Chapter 84: The End of the Main Story
byChapter 84: The Main Story Concludes
Liang Zeqian wasn't concerned about money, so he let her buy whatever she wished, giving her complete freedom.
The most important thing now was to get married.
Shen Nanxi was kissed awake by him early in the morning. Opening her eyes to a face she was still getting used to, she felt a little disoriented.
"Good doctor, aren't you going to work? You'll be late if you don't hurry."
Liang Zeqian leaned in, continuing to kiss her.
"I smell something."
Liang Zeqian asked, "What?"
"That man-woman smell. You should shower before you leave, or people might say you're unprofessional."
"It doesn't matter."
Shen Nanxi analyzed, "How can it not matter? You're still an intern, and if you're too absorbed in this, people will look down on you. Don't doctors have to do rounds early in the morning? If you don't get up now, you'll be late."
Liang Zeqian couldn't be bothered to respond to her twisted logic.
The more she pushed him, the more he refused to get up.
In the end, he barely made it, getting up at the last minute and rushing out.
Shen Nanxi sat cross-legged on the sofa, the light from her laptop screen reflecting on her face. The real estate agent had sent her information about high-end properties—a luxury penthouse by West Lake, overlooking the bustling city, with convenient transportation and abundant medical resources, making Liang Zeqian's commute easy.
But then she realized they hadn't really discussed where they wanted to live.
The courtyard house in Yunnan was truly beautiful and charming; she hadn't had enough of living there. Aside from the lack of big-city job opportunities, it was incredibly relaxing.
Shouldn't life be lived this way? After all, they didn't have to worry about the pressures of life.
Then again, Liang Zeqian had spent so many years studying medicine, and it seemed a bit wasteful for him to just lounge around with her all day.
She sighed, her fingers unconsciously tapping on the keyboard.
She spent the entire morning wrestling with this question.
Finally, she left the house, planning to go to the hospital to find her Dr. Lin.
Perhaps because she had been so conspicuous yesterday, as soon as Shen Nanxi entered the office, she was recognized by the nurses.
"Dr. Lin hasn't returned from outpatient duty yet, but he'll be back soon. You can wait a bit."
Shen Nanxi grinned.
When Liang Zeqian returned with his supervising doctor, she was deep in thought, head bowed.
"So this is Xiao Jiang? You pretended not to know me the other day—were you testing my judgment?"
Hearing the voice, Shen Nanxi immediately straightened up, puffed out her chest, and put on a docile smile: "Hello, Doctor."
The older doctor looked at her with a smile, then turned to Liang Zeqian and said meaningfully, "Xiao Jiang, are you two planning to get married? Don't forget to invite us to the wedding."
"No problem, no problem. We'll definitely host everyone after we get our marriage certificate. All of Dr. Lin's colleagues are welcome to come and eat their fill, heh."
She was bubbly and direct, completely different from Dr. Lin. It was hard to imagine how they usually communicated.
But perhaps it was precisely her outgoing nature that instantly made her famous in his department.
Especially since this girlfriend had been waiting downstairs for him every morning and evening these past few days.
They were truly a perfect match.
It wasn't until the two kept postponing and finally found time to get their marriage certificate that Shen Nanxi mentioned she had been living in Yunnan for over a year and wasn't very familiar with Hangzhou.
Liang Zeqian had also given a lot of thought to their future, and it wasn't until late at night, after they'd cooled down, that he dared to voice his thoughts.
"Actually, all these years, I've been really tired. It was only the thought of finding you that kept me going. You know I never really liked studying medicine."
Shen Nanxi widened her eyes and looked at him. So this good student had been thinking about how to coast all along—not exactly the image of a dedicated, hardworking young man.
He continued, "But over the years, I've actually found joy and the true meaning of being a doctor. I don't plan to give it up. So let me ask you, do you still have the wish to travel the world with me?"
"Of course!" Shen Nanxi agreed without hesitation. "I've always wanted to travel the world with you, and I've never forgotten that! A healthy body is meant to experience the beauty of the world. We're so rich, of course we should enjoy it!"
"Oh, that's your money."
Shen Nanxi tilted her head and hugged him. "It's our money, ours—shared property, heh."
Liang Zeqian smiled and continued, "Here's what I'm thinking. During these few months of internship, I've realized that this profession really requires continuous learning. I have many shortcomings, and I want to continue my studies—abroad."
Shen Nanxi finally understood what he meant. "That's wonderful, that's wonderful! We've switched roles, haven't we? This time, it's my turn to accompany you abroad!"
While he's at school, they can have weekends and holidays to travel the world—visit the New Zealand fjords she had always dreamed of, see the auroras, and so many other places!
He had been on edge for thirty years; it was time to relax!
That tension didn't need to be so tight anymore. He wouldn't have to study with guilt, worrying that he wouldn't be able to treat her if they met.
These past few days, he felt the meaning of being a doctor for the first time—no careerism, no rush, able to communicate patiently and thoroughly with patients.
He no longer had nightmares at night, didn't wake up startled, and didn't feel sad when alone, occasionally wondering what the meaning of life was.
Now, everything had meaning.
He had a wife, no need for ulterior motives, hobbies, and a career he planned to pursue for life.
He no longer had to worry about money or feel guilty about not being able to provide her with a carefree life like she had before.
Everything was just right—no, everything was so beautiful.
However, Liang Zeqian's application to study abroad would still take a few months.
For the remaining two or three months, he still needed to work hard, diligently, and carefully, going to rural areas with his mentor every month for free clinics and reviewing scans.
Shen Nanxi took over the list and contact information of those Liang Zeqian had donated to and would regularly donate to people in need.
But this time, the name noted wasn't "Liang," but "Fei Qian."
No matter whether he wanted to use his old name or not, she would no longer use the name her father had given her.
On the day they went to get their marriage certificate, the weather was originally fine, but for some reason, as soon as they stepped out the door, it suddenly started pouring.
The two of them took cover in the hallway.
Shen Nanxi said a little fearfully, "Could it be that heaven doesn't want us to get married?"
Liang Zeqian replied, "How could that be? The Qixi Festival is coming soon. The Cowherd and the Weaver Girl are reuniting, and it has touched heaven."
She said with a smile, "Did we touch heaven too? Great people achieve great love. It must be that our love moved the heavens, bringing us together in such a miraculous way for a lifetime. That's so wonderful."
He lowered his gaze and remained silent.
Seeing him like this again, Shen Nanxi's eyes followed his. "Dr. Lin, what's wrong? Didn't you miss me so much over the years that you cried?"
"No..."
"How could you not? I don't believe it. These days, you've been doing all sorts of things with me, never tiring of it, completely unlike your cold and pristine demeanor at the hospital. Dare you say you never fantasized about me to the point of sickness, crying in secret? Don't worry, I won't expose your image as a great doctor with a pure heart, abstinence, and self-restraint."
"..." Liang Zeqian wrapped his arms around her. "Stop talking, there are people around."
"What's wrong with being in public? We're legally married. Couples saying sweet things helps bring us closer."
"Is this what you call sweet talk?"
"Then, Dr. Lin, tell me what counts as sweet talk. Give me an example so I can be more precise in the future and avoid you picking on me."
When he didn't respond, Shen Nanxi wrapped herself around his arm, *sajiao*-style. "Why aren't you saying anything? Dr. Lin~ why aren't you paying attention to your dear wife? Say something~ come on, say something~"
Her voice sang in a playful, melodic tone, utterly intoxicating.
How did he end up with such an adorable wife!
Liang Zeqian could endure it—in the middle of the day, he definitely had to hold back!
"You can call me by my name."
Shen Nanxi pouted. "No, I want to call you Dr. Lin, Dr. Lin, Dr. Lin..."
She called until it drove him crazy (in a good way).
On their way home after getting their marriage license, they went to the supermarket and bought a lot of groceries. Liang Zeqian planned to prepare a special dinner and had ordered a gorgeous cake in advance.
But as soon as they got home, they got distracted.
She thought kissing, cuddling, and being swept off her feet would take at least a few hours, but this man had changed so much.
He was unusually calm and composed, as if he truly had incredible self-control against beauty.
After letting her go, he went to cook.
After years apart, his cooking skills were astonishing—the way he chopped vegetables, handled fish, and seared steak to perfection.
Wow.
In this lifetime, they relied on each other and spent their days as husband and wife. Shen Nanxi wasn't idle; aside from distracting him while he cooked, she hung onto him from behind and occasionally helped with washing and preparing vegetables.
His hands were like surgical knives, precise and meticulous. The place stayed neat and organized throughout the entire hour of cooking.
Shen Nanxi leaned against the doorframe, her fingers tapping lightly, her eyes following him busily back and forth. Thinking that in this life, she could enjoy both "below" and "above," she felt so happy she could almost fly!
If he continued as a doctor in the future, he probably wouldn't have time for this, and Shen Nanxi didn't plan for him to busy himself with these tasks daily. But today was their wedding day—special.
In the future, they would hire a nanny, one who cooked incredibly well. If they had children, they'd hire a whole team of nannies.
In this life, they absolutely would not suffer or struggle; they would live an easy and carefree life, without any discomfort.
That settled it.
The pre-ordered cake arrived right on time, knocking on the door just as Liang Zeqian finished cooking.
Shen Nanxi drew the curtains; the dim lighting made it more romantic.
Since they didn't have a proper dining table, they sat on the floor, toasting and drinking red wine first.
They barely touched the food, unable to resist tangling together again.
So many days had passed, yet their hearts still raced, uncontrollably reliving those four years.
Luckily, a lifetime is long, and they still had plenty of time to be together.
The wedding was held just as he was about to wrap up his work at the hospital. Neither of them had parents, so there was no need to notify anyone.
Teachers, colleagues, and leaders from the hospital came to congratulate them. A few of Shen Nanxi's classmates from Hangzhou also attended. After years apart, the person who had once been hospitalized was not only better but also had a husband.
They burst into tears and hugged when they saw each other.
The ceremony was very simple, with everyone chatting and relaxing freely on the lawn.
The venue was filled with fruits, snacks, and a help-yourself spread—no formalities, no need for polite small talk.
It was truly warm and beautiful.
The bride and groom were pretty low-key today. During the wedding vows, they didn't say much and didn't follow the celebrant in reciting the same promises.
After all, this was their second wedding. Those deep emotions had long been hidden in countless days and nights of embraces, with no need for flowery words to declare to outsiders.
When Shen Nanxi looked back at her husband, she saw his eyes bright and shining as he gazed at her. She couldn't help but stand on tiptoe and whisper lightly in his ear, "Let's share a toast with linked arms."
Liang Zeqian responded softly, "Okay."
The breeze on the lawn carried the scent of grass, lifting Shen Nanxi's hair and brushing it against his face.
After sharing the cross-cup wine, Shen Nanxi stuck out her tongue. "That's strong!"
Liang Zeqian handed her a piece of chocolate cake to bite—this time, only letting her take half a bite.
He ate the rest.
They smiled at each other, made even sweeter by their joy.
They both knew this wedding was a quiet celebration for their rekindled destiny.
From now on, they would be together day and night, every moment, never to part again.
How wonderful to love again, marry again, and share their whole lives together.

I don’t know what this was, but it was so messy and unnecessarily confusing. I did like the female lead, but she was so wishy washy it was frustrating to read. I straight up dont like the male lead. I tried reading without skipping ahead, but legit halfway through i couldnt with their misunderstandings and her lying. Even though i understood why, i feel like the writer made it so complicated for no reason.
I thought because others liked it, its be good but it was disappointing. I am happy theyre happy and together but this is definitely not my type of love story nor would have i ever paired any woman with a man like this, nor would i have ended such a plot in this manner.
