Zhou You jokingly replied, "Isn't that why I took a hostage? Let's see how much they care about him."

"You've got the wrong person then. Jiang Shun and I aren't close, and our relationship is quite indifferent. Why wouldn't you have captured his precious daughter instead?"

"His daughter? Who is she?"

Lin Shuqing tried to suppress his laughter but burst out, "Hahaha, you really don’t know? The girl in the lab with me earlier, her name is Jiang Wei, Jiang Shun's only daughter. She also opposes human experimentation, so she's been studying with me. I thought you knew."

Zhou You remarked that using him as a hostage was just a bluff, merely grabbing him earlier as a guide. But had he known the girl was Jiang Shun's daughter, he would have definitely taken her with them.

"Why wouldn’t Dr. Jiang take his beloved daughter with him? Leaving her in such a dangerous lab, especially considering our ultimate goal is to destroy it."

"From what Jiang Wei told me, she was off today. But she had to come back because of some missing data. I think Jiang Shun doesn’t even know." He patted Zhou You's shoulder, suggesting, "How about you let me go, and we go back for her?"

"No need. You're good enough for now." While speaking, Zhou You noticed the exit. The lab’s layout wasn't complex, one straight path to the exit. But just as he was about to dash out, Lin Shuqing warned, "Be careful, there's a trap here."

Zhou You halted. There seemed to be no anomaly ahead, but recalling the entrance's trap, he proceeded cautiously.

He set Lin Shuqing down and nudged him forward, "So, where's the trap?"

Lin Shuqing, panicked, stepped back, "How would I know? I didn’t design this lab!"

"Then you might as well serve as a canary."

"Wait! Wait!" Lin Shuqing shouted, "I might not be entirely sure, but I remember the maintenance workers working on specific spots."

Pointing his laser gun at him, Zhou You nodded, "Speak. If you're right, I'll take you with me. If you're wrong, you'll stay here."

"You really are ruthless underneath that youthful facade. I need to think this through." Lin Shuqing always paid close attention to his surroundings. Not just outsiders, the lab even deceived its own. So, he had to ensure his own safety.

"Three meters from us, on the right wall, one meter up from the bottom." As he finished speaking, a laser hit that exact spot, revealing a reflective metallic surface inside.

Relieved, Lin Shuqing continued, "From that spot, every meter you move up, shift ten centimeters diagonally."

A bright flash, and a neat diagonal line appeared on the white wall. Each point was precise. The wall revealed an array of laser guns, partially damaged by Zhou You's laser but still distinguishable.

It was fortunate that Zhou You used a laser gun. Bullets wouldn’t have damaged the laser guns. If activated, Lin Shuqing was sure he'd have been riddled with holes.

"That was close!" he said, clutching his chest.

"Anything else?"

Lin Shuqing glanced at the ceiling. He had seen someone access the drop ceiling earlier, but couldn't discern the exact location of the mechanism.

"Maybe it won't activate? Didn't they leave without any issues earlier?"

When Zhou You and his team entered, the adversary had viewed them via surveillance to activate the mechanism. Now, there was no visible camera. Zhou You closed his eyes, scanning the ceiling inch by inch with his psychic power. To his astonishment, the ceiling was constructed of tiny pinhole cameras. From below, they appeared as mere pinpoints of light, beautifully deceptive.

"He's discovered it, but to what end?" Jiang Shun ordered the exit to be destroyed. If they managed to reclaim the lab, they could always build another exit. If not, then that exit became moot.

"Professor, I think my senior is still inside," said one of Jiang's students anxiously. "I read Dr. Lin's lips earlier; he said she's in his lab."

"How is that possible?" Jiang Shun hurriedly pulled out his phone, forgetting he had installed a signal jammer in the lab. No signal.

He had made sure earlier that Jiang Wei was off today. And he knew she would spend her off days volunteering at the welfare institute.

The student showed him a screenshot of the video. Even though Jiang Shun couldn't read lips, he could discern the words "Jiang Wei".

Dropping his phone, he took a deep breath and said, "Let's get out of here first!" He glanced back at the exit and whispered to his bodyguard, "Stay close. When they come out, eliminate Lin Shuqing by any means. He knows too much."

The lab technicians outside, if not caught, would surely keep silent. But Lin Shuqing had clearly betrayed them. A traitor shouldn’t get out alive.

"Understood."

But they hadn't gotten far when a loud explosion sounded below, shaking the ground. Everyone scrambled towards Yunlan Mountains where they had dug a bunker for temporary refuge.

Zhou You and Lin Shuqing were jolted by the blast. A large portion of the ceiling had collapsed, revealing the mechanisms above – a plate full of finger-thick steel spikes.

Lin Shuqing swallowed hard, "If that thing had fallen when we passed, would we have been skewered?"

"I can't speak for you, but I wouldn't be," Zhou You retorted, quickly carrying Lin toward the exit. He had noticed part of the exit also collapsing; it might get blocked.
