Chapter 30
byChapter 30
With the wedding leave approved, it was time for their honeymoon.
Ying Zhiyu had already reviewed the three plans sent by Zhang Jingrui. He hadn’t told Li Xi in advance which one he had chosen, only providing the departure date and the specific time slot Li Xi needed to keep open.
The day before the honeymoon trip, Ying Zhiyu went back home.
This time, he didn’t bring Li Xi along. After staying overnight, he returned to Li Xi’s downtown penthouse apartment the next day with a small suitcase.
Since Ying Zhiyu refused to disclose the destination in advance, Li Xi’s luggage was packed by housekeepers assigned by Butler Zhou Shen.
Li Xi watched for a while and guessed that the place Ying Zhiyu had chosen either had its own distinctive traditional clothing or was excellent for shopping. Otherwise, why hadn’t the housekeeping staff packed a single piece of clothing for him?
When Ying Zhiyu returned home with his suitcase, he opened it, took out half a box of clothes, and handed them to Li Xi to try on.
Li Xi: “…”
Ying Zhiyu: “These are all clothes I’ve worn before. I checked with the stylist; since you don’t wear ‘new’ clothes, try these and see if they suit you.”
Li Xi was ushered into the walk-in closet.
When Li Xi emerged wearing Ying Zhiyu’s old clothes, Ying Zhiyu, still tidying up the luggage, looked up and smiled: “Even hundred-yuan-for-three outfits look instantly classier on Director Li.”
Wearing Ying Zhiyu’s clothes, Li Xi felt a little awkward.
He looked down at the clothes and asked, “Why do I have to wear your clothes?”
After asking, he bit his lip, worried that the Alpha might tease him about the time he wore his shirt.
But Ying Zhiyu didn’t. Instead, he stood up, walked over to Li Xi, and circled him appreciatively.
Ying Zhiyu said, “Director Li’s clothes are too fancy. They won’t be suitable for where we’re going.”
After packing, Ying Zhiyu loaded the bags into the car.
Today, Ying Zhiyu didn’t call a driver and got behind the wheel himself.
Li Xi followed and took the passenger seat.
After driving for about twenty or thirty minutes and leaving downtown, Li Xi turned and asked, “This isn’t the way to the airport?”
Ying Zhiyu, focused on the road, replied, “Yeah,” and added, “Our flight is in the afternoon. We’re making a stop around noon first.”
After another ten or twenty minutes of driving, Li Xi had already figured out where the Alpha was heading.
He stopped asking and sat quietly in the passenger seat.
When they arrived at their destination, Ying Zhiyu parked the car. Pan Da and their security vehicle stopped far away at the nearest exit of the parking lot, but no one got out.
Ying Zhiyu first took Li Xi to buy a bouquet of lilies. On their way back, he asked Li Xi if he wanted to hold the flowers himself.
Li Xi shook his head: “You bought them, you hold them.”
So, Ying Zhiyu cradled the bouquet of lilies in one arm and extended his other hand to Li Xi.
Li Xi looked at it for two seconds before reaching out to take it.
Ying Zhiyu led Li Xi to a standalone grave halfway up the mountain. On the tombstone, a skilled shadow engraving depicted the black-and-white image of a beautiful woman—
That was Li Xi’s Omega mother, Gan Ruyuan.
The Li family had a large private family plot in the Capital Rest Cemetery, where generations of the Li family are buried. However, Li Xi’s mother, Gan Ruyuan, was not buried within this designated family plot.
“Li Songqian probably knew she wouldn’t want to be buried with his family.”
Standing before Gan Ruyuan’s tombstone, Li Xi no longer referred to Li Songqian as “Dad.”
Ying Zhiyu didn’t comment on the affairs of the previous generation. He wasn’t directly involved, and those tangled emotions of love and hate weren’t for an outsider to judge.
So, he simply bent down, placed the white lily bouquet in front of the tombstone, then crouched to pick up a recently fallen leaf near the grave. He lit incense, closed his eyes, and paid respects.
Li Xi looked down at the Alpha’s efficient movements.
He thought, no wonder Ying Zhiyu had specifically asked him to wear black before they left, no wonder they brought fruit, and no wonder they were leaving in the morning for an afternoon flight.
“Mom, rest assured. Your son is living a good life now—rich and powerful, successful in his career, and he’s found a young, handsome Alpha.”
The Alpha called “Mom” smoothly and naturally, interrupting Li Xi’s thoughts.
Ying Zhiyu clasped his hands together and continued muttering: “I don’t earn as much as he does, he gives me spending money, our future children will have his last name, and if he gets tired of me, he’ll be the one to divorce me.”
Li Xi: “…”
Ying Zhiyu opened his eyes and reached out to Li Xi.
Li Xi paused for a moment before taking two steps forward.
Ying Zhiyu took Li Xi’s hand and pulled him close, so they were crouching side by side.
“Look at your son—broad shoulders, a narrow waist, washboard abs. No one can bully him. I’m no match for him…”
A sharp pain shot through his palm as Li Xi pinched Ying Zhiyu hard.
Ying Zhiyu cleared his throat lightly and changed his tone: “Li Yue is also healthy and beautiful. Both siblings are doing well. You can rest peacefully here.”
On the way back, Li Xi kept glancing at Ying Zhiyu from the passenger seat.
Ying Zhiyu, keeping his eyes on the road, asked: “What is it?”
Li Xi stared at the Alpha’s sharp, handsome profile: “You’re the only Alpha son in your family. The children will have my last name?”
Ying Zhiyu raised an eyebrow: “Didn’t the prenup say that clause was specified?”
Not only was the surname of their descendants specified, but it also stipulated that in the event of a divorce, all custody of the children would automatically go to the Omega party.
“Then you…” Li Xi pressed his lips together, halfway through his sentence before turning to look out the window. “Forget it.”
He stopped himself from asking about the Alpha’s real thoughts. It was completely pointless. Even if he asked, the Li family’s descendants could only have the last name Li.
However, Ying Zhiyu seemed to know what he wanted to ask.
The young Alpha kept his hands on the wheel, his tone casual and without hesitation.
“Of course, they’ll have the Li surname. With a trillion in family wealth at stake, not having the Li name would mean they wouldn’t have a leg to stand on claiming the inheritance later.”
Li Xi: "..."
-
Because of someone's nonsense, Li Xi didn't even have time to feel down on the way leaving Anxi Cemetery.
They didn’t return home but drove straight to the airport.
While getting the tickets, Ying Zhiyu explained, "A private jet is too flashy. Director Li will have to settle for first class this time."
Li Xi shot him another glance.
He realized that after spending more time together, the Alpha wasn’t as cold and serious as he appeared on the surface. In fact, he had a cheeky side at times.
On the plane, Li Xi caught up on some sleep.
He could have rested in the VIP lounge earlier, but a certain Alpha, to keep him from finding out their destination in advance, had handed him a pair of headphones blasting death metal at an ear-splitting volume.
When Li Xi woke up, he felt a hand gently playing with his eyelashes.
"Are we there?" Li Xi opened his eyes.
Ying Zhiyu rubbed his fingertips together and asked curiously, "Director Li, don’t you have any morning grumpiness?"
Like that time he woke Li Xi up in the middle of the night.
Every time Li Xi woke up, he would ask questions first instead of getting angry at him.
Li Xi paused.
He… didn’t know if he had morning grumpiness.
Before, no one had ever had the chance to wake him up in such an intimate way.
After getting off the plane, Ying Zhiyu could no longer hide their destination from Li Xi.
Seeing the name of the airport, Li Xi paused, surprised.
After another hour and a half in a taxi, with the driver paid double for the round trip, they finally reached their actual destination. Li Xi stepped out of the taxi and stood there for a good while.
"Why did you choose this place?"
Yaocheng.
It's called a city, but it was actually a county.
It was the hometown of Li Xi’s Omega mother, Gan Ruyuan.
Ying Zhiyu and Li Xi each wheeled a suitcase as they walked. Ying Zhiyu explained along the way, "There will be plenty of chances for those fancy trips like private islands, beach resorts, or luxury hotels in the future. This time, let’s visit your mother’s hometown first."
He led Li Xi into a courtyard that looked pretty old.
They walked up to the second floor of one of the units, found a key, and opened the door.
Before entering, Ying Zhiyu turned back and asked, "Have you been here before?"
Li Xi looked around cautiously and shook his head.
Ying Zhiyu sighed helplessly, "...Aren’t you afraid I might sell you?"
Li Xi: "Didn’t Pan Da and the others follow us?"
Li Xi truly didn’t know where this place was, but he was good at spotting a tail. After getting off the plane, he had noticed Pan Da and a few bodyguards following them in another taxi.
Ying Zhiyu: "..."
Alright, he forgot that Third Prince Li had first-rate awareness—hard to "sell."
Inside, the house clearly hadn’t been lived in for a long time, with no sign anyone lived there recently.
However, its cleanliness suggested it had been specially cleaned recently.
"Is this place..." Li Xi glanced around, his heart stirred. "How did you get the key to this place?"
Ying Zhiyu knew Li Xi had probably guessed it.
He raised an eyebrow. "If I remember correctly, during our marriage, I have the right to live in any property under Director Li’s name."
This was the old family home of Li Xi’s mother, Gan Ruyuan.
Ying Zhiyu had seen this property listed in Li Xi’s list of assets when signing the prenuptial agreement.
After pushing the luggage into the room, Ying Zhiyu turned back and continued explaining, "I contacted Steward Zhou in advance to get the key and had him arrange for the place to be cleaned."
After showing Li Xi around each room, Ying Zhiyu asked, "Is it okay to stay here for the next few days? Or should we find a five-star hotel outside?"
Li Xi glanced at the Alpha again. Someone was clearly asking a question he already knew the answer to.
He didn’t say anything but squeezed Ying Zhiyu’s palm firmly.
Li Xi’s maternal grandparents were still alive. Li Xi’s account had regular monthly transfers to them, but they had never met.
Gan Ruyuan’s death had hit the elderly couple hard. They knew their daughter had been unhappy in her marriage but were powerless to help.
So, after Gan Ruyuan passed away, the couple refused Li Songqian’s support and insisted on staying in Yaocheng, though they moved to a different residence.
"Let’s rest tonight and visit your grandparents tomorrow."
That was just how the Alpha was—whether it was calling Li Songqian "Dad" the day after their wedding, naturally addressing the tombstone as "Mom," or even referring to "Grandpa" and "Grandma," whom even Li Xi had never called that way.
Ying Zhiyu was always poised and natural, as if they were his own father, mother, grandfather, and grandmother.
After unpacking in the evening, the Alpha ordered takeout from a decent-looking chain restaurant for dinner.
After eating, he asked Li Xi if he wanted to go for a walk to digest their food.
Li Xi’s response was to pull the Alpha straight into the bedroom.
The old wooden bed creaked under the strain, the sounds continuing late into the night.
