    Chapter 12

Lin Fu's vision cleared only after the arrival of the senior students.

Pulling apart the entangled sentinels, Albert's resplendent golden lion, with its hair shining brightly, clamped onto the lynx's neck and refused to let go. After being reprimanded by the senior, it released its grip reluctantly, emitting a deep, rumbling threat from its throat. With bared teeth and a fierce glare, it stared down the shivering spirit lynx.

"Retrieve your spirit entities! The first rule of the school regulations explicitly prohibits the release of spirit entities on campus!"

The golden lion nestled up to its master, whining pitifully before being retracted into his spirit space.

Albert accused, "Senior, they were the ones who first released their spirit entities. They shamelessly ganged up three against one, even using psychic attacks against an unshielded guide on the way!"

It was only then that he remembered to check on Lin Fu's condition. Discovering him being supported by Tang Qian, his expression darkened further: "Are you hurt? Let me take you to the doctor."

"No need." Gong Yuan took Lin Fu from Tang Qian's hands, his narrow eyes half-closed and his normally gentle and handsome face now edged with severity, "Yan Yan, take those three away and inform the headmaster."

After finishing, he turned to the bruised Tang Qian and Albert: "You two, come along as well. Report to the discipline office to receive your punishment."

Gong Yuan brought Lin Fu into the infirmary and began to meticulously scan his head with the medical equipment.

"I heard you were poisoned by the Lin family?"

    Lin Fu: "Yes…"

He had only shared this information with Karl.

Gong Yuan glanced at him with a light laugh, "You're wondering how I knew about it, what's my relation with Karl? What, haven't you read the small reports?"

Lin Fu honestly responded, "I have, but I felt you were not involved."

Leaning back in his chair with his legs crossed, Gong Yuan tapped and clicked on the display screen, activating the healing function.

A dome enveloped Lin Fu's body.

Gong Yuan: "Close your eyes and get some sleep. I'll be right here watching over you."

Lin Fu obediently closed his eyes.

His head was indeed in a lot of pain.

By the time Karl dealt with the three sentinels and arrived at the infirmary, Lin Fu had not yet awakened.

Gong Yuan, with the tip of his shoe resting against the foot of the bed, leaned back in his chair, tipping it back rhythmically.

Karl furrowed his brows, yet his expression was unusually non-threatening as he said, "I've told you several times, don't look up to me like that."

Gong Yuan replied with a lazy smile, "The principal should worry less about trivial matters and pay more attention to his students."

"Didn't you say you weren't injured?"

Gong Yuan gestured with his chin towards the diagnostic machine, "The results have been printed out over there, no backups, all records deleted. Take a look for yourself."

Karl glanced at the paper report on the desk, his brows knitting tighter after flipping through a few pages. After a long moment, they relaxed slightly, "Isn't it a good sign that there's a chance for recovery?"

Gong Yuan said, "It is indeed good. Without psychic power, the Lin family was eager to dispose of this child. Now that his psychic power is gradually returning, what do you think the Lin family will do?"

Karl's expression darkened as he recalled unpleasant memories and said gravely, "Since I promised to protect him, I'll naturally take care of these matters."

Gong Yuan's expression turned momentarily faint, "One can only hope."

    *

When Lin Fu woke up, Gong Yuan was indeed still there.

"You don't need to worry too much about the Lin family's affairs; the principal has said he would help you."

Lin Fu expressed his sincere gratitude, "Thank you, Teacher."

Gong Yuan ruffled his hair and gave his shoulders a push, "Your two friends are waiting."

    Lin Fu took his leave.

Apart from the Lin family's matters, he now had another issue to clarify.

The moment Albert saw Lin Fu, he excitedly bounded over like a puppy, embracing him by the shoulders, "I'm glad you're alright!"

Lin Fu fixed his gaze on Tang Qian, "Thank you for today."

Tang Qian wanted to step forward, but unlike Albert, he couldn't rush over; his steps seemed hesitant, as if held back.

He shook his head in response.

With eyes filled with guilt, he looked at Lin Fu as if today's events were all because of him.

Lin Fu inquired, "I've been meaning to ask, have we known each other for a long time?"

Tang Qian's eyes were filled with increasing guilt, and after a long pause, he finally said softly, "Yes."

If Lin Fu had any friends in his childhood besides Shang Jairui, it would only be Tang Qian.

However, unlike Shang Jairui's years of companionship, Tang Qian never appeared during any of the difficult moments in Lin Fu's life.

It was for this reason that, after encountering Lin Fu at the Artemis Military Academy, Tang Qian constantly tried to get close to him, to make amends, and to alleviate the guilt in his heart.

Lin Fu, pressing at the center of his brows, said, "You don't need to compensate me; I haven't taken it to heart. Besides, we are of the same age. I couldn't do much myself, so what help could you have been?"

The original Lin Fu's memories didn't even have a trace of the prominent Tang Qian. The only person who was pinned as a 'friend' in his fragmented memories was Shang Jairui alone.

The original Lin Fu never pinned his hopes on Tang Qian, so there was no need for him to feel guilty.

Tang Qian clenched his fingers tightly, saying awkwardly, "I'm sorry."

Lin Fu replied, "You don't need to apologize to me. Thank you for today. If you're willing, we can start anew as friends."

Tang Qian was overwhelmed with joy, "Yes! I'd like that!"

Albert curiously asked, "Do you mean to say you didn't have a good life in the Lin family? That doesn't make sense. You're the youngest legitimate child of the Lin family and a guide. Even without psychic powers, so what? The Lin family is affluent and powerful; what do they need you, a young master, to do? Shouldn't they be cherishing and spoiling you?"

Lin Fu replied, "I'd like to know what they're thinking too."

A normal person would be as Albert described, but the Lin family wasn't like that, which only indicated there was a problem with the Lin family.

Lin Fu declared, "Let's go to training."
