Chapter442
Sun Lu stared, agape, at the silhouette approaching from the distance.
How could this be? Why was he seeing Mr. Zhou here? And alone, at that. What to do?
The foreigners nearby also noticed the newcomer and promptly raised their guns, which looked highly advanced. Sun Lu quickly stepped forward to intervene, but the language barrier proved insurmountable. He resorted to gesturing with his hands.
"He's my friend!" Sun Lu repeated over and over, not believing Zhou You had come looking for trouble. Perhaps he had just lost his way.
They seemed to understand the word "friend". Although they didn’t lower their guns, their expressions softened considerably.
"Who is he?" the leader of the foreigners inquired. Unfortunately, Sun Lu couldn’t comprehend and was unable to respond.
He considered seeking out Dr. Jiang in the vehicle, but then recalled that Zhou You had once been one of those responsible for destroying the laboratory. They would surely recognize each other upon meeting.
After this brief moment of hesitation, Zhou You had already reached them. He glanced over the crowd—about two hundred, fully armed.
A familiar-looking young man approached and began speaking animatedly to him. But Zhou You seemed to let the words go in one ear and out the other, paying them little mind.
He only asked, "Did you bring them here?"
Sun Lu shook his head, then added, "They followed Mr. Li."
"I see." With a single palm strike, Zhou You knocked Sun Lu unconscious. Then, he threw a hundred steel needles, targeting the gun-wielding crowd in the front.
The unexpected move caught them off guard. Yet, being on high alert, they immediately fired back at Zhou You.
Their bullets were special—larger and more lethal than ordinary ones. Each bullet exploded on impact, similar to a miniature grenade.
Some managed to shoot down the incoming needles, some dodged them, while others weren’t quick enough and were pierced through.
Every needle was imbued with a powerful internal force. Though thin, they left gaping holes in their wake—fatal if they struck vital areas.
After their volley of fire, they found Zhou You had vanished, with only the unconscious young man remaining on the ground.
"Where is he?" They searched frantically. Previously, they had witnessed the exceptional agility of martial artists from China—it was almost like magic.
Zhou You moved with blinding speed, weaving through the crowd like a phantom. His curved blades deftly took lives as he passed.
Their shots were fired haphazardly, often hitting their own due to slow reactions. Chaos reigned, with countless dead or injured.
Zhou You's savage nature fully manifested; his strikes were ruthless and deadly. After a bout of chaos, the adversaries finally found a strategy—spreading out instead of clustering.
As the crowd dispersed, Zhou You's agility was compromised. He quickly grabbed a nearby person as a human shield. When a bullet came his way, he threw the body towards it, then dove behind a nearby car for cover.
Another bullet zoomed in. Zhou You presumed the vehicle would offer decent protection, but the shot struck its power source. The armored car exploded instantly. Zhou You leapt to safety, bounding across several vehicles as explosions chained one after the other, causing significant friendly fire casualties.
The magnitude of the commotion finally alerted Jiang Shun. Drawing his pistol, he listened intently to the chaos outside. Venturing out in such a state would be suicide.
But as a vehicle in front of him suddenly burst into flames, lighting up the night, he had no choice but to kick open the door and jump out.
Just as Zhou You landed, he stepped on Jiang Shun's back, kicking him away without even a glance.
Several white-robed figures rushed forward, raising their guns. However, seeing the flying figure, they quickly lowered their weapons and reached out to catch him.
Zhou You's eyes narrowed. In a flash, he appeared before them, slicing through the necks of two with a single swipe and snatching the flying man.
Upon closer look, he recognized Jiang Shun, whose face was painted with utter shock upon seeing Zhou You.
"It's... it's you..."
Zhou You had no time for chatter. Without hesitation, he gripped Jiang Shun's throat and with a swift twist, decapitated him.
Zhou You didn’t care about Jiang Shun's past deeds or his connection to current events. Dead men tell no tales.
The white-robed figures were enraged at the sight. Though Jiang Shun wasn't one of them, he held great significance to their nation.
They had invested so much, and the returns were far from satisfactory. They brought Jiang Shun back intending to move the laboratory here, with plans to continuously use the locals for their warrior production.
But all their plans were thwarted by this young man.
They murmured among themselves in their language, which Zhou You understood. They were discussing whether to continue the fight or to flee.
With a smirk, Zhou You drove his curved knife into the ground, "Thinking of running? Not so easy."
He hadn't used his explosive spiritual power in a long while. Recalling past explosions, he desired to let his foes taste the same.
"Run!" The remaining white-robed figures saw Zhou You standing still, bullets rebounding from him. Sensing the threat, they scurried to find intact vehicles, preparing for their escape.
Through the rearview mirror, some saw Zhou You enveloped in a radiant golden light, growing so intense that he was almost invisible.
As the cars ignited and began to move, the luminous orb-like light flew towards them. With a deafening "boom," all vehicles were blown away, followed by successive explosions.
Sun Lu opened his eyes to a scene resembling a sci-fi movie. Though the explosion was distant, he felt the heat sting his face.
