen Ying, as if two opposite poles of a magnet were being repelled when they drew near.
The Hellhound before Wen Ying appeared quite docile, allowing the Demon of the Magic Mirror to caress its face, even leaning forward initiative.
