    Chapter 30: Unexpected Discovery

After selecting their rooms, the three families boarded separate small sightseeing vehicles with their luggage, heading to their respective accommodations.

The residence assigned to Gu Qingyin and Huo Xinghai was a two-story villa with Japanese-style tatami decor. Warm lighting greeted them at the entrance, making it look quite cozy.

Gu Qingyin instinctively surveyed the surroundings.

The house had likely been vacant before, as a faint aura of yin energy hung in the air, but it wasn’t a big issue. Staying for a couple of days would disperse it as human activity would naturally dispel it.

"The bedrooms are upstairs, and the first floor is the common area and kitchen," the production assistant whispered as a reminder. "You two can rest for now. Meet at the beach in an hour—swimsuits required!"

Gu Qingyin smiled and thanked him before heading upstairs with Huo Xinghai.

Cameras had already been installed in the villa beforehand, so the cameramen and production assistant left after giving instructions.

Upstairs, there were three bedrooms with similar layouts, each featuring a private bathroom and a walk-in closet, though their orientations differed slightly.

Gu Qingyin chose the south-facing room, while Huo Xinghai picked the one across from hers, which had slightly less natural light but an extra window for better ventilation.

After unpacking, Gu Qingyin took a shower and immediately lay down—finally, she could catch up on sleep.

An hour later, the three families trickled in on the beach.

Gu Qingyin and Huo Xinghai arrived first, standing side by side with matching tired looks on their near-identical faces.

Seeing this, the director thought, *Who could possibly doubt their relationship after witnessing this? Unless they’re blind.*

Soon after, Lin Xian and Lin Tian arrived one after the other.

Gu Qingyin glanced up and instantly perked up.

Did the Lin siblings spend this hour robbing a tomb? They were practically dripping with yin energy—you could barely see their faces.

Lin Xian was still alright—his strong yang energy masked any obvious signs. Lin Tian, however, was a different story. Though her makeup made her complexion appear fine, her eyes were downright lifeless.

As she walked past Gu Qingyin, she shivered and muttered, "The sun’s so bright, yet I feel so cold. Am I getting sick?"

Gu Qingyin leaned closer and asked softly, "What were you doing earlier?"

Lin Tian was momentarily taken aback by her sudden closeness but answered politely, "Nothing much. I just unpacked and took a nap at the villa." She frowned. "I got chills while showering—maybe the water was too cold."

Gu Qingyin was surprised. The villa the Lin siblings had chosen had a futuristic design and should have been recently renovated. How could it have such dense yin energy? Could it have been ghosts because the place was so isolated? That would be incredibly unlucky.

Lowering her gaze, she mulled it over—she’d need to sneak over to the Lin siblings’ villa tonight.

Not long after, Fu Zimo and his mother arrived, and the livestream kicked off.

    "Swimsuits!!!"

"Hai Baoer actually has abs! I always thought he was a kinda scrawny guy!"

    "I’m screaming! Husband material!"

"Lin Tian’s swimsuit is so modest, with tiny pink strawberries on it—so on-brand for her!"

"Suddenly, Brother Lin looks much handsomer. A hot bod is a guy’s best accessory!"

"Did NOT see the moms’ looks coming!"

"One in a professional sporty style with long sleeves and shorts, the other in a fairy-like outfit with a tank top and short skirt."

"Wow... Mrs. Huo's figure is incredible. Seriously, how does she maintain it?"

The livestream audience was highly enthusiastic, and the director was also very satisfied. He raised a loudspeaker and started the program.

"As everyone knows, this is a travel reality show focused on relaxation and fun. There are no tasks next—only experiences." The director pulled out a stack of photos. "Here are six activities. Take a look. Each family must try at least two."

"But!" The director's tone shifted temptingly. "For every extra activity you try, there’ll be one more extra main course at lunch! In short, it’s the difference between eating enough and eating well. You decide."

The staff stepped forward to distribute the activity photos, and the six members of the three families passed them around.

All six activities were quite common, with varying difficulty levels.

Parasailing and water jetpack were all about guts. Jet skiing, wakeboarding, snorkeling, and kayaking required skill—even with guts, you might still fail.

"Director," Huo Xinghai asked the key question after reviewing them, "for these activities, does just one person’s participation earn the reward, or do both members of the group have to do it?"

Lin Tian widened her eyes, her gaze unconsciously pleading as she looked at the director. Fu Zimo and his mother also listened intently.

The director smiled faintly. "The extra dishes are for both, so of course, both must participate."

Lin Tian immediately whined, then got an idea and shouted, "Director! Get me a thermometer! I think I have a fever!"

Since it concerned the guest’s safety, even if the director suspected Lin Tian was lying, he still had the medic bring a thermometer.

After taking her temperature, it turned out she did have a low-grade fever.

Lin Tian’s eyes instantly lit up. "I can’t go in the water! My brother will do it for both of us!"

Lin Xian clicked his tongue. "Why are you always getting sick?" He reached out and ruffled Lin Tian’s hair. "Go back, take some medicine, and sleep. I’ll win you a feast."

For the sake of the feast, Lin Tian reluctantly buttered him up a couple of times.

Meanwhile, the production team had finished discussing.

"Since Lin Tian can’t enter the water due to health reasons, if you want extra dishes, Lin Xian will have to do double the activities—each activity must be done twice." The director explained the compromise. "Can you accept that?"

Lin Xian lifted his chin, didn't bat an eye. "Sure."

Lin Tian gave him a thumbs-up, then turned to head back to the villa—only to be stopped by Gu Qingyin, who had been waiting nearby. "Wouldn't you be bored going back alone? Have them set up a deck chair and a parasol here. Wouldn't it be more fun to watch us try the activities?"

Lin Tian was tempted. "But I’m cold."

"Just put on more clothes," Gu Qingyin whispered persuasively. "If you go back, you won’t get any camera time."

Lin Tian hesitated. Her original goal was just to avoid the water activities. Now that she’d achieved that, she didn’t necessarily have to return to the villa. Besides, the whole point of joining the show was exposure—missing even a single shot would be a loss.

Lin Tian smiled and thanked Gu Qingyin, then went to negotiate with the production team.

Soon, the team set up a deck chair and parasol for her, even throwing in a loudspeaker so she could cheer on the guests.

Wrapped in a jacket, Lin Tian sat in the chair, half-laughing, half-complaining. "So I’ve just unlocked a new role as an observer? Should I sign a new contract?"

The director scoffed. "In your dreams."

Lin Tian huffed. "Since you’ve complimented my beauty, this goddess will let it slide."

After this short break, the three families set off for their respective challenge locations.

Gu Qingyin followed behind Huo Xinghai, rubbing her fingers together.

This wasn't your average Vengeful Ghost - it had the distinct feel of a Ghost Cultivator.
