Chapter 11 So it seems, her system isn't that...

Guan Xia was baffled, her expression dazed as she read those lines over and over again. It wasn't until the system interface disappeared that she began to process things slowly.

What did "overly divergent soul fluctuations" mean?

And what was a "Detective Novel fusion world"?

What did "to ensure the host's safety" mean?

Perhaps from reading it too many times, Guan Xia felt like the words were losing their meaning as she recalled what she had just seen.

Spreading out flat on the bed, she tried hard to calm down and began to analyze carefully.

What bothered her the most were the words "Detective Novel fusion world."

Although her start in this world had been somewhat rocky, thanks to the relatively well-established modern social system, she hadn't ended up homeless. Even relying on her cleverness and hard work, she had made a life she was quite satisfied with.

Guan Xia carefully recalled her experiences over the years. The process hadn’t been without its twists and turns, but it had required all her effort. Most importantly, she hadn’t noticed anything out of the ordinary.

In her understanding, a world like that of a detective novel, especially one fused with who knows how many others, should be teeming with murderers and an abnormally high number of psychopaths, right? But she had grown up to the age of 25 and only encountered one such case this year.

Guan Xia had previously speculated that perhaps the system had been in her mind since her transmigration, but it had remained dormant because the prerequisite of being questioned by the police hadn’t been triggered.

Muttering the words "LowProfile Aura" a few times, Guan Xia suspected that the reason she had been able to live safely in such a high-risk world was likely due to the protection of this aura.

So it seems, her system wasn’t that useless after all.

The divergent soul fluctuations were also easy to understand. After all, she wasn’t a native of this world. If a world were viewed as having a certain frequency, then as an outsider, she would indeed stick out compared to the natives.

With this analysis, Guan Xia suddenly felt a little hopeless.

She had previously thought that even without a golden finger (cheat ability), she could live quite well after transmigrating. So even with the system, she could use it as needed. But now, knowing about that crucial LowProfile Aura, Guan Xia had to reconsider her plans.

Tossing and turning in bed again and again, likely preoccupied with her thoughts, Guan Xia was reluctant to get up. It wasn’t until Pang Le, unable to bear it any longer, pushed the door open and pulled her out of bed.

"It’s almost seven, Guan Xia," Pang Le pulled her up and stood with hands on her hips by the bedside. "Even if you’re not hungry, you shouldn't sleep any longer. Otherwise, how will you sleep tonight?"

"Having slept this late, I definitely won’t be able to sleep tonight," Guan Xia muttered softly. Under Pang Le’s urging gaze, she obediently went to freshen up.

After finishing breakfast and cleaning the kitchen, Guan Xia found her suitcase and began packing.

Pang Le, coming out of the bathroom after washing his hands, looked surprised. "So eager? Are you going back tonight?"

Guan Xia counted on her fingers. "I’ve been staying at your place for over a week. Now that the killer has been caught, it’s time I went back."

Pang Le glanced outside. "But it’s already dark."

Guan Xia’s mind was still full of thoughts about the system. She just wanted to find a quiet place to think, so although she understood Pang Le’s concern, she kept her head down and stayed busy.

Pang Le laughed helplessly. "Alright, I’ll take you back in a bit."

This time, Guan Xia didn’t refuse.

She hadn’t brought much with her, so packing was quick. In just over ten minutes, Guan Xia closed her suitcase, zipped it up, and turned to Pang Le looking refreshed. "I’m ready, shall we go?"

Pang Le was already waiting by the door. Hearing this, he jangled the keys in his hand, took Guan Xia’s suitcase, and headed out first. "Let’s go."

It wasn’t until he parked the car at the entrance of Guan Xia’s apartment complex that Pang Le suddenly remembered something. "I think you left your hiking pole at my place."

Having not used it for days, Guan Xia had completely forgotten about it. Only now did she remember. After a moment’s thought, she said, "Forget it, just leave it at your place. We’ve agreed to go camping this weekend anyway, so you can bring it for me then."

"No problem," Pang Le agreed. He carried Guan Xia’s suitcase all the way to her door, gave her a few reminders, then went downstairs and left.

Having been away on a trip for over half a month, then only staying one night after returning before being forced to move to Pang Le’s place, plus the empty days in between, the apartment wasn’t exactly dirty, but a fair amount of dust had settled on the furniture.

Guan Xia had to clean for a while. After some thought, she even changed the sofa covers before curling up in a corner with a pillow to ponder.

But she had only just started, before she could gather her thoughts, when her phone, tossed onto the coffee table, suddenly rang.

It was a message. Guan Xia picked it up and was surprised to find it was from that detective.

Qi Bai: Ms. Guan, the case is solved. Thank you so much for providing those two sketches. They were a huge help.

Guan Xia had been worrying about how to maintain contact with the only detective she knew. Seeing this, she quickly replied: You’re welcome. I’m very glad I could help.

Remembering what Pang Le had said about this detective named Qi Bai being easy to talk to, Guan Xia hesitated for two seconds but couldn’t resist asking.

Guan Xia: Sorry, Officer, since the case is solved, may I ask... why did that killer target me?

Qi Bai’s reply was almost instantaneous: It’s a long story. How about this—we’re off in a couple of days. If you have time, we can meet up for a meal and talk?

If seeing Qi Bai’s message earlier was a surprise, this was an absolute delight. It was like a gift from heaven. Pang Le was absolutely right—this detective named Qi Bai wasn’t just a good person; he was an angel.

    Guan Xia immediately agreed: Sure.

Guan Xia thought that would be the end of it, but a few seconds later, there was more.

Qi Bai: I’ll bring a friend along, a colleague of mine. You can bring a friend too.

Guan Xia’s expression paused, then turned meaningful.

Although Qi Bai didn’t know how many friends she had, last night—no, early this morning when she reported the incident—there was only one friend by her side.

It seemed Pang Le’s charm was truly irresistible. Even in such a tense situation, with no interaction between them, and Pang Le wearing a nightgown under an old, shapeless cardigan, Qi Bai had still noticed her.

Recalling Qi Bai’s appearance carefully, Guan Xia couldn’t help but feel a bit of sympathy for him. His figure was quite good, but his looks were too ordinary for Pang Le’s taste. Without even thinking, she knew Pang Le wouldn’t be interested.

But given Pang Le’s curiosity about detectives, Guan Xia didn’t outright refuse. Instead, she called Pang Le.

As soon as the call connected, Guan Xia got straight to the point. "That detective, the one who came last night when we reported the incident, invited me to meet for a meal to discuss the case. He said I could bring a friend. Do you want to come?"

Pang Le laughed. "Of course, why not? I’d also like to know why that killer targeted you. Besides, maybe the friend he brings will be that really good-looking one. Even if I can’t pursue him, just looking is good for the eyes."

Guan Xia snorted coldly. She knew it. Rolling her eyes, she agreed with Pang Le to inform her once there was a confirmed time, then quickly hung up.

After relaying Pang Le’s response to Qi Bai, Guan Xia lost the mood to continue pondering.

Anyway, she had just inadvertently helped the police solve a case, the LowProfile Aura was fully charged at 100%, and she had established a connection with a detective. There was no need to be too anxious. She would take things one step at a time.

No matter how many ideas she had, she was still just an ordinary person. For the sake of her life, she didn’t want to—and didn’t dare to—actively seek out danger.

The next two days kept Guan Xia extremely busy.

First, she went to her new apartment to check how the formaldehyde airing was progressing. She carefully sniffed every corner, confirming there was no noticeable odor, and replaced the plants that had withered from neglect. Satisfied, she returned to her current rental.

After contacting the landlord to inspect the condition of the apartment, agreeing on a moving date and the refund amount for the rent, Guan Xia happily began packing her personal belongings.

The small furniture and appliances she had accumulated over the years of renting had been converted into money by the landlord, so she didn’t need to move them. The rest were just bits and pieces, but organizing them was troublesome.

There were hundreds of books alone, not to mention all the random drawings she’d done whenever inspiration struck. It wasn’t until the day of her dinner plans with Qi Bai that Guan Xia had managed to clear out about half of it.

Struggling to push a large cardboard box she’d just packed onto the balcony, Guan Xia hurried to take a shower and change her clothes, finally finishing just before Pang Le arrived to pick her up.

Grabbing her phone and keys, Guan Xia couldn’t be bothered with a bag and strolled leisurely to the entrance of her apartment complex.

Pang Le wasn’t driving her flashy red sports car today but a white SUV Guan Xia had never seen before.

Settling into the passenger seat and fastening her seatbelt, Guan Xia couldn’t help but ask, "Did you change cars?"

She’d been busy with a lot of things these past two days, and it seemed Pang Le had been keeping busy too.

Turning the steering wheel, Pang Le maneuvered around a taxi waiting to drop off passengers before answering, "No, it’s Pang Qi’s. He came here a couple of days ago for something urgent but had to fly to another city, so he left the car with me. I figured since we’re meeting detectives tonight, it might not be the best look to drive my car, so I brought his instead. It’s just sitting there anyway—no use letting it sit idle."

Though Pang Le often seemed unreliable, she was actually more thoughtful than Guan Xia in many ways.

Guan Xia nodded and shot a sidelong glance at Pang Le’s outfit for the day.

She usually dressed in an exquisitely luxurious style that clearly signaled her wealthy background, but today she was unusually wearing a light-colored dress with mid-length sleeves and a pair of flat, shallow shoes, giving her a softer, more low-key vibe.

Used to Pang Le’s typically dazzling appearance, Guan Xia found it a bit awkward.

Pang Le naturally noticed. While waiting at a red light, she couldn’t help but look down at herself and ask, "Does it look strange?"

After a long pause, Guan Xia finally managed to say, "It looks good, it’s just… not like you."

"Gotta blend in," Pang Le explained lazily. "I looked up the restaurant they chose on the map. The food is great, but if I dressed like I usually do, I’d stick out like a sore thumb."

Guan Xia understood and gave Pang Le a pat on the shoulder. "Classic you—always so considerate."
