Under Yu AnTong's social media, comments pleaded for forgiveness and more live streams.
Vinegar-Potato Strips: Masterchef, we apologize!
Beijing Pork Strips: Handsome Yu, please continue livestreaming!
Crowned 'Rainbow Flatterer': Yu, the epitome of elegance and grace, dashing and handsome like Pan An, An Tong. Will you come back to stream? I haven't mastered the art of making spicy crayfish yet.
No matter how much praise they showered under his Weibo posts, Yu An Tong remained steadfast, his heart like steel, resolute in his decision to stop streaming.
If he were to stream again, it would be after Xiao Nian's birth, to proverbially 'slap their faces'.
With some free time at home, Yu An Tong enrolled in a driving school. Though actual driving seems out of the question for now, he can at least prepare for the theoretical exam.
The first test is entirely theory-based multiple-choice questions. There's a dedicated question bank. With just a few rounds of practice on a driving app, it's easy to master and pass the test.
From registration to the examination, Yu An Tong spent a week securing a slot for the theory test, passing it on his first attempt.
In the final month of pregnancy, Xing Li Xuan didn't even allow Yu An Tong to deliver meals, fearing any mishap on the road.
Spicy and stimulating foods were off the table. Every day was filled with nutritious and light meals, ensuring a calm and cheerful mood, with walks around the house being the main activity.
Yu An Tong felt like he was on a spiritual path. At this rate, he mused, he could easily take up meditation and consider monastic life.
With eager anticipation, the due date finally approached.
A week prior, Xing Li Xuan had already arranged for Yu An Tong's hospital admission, to be prepared for any unforeseen circumstances.
The final week's prenatal check-up was thorough, covering blood pressure, ultrasound, amniotic fluid, fetal heart monitoring, and every other possible test.
Dr. Smith said, "Mr. Yu, all your health indicators are normal. The baby is developing well. You can choose a date for the cesarean section."
Xing Li Xuan inquired, "Shouldn't we wait for labor signs or contractions?"
Dr. Smith replied, "The baby is already 38 weeks, full term. You can opt for the surgery now or wait a couple more days."
Xing Li Xuan suddenly felt intense anxiety and fear. Even with advanced medical technology, there's always a risk.
The mere thought of potential complications made the usually decisive man waver, wishing he could shield Yu An Tong from the risks of surgery forever.
Xing Li Xuan wanted to delay it by a couple of days but looked to Yu An Tong for his opinion, fearing he might disagree.
He assumed Yu An Tong would want the procedure as soon as possible, given how eager he's been for Xiao Nian's arrival.
To his surprise, Yu An Tong, gripping his hand tightly, told Dr. Smith, "I don’t feel quite ready. Maybe we should wait until the baby shows signs of wanting to come out."

All these days, he had eagerly awaited the moment, but after the series of checks, doubt inexplicably crept in.
When faced with reality, he became timid and hesitant.
Dr. Smith smiled, "Alright then. Let me know if you need anything."
As Dr. Smith left, only Yu An Tong and Xing Li Xuan remained in the private ward.
Yu An Tong nestled into Xing Li Xuan's embrace and softly called him, "Husband."
"Mm." Xing Lixuan held his hand tightly.
Yu Antong looked up at him, "What should I do? I suddenly feel so nervous. I'm scared."
Xing Lixuan felt a heavy weight in his heart, but he couldn’t let it show. If he panicked now, Yu Antong would be even more anxious.
Xing Lixuan tried to reassure him, "Don’t be afraid. Xiaonian will definitely be as good as you and won't cause you any pain."
Yu Antong replied, "…It seems I’m not good at all."
Xing Lixuan playfully pinched his nose, "Little rascal, finally admitting it?"
"Darling, don’t be scared." Holding Yu Antong, Xing Lixuan reached out to a storybook on the table, "I’ll read a story for Xiaonian, teaching him to cherish his father."
Yu Antong chuckled, some of the tension leaving him, "He hasn't even been born yet, what can he understand?"
"Prenatal education is scientifically proven to subtly influence a child's character," Xing Lixuan opened the storybook, "Once upon a time..."
By the time Xing Lixuan finished the story, his mother arrived with food for Yu Antong.
Opening the lunchbox, she asked, "Tongtong, how do you feel today?"
"I’m feeling good. The doctor said all indicators are normal, and I can have a cesarean section," Yu Antong's eyes brightened when he saw cola chicken wings, "This smells amazing."
Just as he was about to grab his chopsticks, Xing Lixuan gave him a light tap.
Xing Lixuan admonished, "Wash your hands first."
Yu Antong pouted, rubbing the back of his hand, looking at Xing Lixuan with a reproachful expression.
Xing Lixuan chuckled, "I didn’t hit you hard, look at your pitiful face."
Xing's mother told Yu Antong, "Even a light tap is not okay!"
"Exactly!" Yu Antong huffed and headed to the bathroom to wash his hands.
With concern, Xing's mother whispered to Xing Lixuan, "When is the cesarean section? Is there any risk?"
Xing Lixuan replied softly, "The risk is minimal. Let’s wait for the baby to give some signs. Right now, both Yu Antong and I are anxious."
Xing's mother comforted her son, "A few days delay is okay. Staying at the hospital will make it easier in case of any signs. It will ease our worries, and you shouldn't stress too much."
After washing his hands, Yu Antong returned. The private room was spacious, equipped with all essential furniture. Xing Lixuan pulled out a chair for him to sit.
Picking up his chopsticks, the first thing Yu Antong grabbed was a cola chicken wing. After days of bland food, tasting something flavorful felt like a starving wolf finding meat.
While eating, Yu Antong gleefully praised Xing’s mother, "Mom, you’re the best! I love you so much!"
Xing's mother laughed heartily, charmed by Yu Antong. She only had one son, Xing Lixuan, who had always been cold and reserved. He might have been a source of less worry, but she missed out on many joys of motherhood.
"My dear Tongtong has been so enduring these days. Once Xiaonian is born, we can let you eat to your heart's content," she said with a smile.
To all appearances, Mother Xing had started to treat Yu Antong as a cherished younger son.
Knowing that cola chicken wings shouldn't be eaten too frequently, she only packed three of them to satiate Yu Antong's craving. She intentionally didn't pack any for Xing Lixuan, fearing he might indulge while Yu Antong looked on with envy.
Three wings weren't enough to satisfy him. Hearing Mother Xing's words, Yu Antong suddenly wished to have the cesarean now instead of waiting.
Author's note: Xiaonian says, "It's my dad's deep love for me that brought me into this world."
Tongtong retorts, "No, it's the power of a foodie."
