    Chapter 10

The final result was that Wen Zhi and Mu Mu stayed in the "deluxe stargazing suite," Liu Yiru and her son got the quilted mattress room, Lin Jiyao and his younger sister stayed in the wooden bed room, while Wen Bingchun and the pudgy kid ended up sleeping on the floor.

Wen Zhi and Mu Mu hauled their bags toward their room when Lin Xiaoxiao, hugging her doll, came running over. She tugged at Wen Zhi’s sleeve and asked softly, "Pretty lady, can I come to your place to see the stars tonight?"

The little girl’s cheeks were flushed, shy yet hopeful.

Wen Zhi patted her head. "Of course! Mu Mu would love to hang out with you too."

Hearing the chatter, Liang Sensen also ran over and asked Mu Mu, "Can I come too?"

Mu Mu nodded. "Sure, you can bring your mom along as well."

Liang Sensen bounced with excitement, while Wen Xiaowen snorted, pouting, "Who even cares about stars? My house has a villa, a huge terrace, and a telescope—I can even see the moon!"

Mu Mu deadpanned, "Then go home and watch it tonight."

    Wen Xiaowen: "..."

"HAHAHA, the little chub got owned in one sentence!"

"HAHAHA, truly mother and son—both Wen Zhi and Mu Mu shut him down without breaking a sweat!"

    "I... I..." Wen Xiaowen stammered.

Mu Mu added, "Honesty’s what matters—liars get lied to."

Wen Xiaowen looked utterly confused again. "Honest-what? Lie-what?"

Why did they always say such weird things?

Wen Bingchun, standing nearby, chuckled. "Mu Mu, why do you sound like such a tiny professor at your age, talking all fancy?"

Wen Zhi smoothly countered, "My Mu Mu loves traditional Chinese studies—he’s into the classics—Four Books, Five Classics, Six Arts. He’s just too outstanding. I brought him on this show hoping he’d relax and do more normal kid stuff."

Then, smiling at Mu Mu, she added, "Mu Mu, next time, speak more plainly when talking to Xiao Wen. Even his sis wouldn’t get it."

Mu Mu nodded and explained to Wen Bingchun, "Auntie, I just meant, if Xiao Wen wants to see the stars, he should just say so honestly. I wouldn’t have refused."

Being earnestly explained to by a child was the biggest burn.

Lin Jiyao was the first to laugh, while the others stifled their giggles.

Wen Bingchun’s face turned red with suppressed anger, faking a smile. "Oh... really? Mu Mu is so smart." After being roasted by both mother and son, she figured she’d have a stroke if she stayed any longer.

Dragging her equally red-faced brother by the arm, she bolted back to their room with their luggage.

What good was being quick with a comeback? She only had a middle school education anyway.

"Wen Zhi went too far! What does she mean by ‘his sis wouldn’t get it’? Is she calling our Ice Beauty stupid?"

"Exactly! If she can’t speak properly, she should shut up. Can’t do squat but talk trash! Our Ice Beauty is a straight-A student from Elite U, fluent in English—how could she not understand some traditional studies?"

"Let’s be fair—Wen Bingchun attacked Mu Mu first. Serves her right that she got roasted?"

"Has no one noticed Wen Zhi only acts cold toward Wen Bingchun but is nice to everyone else? Lin Jiyao treats Liu Yiru and Wen Zhi normally but is distant with Wen Bingchun. Pretty clear who’s the issue here."

"Take the drama elsewhere! I’m here to watch the kids, not your fights!"

The attic stairs were quite steep. Wen Zhi planned to carry both suitcases up, but Mu Mu first huffed and puffed as he carried his small suitcase up with great effort. After reaching the top, he came back down to help her pull the other one.

Despite his small size, he didn’t even flush.

[Child’s POV] Lin Xiaoxiao, holding her doll downstairs, watched in awe and lisped in her tiny voice, "Wow, Brother Mu Mu is so strong!"

Wen Xiaowen, who had just reached his room, immediately dragged his own suitcase out and showed off by lugging it back and forth in front of Lin Xiaoxiao.

Lin Xiaoxiao glanced at him twice, thinking, *Did Brother Xiao Wen’s brain short-circuit? Why is he acting so silly?*

She scratched her head and went back to her own room.

The attic floor was clean and tidy, with a large ceiling fan whirring overhead. The so-called “deluxe room” only had a bed that looked comfortable. Wen Zhi pushed the luggage aside and fished out a chocolate bar from the snack bag, offering it to Mu Mu. "You must be hungry. Have a snack."

Mu Mu shook his head. "Snacks are unhealthy. Chocolate is high in calories and causes cavities."

Wen Zhi coaxed him, "Mom bought this especially for you."

Mu Mu refused firmly. Wen Zhi gave up and popped the chocolate in her mouth before lying down, wrapping herself in a thin blanket and closing her eyes to rest.

Her porcelain-white face was half-hidden, and her long, beautiful hair spread out like a storybook princess.

"All the other parents are busy tidying up and organizing their luggage, but she just lies down as soon as she enters. How tired must she be? (facepalming)"

"Played over a dozen rounds of chess—must have exhausted her already limited brain cells, hahaha."

"Was about to criticize her, but how can you scold someone who looks like this?"

As the comments scrolled, suddenly a giant face filled the camera, startling everyone. Then Mu Mu’s voice rang out, "What is this?" He took a few steps back, glancing left and right.

The trailing cameraman explained, "This is a mounted camera in the room. When we’re not filming, live stream viewers can still see you through this."

Mu Mu frowned. "So a lot of people can see us through this?"

The cameraman nodded and added, in case he didn’t get it, "The more people watching, the more who will like you and your mom."

Mu Mu: "But I don’t like being watched all the time."

The cameraman smiled. "You can turn it off manually before sleeping and turn it back on when you wake up." He even pointed out the switch.

Mu Mu went ‘Hmm’ and turned to look at something else.

After capturing close-up shots, the cameraman left. Once sure no one would come up, Mu Mu approached the camera again, examining it curiously. His huge eyes filled the screen, so close that even his eyelashes were clearly visible.

He squinted one eye, then switched, then covered and uncovered the lens with his hand, grumbling under his breath, lips pursed.

The live stream viewers melted at his antics—until the screen suddenly went black.

Clearly, the live stream had been turned off.

Then, pattering footsteps thudded from downstairs, startling Mu Mu. He quickly turned the live stream back on and, in a flash, jumped onto the bed, frozen like a statue next to Wen Zhi.

"Hahahaha, gave me a fright! Who knew the little rule-follower had this side to him?"

"Probably doesn’t realize his actions were just broadcast live. Hahaha, still just a kid after all."

"Lazy Wen, wake up and look at your son!"

The footsteps in the hallway stopped halfway. A crew member yelled from the hallway, "Wen Zhi, Mu Mu, dinner’s ready!"

Mu Mu let out a long sigh, agreed, and started clinging to his mother.

Wen Zhi dragged herself up, lazy as a cat. After the two went downstairs, dinner was already laid out in the living room.

Liu Yiru waved at her, and Wen Zhi casually took a seat next to her.

At the rectangular table, Wen Bingchun sat with her younger brother and Lin Jiyao on one side, while Wen Zhi found herself seated right across from Wen Bingchun.

Wen Bingchun beamed at the spread. "Wow, dinner looks so lavish! We’re in luck tonight."

Liang Sensen giggled, his eyes crinkling. "Uncle Director said all these are local mountain delicacies—super delicious!"

When the director announced the start of the meal, the already-hungry Liang Sensen dove in first.

Among the group, Wen Bingchun ate very elegantly, picking at vegetables and barely touching the meat dishes.

Well, she’s a celebrity—gotta watch her figure, understandable.

Lin Xiaoxiao clutched a tiny pink spoon in one hand while tugging at Lin Jiyao’s clothes with the other, refusing to eat anything. Lin Jiyao looked visibly annoyed, biting back irritation.

Lin Jiyao and his sister didn’t seem particularly close.

The audience’s attention was quickly drawn to Wen Zhi.

At the table, Wen Zhi had eyes only for the meat—braised pork, trotters, river shrimp, chicken with mushrooms… Her eyes sparkled with delight, looking utterly ravenous.

A stark contrast to Wen Bingchun across from her.

Liu Yiru gawked, while Wen Xiaowen drooled with envy and reached for the braised pork. Just as he picked up a piece, Mu Mu stopped Wen Zhi’s chopsticks with a serious, grown-up tone. "Mom, no picky eating. Doctor Uncle said your stomach is weak—you need more vegetables."

All eyes at the table turned to Wen Zhi.

Still clutching the braised pork, Wen Zhi gave Mu Mu a pleading smile. "But I want meat."

Mu Mu deadpanned a warning. "There’s a kid in the iPad who ate only meat, and worms ate his stomach."

Wen Zhi wasn’t fazed, but the chubby kid dropped his meat, startled.

"OMG HAHAHAHA, I’m dead! Wen Zhi’s fine, but the little chubby got scared bad."

"Little rule-enforcer being all serious is hilarious—just like how I mess with kids, LOL."

"Other parents take care of kids, but this group’s kid takes care of Wen Zhi, HAHAHA."

"Ugh, what’s so funny? A grown-up being this picky, needing a kid to supervise—my definition of pathetic just leveled up."

"Too harsh. Wen Zhi’s aces at chess—and champion picky eater, HAHAHA."

Some in the live chat criticized, while others laughed, but without exception, they all wanted to watch her.

"I just wanna see if Wen Zhi dares to keep being picky in front of Mu Mu."

Wen Zhi nodded solemnly. "Mu Mu’s right. Adults and kids shouldn’t be picky." Then she tucked the pork into lettuce and took a huge bite, right in front of everyone. Smugly, she told Mu Mu, "See? Mom ate veggies."

Mu Mu froze, unable to find fault.

The chubby kid, like he’d struck gold, copied Wen Zhi by tucking pork into lettuce.

Wen Bingchun shot a look at her brother’s round cheeks and stopped him. "No more meat for you."

As soon as she finished speaking, Lin Xiaoxiao, who had refused to eat earlier, suddenly tugged at her brother's clothes and shouted, "Brother, brother, brother... I want lettuce wraps... I want them!"

Liang Sensen also eagerly started eating, alternating between a bite of vegetables and a bite of meat, making sure to give some to Liu Yiru.

Wen Zhi rolled another wrap and stuffed it directly into Mu Mu's mouth, smiling brightly. "Delicious, Mu Mu, let's eat together."

She then picked up a river shrimp and demonstrated to Mu Mu, "Like this—you can wrap anything in it! So tasty!"

    "So good! Brother, more please!"

"Mommy, lettuce wraps are the best!"

The chubby boy, not wanting to miss out, completely ignored Wen Bingchun and quickly joined the lettuce wrap feast.

The other three adults were stunned: How come the picky kids didn’t need coaxing at all, happily alternating between veggies and meat with such enthusiasm?

Sen Sen even ate the tofu he usually hated, Xiao Xiao actually had meat, and the chubby boy chewed lettuce heartily.

Does Wen Zhi just make everything taste better?
