Chapter 5 005
byChapter 5 005
Under the cover of the swirling white mist, Jiang Xingzhuo secretly created a card and pretended to let the player draw it. Through this experience, she gained new insights into the Master Game.
The more detailed and logical something was in her mind, even if it was just made up, the fewer points were needed to create it. More interestingly, the more confidently the creator believed their fabrication, the fewer points were required.
No one knew that beneath the surface of this seemingly noble, mysterious, and dangerous woman, she was concocting all sorts of bizarre things in her mind.
The members of the A-level criminal gang stared intently at Jiang Xingzhuo and the scarred man, as well as the glowing cards.
Jiang Xingzhuo: "Congratulations, you've drawn a Restoration Pill, which can repair ten percent of your body's damage."
What? What Restoration Pill?
The card transformed into a glow and entered the man's body.
The man was terrified, his face pale, taking a step back, thinking he was about to die. However, he felt his scars heating up and itching, making him want to scratch them. Then, he heard gasps from those around him.
"The scar on his face!"
"The scars are..."
The scene was eerie. The scarred man’s face was covered with complex scars from numerous cuts when he was young, making it unrecognizable. The scars were grotesque and disgusting, but now they were slowly wriggling like centipedes. Soon, the color of the scars faded, becoming less prominent, eventually blending with his skin until they disappeared completely!
But it didn't stop there. Besides his disfigured face, the scarred man had also lost two fingers, chopped off in his youth. He felt heat at the stumps and looked in disbelief, only to see his right thumb and index finger growing back slowly.
"What?!"
Everyone's eyes widened in shock, their breaths held.
"My face, my fingers..." The scarred man, as the subject, was even more incredulous, touching his face and fingers, wondering if he was dreaming.
How could this be possible? It couldn't be real, could it? Was he going mad?
"Please flip your card." A gentle, mysterious voice pulled everyone's attention back to Jiang Xingzhuo, whose gaze now held both fear and intense curiosity.
The scarred man's fear of Jiang Xingzhuo grew, along with his anticipation for the cards. He flipped the second card.
The second card revealed a completely transparent body with no patterns or text. The scarred man looked at Jiang Xingzhuo.
Jiang Xingzhuo: "Unfortunately, you've drawn an empty card."
Though disappointed, he understood the nature of the game, much like gambling, where wins and losses were normal.
He flipped the third card.
Jiang Xingzhuo: "Congratulations, you've drawn an ordinary knife."
The fourth card revealed another empty card.
The fifth card revealed another Restoration Pill. As the pill entered his body, the scarred man visibly became stronger, his hair darker, looking five years younger. This stirred even more excitement within the base.
People's joys and sorrows may not align, but desires often do. Wealth and longevity are eternal themes.
The subsequent cards were mostly empty, leaving only the last one.
The final chance always brought the most tension, and everyone shared the scarred man's anxiety.
The card flipped, revealing intricate patterns that were both eerie and mysterious. The card transformed into a black pen, its shape peculiar. The ink cartridge was shaped like two intertwined snakes, with the grip resembling thick snake tongues, forming a normal pen tip at the end. The pen was heavy, bloated, and ugly. Staring at the snake eyes for too long evoked a sense of horror, and holding the snake tongues felt unsettling, as if grasping real ones.
However, the scarred man felt no discomfort, examining the pen, which seemed ordinary despite its ugliness and size. He was slightly disappointed, hoping for another Restoration Pill, as the feeling of rejuvenation was incredible. Moreover, he disliked pens; he hated reading since childhood and resented his mother for forcing him to attend university.
Many middle-aged men around fifty, like the scarred man, were secretly relieved he didn't draw another Restoration Pill, as seeing someone their age become younger and stronger caused them anxiety and jealousy.
Jiang Xingzhuo seemed surprised but quickly recovered. "Congratulations, you've drawn your core card, the 'Demon Judge Pen.' With this pen, you can decide who lives and dies. Write down the name and method of death of anyone you wish to eliminate, and they will die according to your plan. It's a UR card (extremely rare, rarer than SSR)."
What?!
It was like a bomb exploding in a pool. Even the calmest people stiffened. Could this be real? Could such a thing exist? But the scarred man's face and fingers had healed, and an ordinary knife appeared. And this woman... no, she couldn't be human.
"Is this real? Is it a trick?" someone trembled, asking. How could such a thing exist?
Jiang Xingzhuo: "Of course, we never deceive. However, although the ink cartridge is bulky, it will eventually run out. Please use it wisely."
The scarred man shuddered, feeling hostile gazes from all directions. He hugged the ugly, terrifying pen tightly. Use it up? The pen contained enough ink for two bottles. How many names could he write? Who would he fear? He could become... a god!
Others thought similarly. With so much ink, how many corpses could pile up? If he wrote smaller and used simpler methods...
"Excuse me, can I also draw a set?" someone immediately asked, seizing the opportunity. They had ten million and wanted to draw the same items!
Everyone suppressed their chaotic thoughts.
In the tense silence, Jiang Xingzhuo smiled warmly. "Of course."
"Congratulations, you've drawn a Restoration Pill."
"Congratulations, you've drawn an Invisibility Cloak, usable for 10 minutes, with a cooldown of 72 hours."
"Congratulations, you've drawn Weight-Reducing Shoes..."
"..."
"I want to draw too!"
"Me too!"
"Another set!"
"Again!"
"..."
In this A-level criminal gang's headquarters, the wealthy outlaws became increasingly obsessed with drawing cards, one after another, group by group, quickly succumbing to a frenzy of greed, like gamblers with bloodshot eyes.
In fact, what was the difference from a gambling table? This was even more thrilling than betting money on a table. No one knew whether the card they flipped would be empty or an opportunity for rebirth and a life-changing moment.
However, not everyone was so wealthy. The lion's share of each crime went to the boss, then trickled down through the ranks, creating a significant wealth gap. In everyday life, some might harbor dissatisfaction, but it remained just that—dissatisfaction.
Coincidentally, Jiang Xingzhuo's set price of ten million was quite subtle. People find it hard to feel a strong desire for something too far out of reach; they would immediately give up before even trying, thinking such good fortune could never be theirs.
Yet ten million was a price that these outlaws found both expensive and not too expensive. It was like a carrot dangled just out of reach, full of temptation, making their hearts race. Many at the bottom, lacking the funds to draw even once, began to grow red-eyed with envy, their dissatisfaction boiling over into resentment and hatred.
They contributed just as much effort in every operation, yet received only a fraction because they joined later. Even a little more would have been enough! But there was none. Those miraculous items drawn by others could have been theirs too!
Besides the jealousy and resentment of those who couldn't draw cards towards those who could, there was also resentment among those who did draw. The non-Luck Emperors harbored hatred towards the Luck Emperors. Some drew ten cards and got nothing but blanks or ordinary knives, while others had a fifty percent chance of getting something extraordinary in ten draws. It was hard not to feel bitter and murderous.
The entire headquarters was filled with various negative emotions.
And the creator of these negative emotions stood at the front, smiling gently, her black eyes soft, as if enveloped in a hazy glow, appearing almost angelic. Yet, beneath that facade, all the jealousy, hatred, anger, and greed swirled around her, being consumed by her.
Master: Jiang Xingzhuo
Level: Lv1 (Apprentice Master)
Energy Points: 0...5283...8902...12938...30292...41092... (rapidly increasing)
Creativity Level: Lv1 (still very weak, far from commanding wind and rain, keep working hard!)
Servants: 49 (number of servants rapidly increasing, quality moderate, continue creating nightmares!)
At the outermost edge of the crowd, a young man watched this madness and absurdity, his heart pounding, his fingers numb. He wanted to draw cards too, driven by greed, but he was different from the rest.
He was an undercover agent.
This A-level super criminal gang, with its 49 members, had deep roots, committing countless atrocities, yet always slipping away like eels. To gather evidence and take them down, he had been undercover for three years.
During these three years, he had seen the ugliest sides of these people, witnessed human evil, and encountered many bizarre events. But nothing compared to this—it was simply... unbelievable. He wondered if he was dreaming.
He needed to find a way to relay this information—the mysterious creature and its magical cards, especially the Demon Judge Pen in Scarface's hand! With such a pen in the hands of these people, this already broken world would only sink deeper into despair! The fate of the heroes feared by criminals, those great individuals...
He wanted to leave but didn't dare move. He felt that any action would be impossible to hide from Jiang Xingzhuo.
Jiang Xingzhuo: "It's just the Cthulhu aura causing illusions, ^_^."
At this moment, the last card drawer finished, having run out of money.
Jiang Xingzhuo smiled and said, "Today was a pleasant day, everyone. The game is over, but I hope we meet again."
As she spoke, the vortex dissipated, and before anyone could say another word, Jiang Xingzhuo vanished, taking the oppressive presence with her. Everyone breathed a sigh of relief.
Two seconds later, they realized everything was over. The mysterious woman, whether god or other entity, had left. Their heated minds cooled, and reason returned. The empty cage and tangible loot in their hands proved it wasn't a dream.
A subtle atmosphere spread.
Then, the boss, seemingly calm, spoke up, "What you saw just now was incredible. We need to report this to our superiors. Limited cards, keep them. Non-limited cards... keep them too."
Limited cards were usually used immediately, like the Healing Pills that flew into the drawers' bodies. Non-limited cards could be held, lost, stolen, and used by others.
Those who thought the boss wanted to confiscate their loot breathed a sigh of relief.
"But..." the boss turned, looking at Scarface, "Scarface, you're lucky. Hand over that pen, and you'll be on par with me."
Scarface laughed, "Sure thing."
"Hand it over." The boss's eyes held a hint of threat, and others surrounded Scarface. That pen was dangerous; whoever held it could finish off their enemies. There were many within the organization who had grudges against Scarface. Of course, if the boss got the pen, whether he would hand it over was uncertain.
Scarface grinned, "Hand over your grandma!"
He suddenly pulled out a small, tattered notebook, originally used to track his share of the loot. Now, it revealed pages filled with names and methods of death. Scarface had written many names during their card-drawing frenzy but cleverly omitted periods. Without periods, the death plans weren't complete, and the Judge Pen wouldn't work.
He wrote the boss's name first and quickly added a period.
The boss had just stood up when he suddenly bled from his seven orifices and fell, dead.
Miss Jiang Xingzhuo, unable to truly transform into a non-human entity, still stood in the cage, invisible, smiling at them.
The show was about to begin.
