Chapter 321: Courting Disaster
by 夜阑妖歌Chapter 321: Courting Disaster
Mu City's Demon Realm Cultural Street was packed with visitors every day, turning this moderately-sized city into a bustling tourist hotspot where locals couldn't even find an empty table for dinner at night.
Not only were tourists from Huaxia flocking to Mu City, but many foreigners were also visiting, boosting the local GDP in an instant. The local officials were both pleased and pained by this phenomenon.
Wen Xinxin, Wen Ying's cousin, called to complain that she couldn't even buy a ticket back to Mu City. Wanting to return, she had no choice but to charter a private jet with her classmates.
Wen Ying himself was nearly suffocated by the crowds. Delivery times for takeout were consistently over an hour, and he couldn't step out of his door without being mobbed by fans asking for photos. The recent influx of people in Mu City was terrifying. He promptly retreated to the Demon Realm.
The human cultural district in the demonic realm also saw a tremendous flow of visitors, but unlike humans who merely wanted to observe and purchase exotic goods, demons strolled through the streets with hidden desires, their mouths watering.
The scent of human vitality was truly delightful! Many demons, seeing living humans for the first time, fixated on the people in the shops with fiery gazes. At first, those inside felt an eerie tingling on their scalps, but soon, the patrol team of Mirror Lake City arrived, apprehending several demons whose malicious intentions and suspicious behavior were evident.
For days on end, they caught one after another, targeting those with overly eager looks and those attempting stealthy attacks on solitary humans. None of the attacking demons succeeded; they were all captured. As a result, the remaining contemplative demons, witnessing their peers being arrested, decided against acting on their impulses.
Wen Ying couldn't care less about the cries of those captured demons, decrying the excessive human authority in the demonic realm. Anyone daring to act out faced forced labor.
Among the malevolent demons in action was an unruly upper-ranking demon offspring. Wen Ying dragged him to Aruda's castle, and the youngster's arrogant expression immediately turned ashen.
The contemplative demons became even more cautious in their actions.
Wen Ying personally led the patrol in Mirror Lake City, ensuring that under his watchful eye, the demons conducted themselves with propriety around humans.
Yet, just like elsewhere, there were always countermeasures to policies. By the time Wen Ying realized what was happening, she found herself in quite an awkward situation.
Unable to attack humans, then let the humans offer themselves willingly, this way, one wouldn't be caught.
Devious demons began to deliberately draw near to their chosen targets, each employing their own tactics.
It seemed that lovers were more prone to anger than friends, and so demons started to court humans for the sake of provoking them.
Succubi, as a species, held an advantage, along with fox spirits and cat demons.
Exorcists who resided in the Cultural Lane, specifically coming to the Demon Realm for training, were particularly popular (and coveted) among demons. They often found themselves inexplicably caught up in romantic entanglements, encountering accidental collisions and sudden affections. Over time, they came to realize the truth.
It wasn't because they possessed any particular charm or were fated to these encounters; it was simply that the demons craved the anger they could evoke!
Wen Ying turned a blind eye as long as the demons didn't directly harm humans; the rest was up to their own abilities.
After the two cultural streets had been operational for some time, the Demon King, having not received the news he hoped for from Wen Ying, grew anxious and took the initiative to call him.
Unfortunately, he chose an inopportune moment. Wen Ying was just about to feed Belphegor when the phone rang, interrupting his process of undressing. The look Belphegor shot at the phone was terrifying, as if he wished he could smash the caller to bits.
Wen Ying silenced himself with a finger to his lips and asked, "Your Majesty the Demon King, is there something urgent you need to discuss with me at this hour?"
Belphegor, seated on the bed, pulled the standing Wen Ying down by his waist to press him against himself. He wrapped his arms around him and nestled his face into the other's chest, suppressing his impatience.
With one hand holding the phone, Wen Ying gently rubbed Belphegor's ear with the other.
"Wen Ying, it has been a while since you last came to see me. When will you convince the Law to allow Lan Jiaying to pass through?"
Wen Ying replied calmly, "Regarding that, we'll have to wait until the Law releases the list of demon clans that humans have a high affinity for, with the Black Dragons ranking at the top."
Wen Ying heard a soft "tsk" sound.
"I understand," the Demon King said tersely before hanging up.
Boros couldn't wait to proceed.
The Devil King, after pondering all night, promptly registered on Weibo in the Flower Planting Nation and transferred a considerable amount of content from his demonic realm account to attract human attention.
