Section 23 - Carnage Unleashed
The few who followed after were now drenched in blood, utterly terrified. A Fourth Rank Warrior had just been killed so effortlessly! And they were no stronger than he was. Charging forward blindly would only mean courting death.
In reality, without channeling his energy, Old Evil could at most wound his opponents, not kill them on the spot. But once he channeled his energy, his power multiplied several times over, making him abnormally formidable. It was only natural that a Fourth Rank Warrior would be instantly defeated.
This was also due to the warrior's lack of knowledge. After all, the Assassin class hadn't appeared for hundreds of years, so it was understandable that he was unaware. Had he known the unique traits of Assassin martial arts, he certainly wouldn't have engaged a fully-charged Old Evil in a direct confrontation. In fact, if he had merely kept Old Evil occupied for another dozen seconds, the energy would have dissipated on its own, leaving him vulnerable and easier to defeat.
As the group was paralyzed with fear by the sight of blood and shredded flesh, Old Evil moved like lightning among them, knocking each one down with a single punch. His four arms made for an astonishingly efficient fighting style; his long limbs allowed him to strike at four targets simultaneously, and within a second, all were defeated. Those felled by the Naga's arm had their skulls crushed, while those hit by Beamon's arm were reduced to a pulpy mess, their bones shattered.
The scene sent a chill down the spines of all who witnessed it. The leader, trembling with fear, stammered, "Morgan, this is your chance! Kill him, and I'll guarantee you noble status when we return!"
Morgan was the strongest member of the team, an elite fifth-level warrior on the cusp of sixth-level. He was considered a formidable figure in the realm. Standing around two meters tall, he wore a suit of high-quality plate armor that bore the mark of a dwarven master craftsman.
In his late sixties, Morgan was considered middle-aged on this continent. His years of experience had honed his judgment and caution. Witnessing Old Evil's brutal display, he was hesitant to engage in a life-or-death struggle with an unknown adversary. However, the prospect of being guaranteed noble status by his master stirred his ambition.
For Morgan, born into humble beginnings, the pursuit of noble rank had been his lifelong dream. But achieving such status was no easy feat; even as a fifth-level warrior, he was still subservient to others. Becoming a Sword Saint was the only way, but given his age and talent, it was an unattainable aspiration. Thus, under normal circumstances, his dream of nobility seemed unattainable.
Yet today, Old Evil's appearance presented him with such a rare opportunity. Faced with this once-in-a-lifetime chance, he would not abandon it even if it meant risking his life! Morgan's eyes turned red after receiving his master's assurance, exuding an intense aura that even made Old Evil feel a tinge of caution.
"ROAR!" With a fierce cry, Morgan transformed into a streak of light, charging at Old Evil like a storm. As he rushed forward, his momentum kept escalating. When he was just a dozen meters away, he leaped into the air, reaching the peak of his power. He released a dazzling burst of Aura, akin to a sun, and crashed down on Old Evil like a meteor.
From Morgan's experienced perspective, the green orb beside Old Evil was likely used to amplify his attacks, explaining how he could instantly slay a Level 4 Warrior. Morgan had observed that Old Evil gathered his Aura by striking others. Thus, he rushed forward in a hurry, determined to prevent Old Evil from accumulating his energy and strike him down with a single blow.
However, seeing Morgan diving at him, Old Evil didn't show any sign of tension; instead, he smiled gleefully. Morgan, being foolishly overconfident, assumed that like others using Tiger Strike, Old Evil needed to hit something to gather his Aura. But Old Evil was different. Just before arriving, he had invented a new method of gathering Aura: striking his fists together.
Due to the mutual impact, the force and reaction force acted upon Old Evil, allowing him to accumulate twice the amount of Aura in one strike. This was why, when he arrived, his blast of six energy orbs, which shattered the stone slab, earned him a scolding from the senior mage.
Morgan, in his foolishness, had leaped up to strike at Old Evil himself, presenting himself as a gift on a platter.
Old Evil wouldn't let this opportunity slip. He stood firm with slightly bent knees, establishing a solid stance. Then, with fists clenched, he struck them together in pairs, each impact accumulating four qi. In the blink of an eye, twelve faint green energy orbs materialized around him. It was at this moment that Morgan, having reached the apex of his leap, dove towards Old Evil.
However, upon seeing the cluster of energy orbs beside Old Evil, Morgan's confidence wavered, and he was filled with regret. He had just witnessed Old Evil effortlessly defeat a Level 4 Warrior with three qi. Now, with twelve qi at his disposal, Morgan had foolishly charged forward. There was no chance to dodge now; he could only steel himself for the collision. Could he withstand it?
With no other option, Morgan funneled all his remaining battle aura into his dual-bladed sword, charging recklessly. Old Evil, unyielding, promptly absorbed the twelve energy orbs into his body and then exhaled, unleashing a powerful cry as all four arms struck simultaneously.
A loud thud echoed as the immense energy from Old Evil's limbs condensed into an oval, pale-blue force field, roughly a meter in diameter. It resembled a cannonball as it slammed ruthlessly into Morgan.
In the next moment, Morgan let out a miserable scream and flew backward, crashing to the ground after traveling several dozen meters. The sword broke, the armor shattered, and he was left resembling a pile of mush; it seemed unlikely that any of his bones remained intact. Upon hitting the ground, he only had time for a fleeting glance at his master before drawing his last breath.
This terrified everyone, including their leader. They all cried out in alarm and turned to flee. If a Level 5 warrior could be instantly killed, how could they muster the courage to fight Old Evil? As the saying goes, when an army collapses, it falls like a mountain.
Unfortunately for them, Old Evil wasn't willing to let them escape. Seeing them run, he hastily pursued. At this point, they scattered like a flock of frightened ducks, making it inconvenient for him to take them down one by one with his fists. Reluctantly, Old Evil resorted to magic. His Naga arms darted about, launching bolt after bolt of Lightning Arrow at the fleeing foes. Although Lightning Arrow was a low-level spell with limited power, it was more than enough against unarmored, unprotected humans.
Meanwhile, Old Evil's Behemoth arm didn't sit idle. It continuously employed the Great Translocation technique from the Profound Yin Spellbook, drawing scattered rocks and weapons to his palm before flinging them away. This technique involved moving objects with one's mind. Back when his cultivation was at its peak, he couldn't lift an aircraft carrier into the sky to use as a plane. However, despite his diminished strength, he could still handle small items.
With the terrifying force of the Behemoth arm and Old Evil's keen eyesight and accuracy, anything he threw would surely claim a life. Thus, his four limbs functioned like a battery of cannons, raining lightning and debris down on the fleeing enemies. Within moments, dozens of them were killed.
