After Ji Mingxia and Ye Chen walked through the courtyard and the boulevard, the two walked along the lakeside towards the dormitories.

Along the way, most of the dormitory buildings were dark, with only orange street lights illuminating the surroundings. Compared to the southern area that had hordes of students, there wasn’t a single person to be seen around here.

Between the blue waves of the lake, the autumn breeze blew with water vapor blowing, and the area was cool.

Ji Mingxia could not help but say to Ye Chen: “Does Ye Tian usually live like this?”

If he didn’t know that this was the northern area of H University, Ji Mingxia would have thought he’d come to an abandoned area in the suburbs.

Even a man like Ji Mingxia felt panic, let alone Ye Tian, a girl living alone in such a place. It was strange that she would have a sense of security.

“Are uncle and auntie Ding…… capable people?” Ji Mingxia inquired.

If he remembered correctly, the last time he and Ye Tian came back from the hospital, Ye Tian mentioned these two people, saying that it was under their guidance that Ye Tian came to H University.

“We are considered family friends with the Ding family. Ye Chen said, “To be honest, I have never believed in gods and monsters.  The more superstitious my parents were, the greater my rebellious mentality. Although I haven’t been as rebellious as in my younger years, I believe in science some more.”

Ji Mingxia said, “So ……that’s why Uncle Zhang was so surprised when he saw me?”

Uncle Zhang had heard of Ji Mingxia’s name from Ye Tian, so he must have also heard of the elevator shock.

As soon as Ye Tian had an incident, Ye Chen hurriedly brought Ji Mingxia over.

In Uncle Zhang’s opinion, this was a sudden change in Ye Chen’s nature, not only did he believe Ye Tian’s words, but he even brought Ji Mingxia over so he was surprised.

“I understand.” Ye Chen said.

Ji Mingxia’s mind flashed through the various ghosts he had encountered over this period of time, as well as the various people. From the terrifying Lin Siyun, Song Yuelin and Meng Xinyi in the forest, to Zhou Tao in Banana Leaf Village, and the mysterious man behind the scenes.

Ji Mingxia couldn’t help but say, “Even if ghosts exist, there are also people in this world, and people are sometimes much more scarier than ghosts.”

“I strongly agree with that.” Ye Chen lost his smile.

He had seen all kinds of people in the business world, calculating to eat people without spitting out bones, each was like a jackal in human skin.

“Then Mingxia, what is a ghost like?” Ye Chen thought through and asked with curiosity.

Ji Mingxia thought for a while and simply told the scene when Ye Tian encountered a ghost in the library.

After accepting the truth, Ye Chen prepared himself for a frightening picture, but after listening to Ji Mingxia’s careful description of the scene inside the elevator, he still slightly paled.

The dormitory building was still dark and surrounded by silence. If not for Uncle Zhang guarding at the bottom, Ye Chen would have even doubted whether there were people upstairs or not.

Ye Chen looked at the dormitory with a frown. He turned back to Ji Mingxia and said, “Mingxia, is this normal?”

Ji Mingxia also looked back at the dormitory building and a bad feeling gradually rose in his heart. He hurriedly took out his phone and opened WeChat with the intention of asking Yu Ning what to do.

Their chat page was still marked an hour ago. That was when he had just got out of Ye Chen’s car and informed Yu Ning that he had arrived at the destination.

Yu Ning had not replied to him and Ji Mingxia didn’t mind, after all, it was not a question.

It was only when he opened the page again that he discovered why Yu Ning hadn’t replied to him. The message he had typed out an hour ago hadn’t been sent out!

Ji Mingxia was shocked and quickly typed another message, but it was still not sent successfully.

He went back to the home page of his phone and checked the network. He found that his phone was disconnected.

“My phone has no signal.” Ji Mingxia said.

“I sent a message when I got out of the car, and it wasn’t sent, which means that the entire doctoral dormitory area has no signal.” Ji Mingxia said.

This wasn’t the first time Ji Mingxia had experienced such an issue.

And every time it occured, it was accompanied by the appearance of mysterious items and supernatural events.

Thinking of this, Ji Mingxia looked at the dormitory building that was dead silent.

Ye Chen also thought of something and his face changed slightly: “They are still up there ……”

With that, he was ready to go upstairs.

Uncle Zhang saw this and quickly stopped him: “Little Ye! Sir and madam instructed me not to let you go up!”

Anger surfaced on Ye Chen’s face and he roared, “Look at the time, you still want to stop me?!”

Ji Mingxia saw Ye Chen and Uncle Zhang arguing so he hurriedly advised: “How about we leave here, find a place with a signal and call the police?”

The first time he encountered no cell phone signal was in extreme circumstances that prevented him from seeking help from the police.

But this time was different.

Although there was no signal in the dormitory building, they had a car. As long as they drove towards the southern district, they would always find a signal.

Although ghosts are powerful, they usually don’t come out when there are many people, not to mention that the police are righteous so they would certainly solve the problem.

Ji Mingxia felt that this was a good solution, however, as soon as his words fell, he was met with strong opposition from Uncle Zhang.

The sound of the door lock being opened was particularly loud in the silence of the night.

The dormitory door was opened, revealing the dark entrance inside. Uncle Zhang and the two bodyguards entered with flashlights, and their figures were quickly swallowed by the darkness.

With the door closing with a click, the surrounding area once again returned to silence.

Uncle Zhang and the bodyguards walking back and forth made the place a little lively. But once he and the two bodyguards left, only four people remained in the small courtyard and the place looked even more deserted.

Ye Chen wanted to chat with Ji Mingxia to ease the stiff atmosphere, but both of them were concerned about the situation in the dormitory, and no longer had the heart to chat.

After a long wait, twenty minutes finally passed.

Ye Chen gradually lost his patience and couldn’t sit still.

“How about I keep watch here and you drive out of the area to find a place with a signal and call the police?” Ji Mingxia proposed.

The scream was not loud, and it sounded desperate. It was only for a short moment before it disappeared almost instantly. If everyone hadn’t heard it, they might have thought it was an illusion.

Ji Mingxia’s ears were sensitive and he carefully distinguished whose voice it was. “It was a young man’s voice ……it should be one of the bodyguards.”

Ye Chen said, “These bodyguards were special personnel my parents hired from abroad at a high price. Especially the two who just went in, they crawled out from a pile of dead people…”

In other words, they had seen big winds and strong waves, they would never scream if whatever they saw was not extremely frightening!
