Chapter 7 The Cold and Beautiful Professor (7)
byLord Villain gazed at Teacher Shen, the bright moonlight pouring down like a waterfall, the silvery glow of the night sky streaming down and resting on Teacher Shen's brow, illuminating his silhouette.
The remaining moonlight spilled generously toward Qi Yan as well, drawing him into a world woven by the moon and shimmering streetlights.
Floating dust danced in the light, becoming fireflies that adorned the scene.
It was the first time Qi Yan realized that moonlight and streetlights standing tall could feel so scorching.
Teacher Shen’s neatly arranged collar had come undone while saving him, revealing the man’s prominent Adam’s apple and a hint of pale skin.
His rolled-up sleeves exposed the young man’s toned muscles, showcasing a strength that was anything but frail.
Perhaps to confirm his safety, Teacher Shen’s gaze also turned toward Qi Yan. Their eyes met, locking in an intense stare.
Qi Yan suddenly felt an unquenchable thirst, his Adam’s apple bobbing repeatedly as if he wanted to sink his teeth into something to fill the emptiness in his heart.
Teacher Shen wasn’t just handsome—the way he fought to protect him was utterly captivating.
An unfamiliar sensation took root in Qi Yan’s soul. Perhaps even he wasn’t aware of how intensely bright his expression had become.
Qi Yan’s voice was scorching: "System, what’s your full name?"
Triple Zero hid its face in its wings, making itself as small as possible.
[The System for Conquering the Villainous Antagonist.]
In front of Teacher Shen, Triple Zero’s chicken face showed pure guilt and fear as it answered, but Qi Yan’s attention wasn’t on it.
The corner of his lips curled slightly: "The System for Conquering the Beautiful Married Man? And if I take on the mission, you’ll assist me all the way, right?"
For the first time, Qi Yan wanted to seriously commit to something because of one person.
Triple Zero didn’t dare make a sound.
Not far away, Teacher Shen’s clothes fluttered in the wind. Beneath his thick, dark eyelashes were eyes devoid of emotion. He lifted his chin and beckoned with a finger at Qi Yan: "It’s dirty over there. Come here to me."
Three bleeding bodies still lay on the ground, moaning in pain. Lying in disarray, they had lost all their earlier arrogance, their disarray mixed with the grime of the ground, an eyesore.
Hearing Teacher Shen’s words, Qi Yan wiped the blood from his face, using it to style his hair with the blood, hoping to cleanse Teacher Shen’s vision.
Qi Yan stepped on the first thug’s foot, the second thug’s wrist, and the face of the slit-eyed leader. Under his heavy stomp, several of the leader’s teeth were knocked loose, and the man winced in pain with every breath through the gaps.
Qi Yan left the groans of pain behind him and walked up to Teacher Shen.
Teacher Shen saw Qi Yan smiling at him: "Teacher Shen…"
In his eyes was a look all too familiar to Teacher Shen—conquest.
Mixed with excitement, shivers, turbulence, and a raw, overwhelming desire.
This gaze was strikingly similar to the desire Qi Yan had shown for him in the previous timeline. How laughable that he had once mistaken it for the boy’s sincere heart.
Teacher Shen’s gaze turned colder, yet his crooked finger straightened, gently resting on Qi Yan’s blood-stained face to wipe away the blood. He coldly scanned the barely conscious thugs on the ground.
As if commending a hero, Teacher Shen said, "Well done."
Before long, the police arrived.
Three people lay injured on the scene, clearly seriously hurt. Qi Yan and Teacher Shen were taken to the police station for questioning.
Qi Yan recounted the events, spicing up the story to paint himself as an innocent victim and Teacher Shen as a righteous hero who stepped in to help.
The thugs had long rap sheets, and a camera at the corner showed they had started the trouble. The incident was ruled as self-defense, and since no one had died, Qi Yan and Teacher Shen were quickly released.
Teacher Shen sat calmly in a chair, a cup of tea poured by the police chief in front of him, listening quietly without speaking.
Qi Yan spoke with enthusiasm, wishing he could say more when he finished. The chief stood up and personally escorted them out.
Outside the police station, a row of greenery stood under bright streetlights, vibrant and full of life. The neatly paved ground, the dark night, and the sparse pedestrians made it feel as if the world had shrunk to just the two of them.
In high spirits, Qi Yan grew more talkative and moved closer to Teacher Shen: "It’s so late. How are you getting back, Teacher Shen? Let me take you."
Teacher Shen glanced outside, his tone indifferent: "I’ve called my husband. He’ll be here soon to pick me up."
Qi Yan wasn’t one to show his emotions easily, but his displeasure was evident as his eyes darkened noticeably. His dark pupils seemed fixed in their sockets, yet the smile on his lips remained, creating a frightening contrast.
Triple Zero silently hid its yellow face behind its wings, concealed within the greenery.
A Bentley, understated in appearance yet exuding luxury, came to a quick stop. The door, with its refined texture, rolled down, and Qi Yan saw the driver he had met before in the driver’s seat.
Then, a pair of handmade leather shoes, polished to a shine, stepped out, followed by a long, powerful leg clad in tailored suit pants. A luxurious wristwatch embedded with two circles of diamonds gleamed.
Dressed in a crisp, ironed suit, the man had the look of someone important, undoubtedly engaged in respectable work among socialites—a far cry from a bar singer.
At a glance, Qi Yan knew he was Teacher Shen’s husband.
Yan Qi.
Qi Yan narrowed his eyes sharply, his gaze sharp and assessing as he scrutinized the man.
Behind the expensive suit was a face obscured by a mask, its features unclear. The man’s neatly styled hair revealed a smooth forehead, and the visible parts of his face—his brows and eyes—were sharp, mature, and handsome.
Utterly different from Qi Yan’s casual demeanor.
Out of the corner of his eye, Qi Yan saw Teacher Shen’s expression melt like ice in spring, a tender, affectionate smile gracing his lips.
He watched as Teacher Shen approached the man intimately, leaning into his arms with a look of dependency Qi Yan had never seen before, their foreheads touching.
He heard Teacher Shen say with a light laugh, scolding his husband: "Darling, you’re sick and still not wearing enough? Don’t you know how worried I’d be?"
"Yan Qi" naturally pulled him closer, leaning in to whisper in his ear. What he said, Qi Yan couldn’t hear.
Together, they looked like the most perfectly matched couple in the world, with none of the neglect Teacher Shen had described—the husband who came home late, left early, and showed desire only once a month.
Qi Yan’s smile faded, bit by bit, vanishing completely.
Hidden in the greenery, the system trembled as it watched the scene unfold like a showdown.
Lord Villain is so twisted—why did he have to bring a dead body here?!
Wait! How did Lord Villain figure out how to control the host’s body from the previous timeline?!
Triple Zero’s data scrambled, its tiny chicken brain filled with question marks. Unable to make sense of it, it decided it was fine as long as the host was willing to go after Lord Villain.
Shen Juan leaned against his husband's chest, his gaze passing under the streetlights and settling on Qi Yan's face with a detached expression. "Get in the car, let’s get you to the hospital."
Qi Yan dug his fingertips into his palm. He lowered his head, then looked up again, revealing an inscrutable smile. "Teacher Shen is taking me to the hospital in the middle of the night. Will Mr. Yan mind?"
Perhaps because he was wearing a mask, Qi Yan’s voice was hoarse and muffled, yet undeniably pleasant. He replied generously, "Of course not. I respect my partner’s wishes."
Ha.
Mr. Yan is really magnanimous.
The Bentley drove along the road, with Qi Yan sitting in the passenger seat. Everything in the rearview mirror was reflected in his eyes, like a monster voyeuristically watching it all, trying to prove something.
Perhaps because Shen Juan was feeling a bit carsick, he saw Mr. Yan feed Teacher Shen a piece of orange candy, and then watched as Shen Juan looked up and smiled.
The two in the back seat exchanged affectionate glances, while Qi Yan’s expression remained stiff, looking visibly displeased.
Damn... they were practically about to kiss.
Qi Yan felt that he, the driver, and the system formed a perfect parallel circuit, each emitting a glaring light without interfering with one another.
And he was the only one who refused to accept it.
Annoyed, Qi Yan instinctively reached for the pen Shen Juan had given him.
Shen Juan took out his phone, tapped on the screen, and took out a pair of earphones. He put the left one in his ear and gently placed the right one into Qi Yan’s ear.
The recording played back.
That pen wasn’t just a remote control.
It could also eavesdrop and record. If it weren’t for the ability to monitor Qi Yan’s movements at any time, Shen Juan wouldn’t have been able to arrive so promptly.
The earphones first transmitted the rowdy noise of the bar—deafening music, along with Qi Yan’s magnetic and alluring voice, and the screams of the crowd.
Shen Juan’s face hardened as he fast-forwarded to the part where Qi Yan walked out alone, followed by the thugs' menacing laughter.
He trimmed the audio, preserving this segment. Once notarized, it would become new evidence. Merely being detained for provoking trouble wasn’t enough.
So many people had tried to gang up on Qi Yan. They should be charged with attempted murder... Shen Juan narrowed his eyes, the sweet and sour taste of the orange candy spreading on his tongue, dispelling some of the nausea from his pregnancy.
He would also investigate why those people had bullied Qi Yan. None of those involved would escape.
Shen Juan slowly crushed the orange candy into bits, swallowing it, pushing aside the fragility of pregnancy. His narrow eyes drooped with cold indifference.
His boy might be foolish, but who gave others the right to set traps and bully him?
Qi Yan’s attention was fixed on Teacher Shen, but since Shen Juan remained seated close to his husband, his gaze shifted to the newlywed couple. He watched as they leaned against each other, sharing the same pair of earphones, appearing sweet and close.
The veins on his hand bulged slightly, his temples throbbed, and a stifling anger filled his chest, burning through his bones. Qi Yan’s expression tightened.
Yet he refused to look away, the scene in the rearview mirror clearly reflected in his eyes.
Suddenly, Qi Yan saw Shen Juan put down his phone and adjust his husband’s collar. "Darling, you’re leaving on a business trip tomorrow. I’ll pack your luggage when we get home. Get some rest early tonight."
Shen Juan’s voice was soft, but it was loud enough for Qi Yan to hear clearly.
...A business trip?
Qi Yan recalled the action movie they had unintentionally watched the night before. Wasn’t the plot about one of the husbands going on a business trip, leading to an affair on the marital bed?
A smirk tugged at Qi Yan’s lips.
A crazy plan quietly emerged.
Triple Zero hid under the driver’s feet. Hearing this, it remembered how Lord Villain had instructed it to schedule the movie to play on the screen—the kind that would make a system blush.
And that hotel room had also been secretly booked by Lord Villain.
It had thought it was just to set the mood, but now... a sudden realization struck it!
Could this have been Lord Villain’s intention all along?!
Carefully crafting the script, planting the idea in the host’s mind that once the husband was away, an opportunity would arise.
Triple Zero shuddered, horrified by Lord Villain’s cunning.
Then...
What would the host do?
