Chapter 74: “Everything You Took, I Didn’t Want” – Part 12.
byChapter 74: "Everything You Took, I Didn't Want" - Part 12.
The sudden turn of events left 996 in shock.
Just tens of minutes ago, it thought Qin Qing had a death wish; a few minutes later, it realized Qin Qing genuinely courted death!
Qin Qing lay motionless in Yin Bozhou's arms. His usually fluttering eyelashes, often moist with tears, now remained still. His face was paler than paper.
996's eyes can see beyond the ordinary, so it realized more acutely that Qin Qing was truly at his limit. His already injured soul had now taken the form of a wisp of blue smoke.
This blue smoke, thin and fragile, clung to his gradually cooling body, as though the faintest breeze could scatter him away.
The spirit, nourished by the Flower of Love across past worlds and having grown robust, was now even frailer. This wasn't a mere regression; it was stepping on the brink of death's door. Moreover, it was an entrance into oblivion, with no chance of reincarnation.
996 was so frightened that its fur stood on end. It rushed over to check Qin Qing's breathing, only to be stopped three meters away by an energy barrier.
This was the spiritual force radiated by Yin Bozhou, who loosely held Qin Qing in his strong arms.
He dared not hold too tightly, sensing that Qin Qing was about to shatter.
When they first met, Yin Bozhou caught a fleeting glimpse of shattered light in Qin Qing's eyes. He never anticipated it would be an ill omen.
Back then, he found those eyes, filled with fragmented luminescence, alluring. Now, they only induced dread.
"Qin Qing! Qin Qing!" His voice trembled.
Rain still poured in his spiritual realm, with post-rain blue skies, white clouds drifting by, and a gentle breeze carrying a fresh scent that cooled the spirit. The once-barren land now blossomed with wildflowers and vines. However, none took the form of Qin Qing's spirit.
Qin Qing's spirit died within his realm, an unequivocal sacrificial act.
Regardless of the intensity of stimuli or how rapidly the spiritual strength grew, Yin Bozhou's realm would never crumble again. It stood as solid as a steel fortress.
He had overcome the genetic flaws and the curse that alpha's average lifespan did not exceed 55 years. Yet, he felt no joy, understanding the price that was paid.
Yin Bozhou, holding Qin Qing, raced outside.
996 quickly followed, but even with its swift movements, it couldn't match Yin Bozhou's speed.
With the complete healing of his spiritual realm, Yin Bozhou had become even more powerful.
"Commander, we've been searching for you!" A few aides approached hastily. "The medical ship is ready. We'll take you to the Central Military Hospital immediately!"
Only upon drawing closer did they notice that the Commander bore no signs of severe injury. Conversely, the medic Qin Qing in his arms seemed on the brink of death.
"What happened?" The aides asked in surprise.
Without answering, Yin Bozhou swiftly boarded the medical ship, instructing the pilot to rush to the hospital. The military department's medical room lacked advanced equipment and medication and wasn't equipped to treat Qin Qing.
Throughout the journey, Yin Bozhou held Qin Qing close. He nestled Qin Qing's head against his neck, wrapped him in his embrace, unbuttoned his military uniform, and covered Qin Qing with his open shirt.
He tried to preserve the faint warmth in Qin Qing with his own body heat.
"I'm sorry. It's not that I don't love you, but you can't know yet how deeply I love you." This remorseful confession echoed in his mind, not bringing contentment, but sheer pain.
He abruptly tightened his arms, wanting to pull Qin Qing close. Yet, in his panic, he gently eased his grip, lowering his gaze to look at Qin Qing's pale face.
He was afraid he might shatter Qin Qing.
The current Qin Qing seemed so fragile that he could break at any moment.
996 perched on a table not far away, mumbling at the unconscious Qin Qing, "What are you thinking, Qin Qing? If the attacker in this world dies, you can always find another in the next world. Why save him? Your math skills are atrocious. Can't you calculate losses? You're at such a loss, Qin Qing! How have you survived this long? Always making life-or-death pacts. What if you encounter a true villain and die? Wouldn't that be a grievous fate? You call me an idiot, but you're the real fool, Qin Qing!"
Unfortunately, Qin Qing heard none of this.
His spirit wafted like a thin mist, ready to dissipate from the slightest jolt.
996's heart tightened.
Yin Bozhou ordered sharply, "Speed up!"
The medical ship accelerated, causing the entire rest cabin to shake.
Yin Bozhou quickly held Qin Qing close, his heavy and hot breath brushing against Qin Qing's face. He immediately turned his head away, directing his breath elsewhere, fearing it might disperse Qin Qing.
Several doctors approached to examine Qin Qing, injecting him with a life-sustaining serum. Their expressions were gravely concerned.
"Commander, he's an Omega, with no psychic power. How did he sustain such injuries? Even a top-tier alpha couldn't endure such damage, let alone an Omega like him. We can only sustain his life for now; we need specialists to consult on the treatment."
Yin Bozhou listened with a face like still water, one hand cradling the back of Qin Qing's head and the other supporting his back, holding him as one would a baby.
He remained silent, and the rest cabin was eerily quiet.
Fear and anxiety consumed 996, and he couldn't help but complain, "You fool, Qin Qing! Wasn't it written in the script? Yin Bozhou's psychic realm was already on the brink of collapse. Regular doses from Qin Gantang kept him stable, and he was content as long as he was alive. Isn't that how every alpha in this world survives? Why meddle? If you hadn't provoked him to the point of mental breakdown, he'd be okay. Why did you exacerbate the situation? Are you out of your mind?"
However, 996 soon realized Qin Qing's intentions.
As the original script was rewritten and the entire plot disrupted, the uncontrollable Yin Bozhou had become a thorn in the royal family's side.
Perhaps, in the original script, Yin Bozhou had always been a target for secret elimination by the royals. Their clandestine methods against him weren't documented, yet Qin Qing had foreseen them.
With Qin Gantang around, it would only be easier for the royals to target Yin Bozhou.
Qin Qing sought to eradicate all the hidden dangers in the original script. Now, the results were evident.
Out of nowhere, three colossal mechs encircled Yin Bozhou. Several unidentified warships clashed in the sky with the Central Military's fleet. To avoid civilian casualties, the Central Military's ships quickly drew the enemy vessels into outer space.
But Yin Bozhou couldn’t retreat, with a hospital not far ahead where Qin Qing needed treatment.
He looked up at the three gigantic mechs hovering in the sky, each standing several meters tall. Their armor bore no insignias, making their allegiance unclear. However, Yin Bozhou suspected these were the doing of the royal family.
He had declared in a café his intention to dethrone the crown prince and, if the royals failed in that, to overthrow the entire royal family. While his words earned massive public support, they undoubtedly challenged the royals' core interests.
The royal family and the Central Military were now sworn enemies.
Without Qin Qing's sacrifice, Yin Bozhou, at this moment, wouldn't even be able to operate the Eye of Thunder, let alone retaliate. Faced with such overwhelming force, his death seemed certain.
But the situation now was completely different. Yin Bozhou, bypassing the towering mechs, seemed but a tiny human, yet capable of completely ignoring these steel giants.
The three mechs looked down on him, their enormous eyes flashing with a cold light. One mech raised its gun, aiming at Yin Bozhou’s retreating form.
A ball of light shot from the barrel. Yin Bozhou continued moving forward at a brisk pace, without dodging.
996 was petrified.
"Help!" it shrieked, ducking for cover.
Yet, a mere second before the anticipated impact, the ball of light was crushed by a massive jet-black steel hand. The Eye of Thunder had appeared out of nowhere, right behind Yin Bozhou.
While Yin Bozhou continued on his path, the unmanned Eye of Thunder activated on its own, fully blocking a full-powered strike from the super mech.
What a terrifying development!
Remote-controlling a mech externally was a tremendously draining mental task, something only a few peak SS-level individuals could achieve. The previous Yin Bozhou could do it, but his limit was controlling the mech for a few dozen meters.
Beyond that range, his psychic tendrils would dissipate, and the mech would fall dormant.
Now, however, Yin Bozhou had already entered the hospital, paying no heed to the ambush. The hospital was several hundred meters away from the battlefield.
Yet, the Eye of Thunder continued fighting! With furious punches, sweeping kicks, and blazing firepower, it obliterated the three super mechs in mere minutes.
Even from hundreds of meters away, Yin Bozhou's psychic tendrils controlled the Eye of Thunder with precision, force, and total mastery.
The previous Yin Bozhou, no matter how powerful, had his limits. But now, he seemed boundless.
Though a mere flesh and blood being, he appeared as though a deity had descended.
996 hid behind a large tree, watching in astonishment as the Eye of Thunder descended from the sky. It tore apart the protective shells of the three mechs, extracting their pilots and imprisoning them within its internal chambers.
No one believed this was an unmanned mech.
The first time 996 saw Yin Bozhou, he was battling Ren Zehuai using the Eye of Thunder. Yet, even then, he wasn't as overwhelmingly dominant as he was now.
The royal family's chances of eliminating this version of Yin Bozhou seemed nonexistent.
996 swallowed hard, finally grasping what Qin Qing had traded himself for.
It was Yin Bozhou's health and longevity, his power and permanence.
"You big idiot! What did you gain by sacrificing yourself? So foolish!" 996 muttered, tears spilling from its eyes.
A passerby captured this battle on video, which quickly spread online. It clearly showed that Yin Bozhou never boarded the Eye of Thunder. The crushing fight took place between the remotely controlled Eye of Thunder and the three super mechs.
The very concept of controlling a mech remotely was staggering. The best result achieved before was making a mech, with creaky movements, walk a few dozen meters. But Yin Bozhou managed to unleash the Eye of Thunder to fiercely battle multiple adversaries without him aboard.
"Commander Yin's Combat Power is Godly!" — This sensational headline dominated major media outlets.
The second hottest topic was how Commander Yin could suppress his psychic turbulence without needing calming agents.
With these breakthroughs, the public realized that Yin Bozhou and his legion were the empire's true pillars, and the royal family seemed as vulnerable as a thin-shelled walnut before him.
Calls to dethrone the crown prince and even to overthrow the royal family spread like wildfire. The people were awakening, and their momentum was unstoppable.
When 996, after sniffing around various floors, finally located the room where Qin Qing was hospitalized, news of Kang Enstan's suicide due to guilt was already headline material.
"He's dead? He was one of the top five attackers!" 996 exclaimed in shock.
The original storyline was turned upside down by the butterfly effect instigated by Qin Qing.
However, unbeknownst to 996, even more disruptive events lay ahead.
The following morning, under his subordinate's guidance, Song Yuanyang entered a budget inn in the lower city.
Although they had agreed to sign a prenuptial agreement, Song Yuanyang, arriving at the address provided by Qin Gantang, found him missing. He searched the entire night.
His urgency wasn't out of concern for Qin Gantang's safety, but rather a desire to learn the reasons behind Yin Bozhou's surpassing of human limits from him.
6 hid behind a large tree, watching agape as the Eye of Thunder descended, tearing apart the protective chambers of the three mechs, seizing their pilots, and confining them within its internal vault.
The inn emitted a repugnant musty odor, with its hallways dotted with dark grime. Outside, a gloomy gray sky loomed, overshadowed by towering chimneys emitting thick black smoke.
Sunlight, rain, fragrances, and laughter were all but extinct here. The commonplace was the sin and gore lurking in the shadows.
This was where Qin Gantang had lived for fifteen years, a place seemingly befitting him.
With a disgusted frown, Song Yuanyang kicked open the door to room 209. He already knew the mischief Qin Gantang had been up to—after all, the lower city lacked buildings that fully shielded sounds and odors.
The alpha on the bed instantly jumped up, gun aimed at Song Yuanyang.
Song Yuanyang waved dismissively, reassuring, "Relax, no one dares cross the Central Military now."
Ren Zehuai paused in confusion, unsure of the situation. He assumed the Chief Diplomat would not let things slide. A beating was inevitable, and a court trial would likely follow.
"What happened to the Central Military?" Ren Zehuai asked, spitting out a bloodied chunk of flesh.
That was a piece from the nape of Qin Gantang's neck, chewed and left lingering in his mouth.
Although conscious, Qin Gantang was immobile, casting resentful, regretful glances at Ren Zehuai, then turning to Song Yuanyang in a plea for help.
"I—I'm calling the police! I was violated! Yuanyang, you have to believe me!" he rasped.
Covered in bruises and welts, he resembled a man mauled by a pack of savage dogs. Unable to even crawl, he barely managed to prop himself up.
Approaching, Song Yuanyang looked down disdainfully at this pitiable sight, demanding, "Why was Yin Bozhou able to break through?"
"What are you talking about?" Qin Gantang looked perplexed. His genuine bewilderment was evident, and an astute diplomat like Song Yuanyang could tell at a glance whether he was lying.
He genuinely was clueless. Thus, he had lost any remaining shred of utility.
"Did you get all of that on video? Once it's done, we leave," Song Yuanyang addressed his subordinates.
One of them was filming Qin Gantang's pitiable state, even zooming in on his bitten gland. With this evidence, should Qin Gantang try to involve Song Yuanyang in the future, Song Yuanyang would be prepared for a legal battle.
Panicking, Qin Gantang clutched at Song Yuanyang's clothing, crying, "Don't leave! Help me! I truly was assaulted! This beast forced himself on me! I'll report him!"
Pointing at Ren Zehuai, his eyes flashed with intense loathing.
With a sadistic smirk, Ren Zehuai used his tongue to poke his cheek, then sharply slapped Qin Gantang across the face.
Blood spurted from Qin Gantang's nose, stars danced before his eyes, and he collapsed onto the bed.
Song Yuanyang put on white gloves, gently pried Qin Gantang's hand off his clothes, then removed the gloves and discarded them in the trash bin.
He found this man repulsive.
"You're going to sue me? I should be suing you! Ever since I started dating Qin Qing, I knew you were a top-tier Omega. To avoid any incidents, I constantly wear a pheromone detector. If the pheromone concentration in the air exceeds the limit, the detector alerts me so I can stay away from you. Despite all my precautions, you've managed to ensnare me. You already have five alphas; why lure me? How shameless can you be?"
Ren Zehuai spoke while activating his holographic device, projecting an illuminated screen that showed the events from the previous night.
"He called me, said he was in trouble in the downtown area, taken to this motel, and asked me to rescue him. The moment I entered the room, the pheromone levels were already off the charts. My detector can serve as proof in court to confirm my innocence. This video is undeniable evidence. I've never encountered such a despicable Omega! I am into Qin Qing, not trash like this."
With eyes reddened in rage, Ren Zehuai pointed his gun at Qin Gantang, seemingly ready to pull the trigger at any moment.
As the video played, the beeping from Ren Zehuai's detector grew more frequent. Desperate to get away from Qin Gantang who lunged at him repeatedly, Ren Zehuai shoved him aside.
Ren Zehuai slapped Qin Gantang harshly, declaring his affection for Qin Qing and expressing his disdain for the worthless trash that was Qin Gantang. But then, Qin Gantang began to undress...
The alarm on the detector grew louder, indicating the increasing potency of Qin Gantang's pheromones. It was clearly intentional.
Frenzied with rage and unable to resist the overwhelming pheromones, Ren Zehuai assaulted Qin Gantang, hurling insults and smashing objects around him.
However, Qin Gantang's shamelessness knew no bounds. The more Ren Zehuai berated him, the more persistent he became, charging at him with wild abandon. Finally, Ren Zehuai tightly gripped his throat, his voice dripping with venom, "You brought this upon yourself!"
He bit fiercely into the nape of Qin Gantang's neck, drawing both scent and blood with a cruel thirst.
Only then did regret dawn upon Qin Gantang. He began to cry for help and struggle, but it was too late.
The video ended. While Ren Zehuai's actions seemed brutal, Song Yuanyang found it hard to sympathize with Qin Gantang.
"Wasn't marrying me a good option? Why stoop so low?" He gazed down at Qin Gantang.
Never anticipating that Ren Zehuai would wear both a pheromone detector and a nano-camera, a pale-faced Qin Gantang could only pull up the covers, hiding beneath. He suddenly realized the depth of the abyss he'd fallen into.
Had he obediently married Song Yuanyang, he could have continued his luxurious lifestyle. His position in the Qin family would have remained unchanged since Song Yuanyang could support Qin Tao in resuming his political career.
For a successful career, Qin Tao would continue to respect him and his mother, just like before.
But now, all of it was ruined by his own impulsiveness.
How did it come to this? He always knew how to maximize his benefits. Why did he recklessly seduce Ren Zehuai? With such concentrated pheromones, he was practically signing his own death warrant!
What was he thinking?
Qin Gantang clutched his head, emitting a cry filled with both extreme pain and profound regret.
"What right do you have to cry? I'm the victim here! Sue me if you wish. I'll release this evidence, exposing your disgrace to the entire galaxy! So much for the 'noblest Omega.' Damn, it's revolting!" Ren Zehuai, having dressed, exclaimed in utter disdain.
Song Yuanyang shook his head, departing the sordid scene with his entourage. Having lost the allure of Qin Gantang's pheromones, he thought he'd feel a sense of loss. Surprisingly, he felt a profound relief.
"Perhaps finding someone I truly care for isn't such a bad idea," Song Yuanyang mused, stepping outside the motel and gazing up at the overcast sky, releasing a poignant sigh.
Holstering his gun and fastening it securely, Ren Zehuai coldly remarked, "You know I care for Qin Qing, right? Are you out of your mind?"
Slipping on his coat, he headed resolutely towards the exit.
Upon hearing Qin Qing's name, memories flooded back to Qin Gantang. All of this mess was due to his vendetta against Qin Qing. Having lost everything, he couldn't afford to be the laughing stock in front of Qin Qing.
"Don't leave! After last night, I believe you've discerned our compatibility rate surpasses 80%. Marrying me would be your fastest route to ascend to SSS rank!"
Ren Zehuai sneered, gripping the door handle.
In a swift interjection, Qin Gantang challenged, "Which matters more to you – the deputy commander of the Central Legion or Qin Qing?"
Ren Zehuai swung the door open, stepping out.
"Yin Bozhou is critically injured. I can facilitate your rapid promotion. You might have a chance to replace him as the commander of the Central Legion. This is a golden opportunity! Do you want to miss it?"
Seemingly indifferent, Ren Zehuai suddenly halted, turning back. His deep, enigmatic eyes shimmered with a myriad of emotions and a peculiar, chilling gleam.
Qin Gantang forced himself to meet that wolfish gaze. Gripping the bedspread, he trembled with tension.
After an agonizingly long pause, Ren Zehuai slowly returned, his icy tone slightly softened, "I'll take you to the hospital."
Releasing his grip on the blanket, Qin Gantang exhaled as if granted a pardon. When Ren Zehuai pulled him into an embrace, he let out a heart-wrenching sob.
He felt deeply humiliated and full of remorse. Throughout the previous night, Ren Zehuai had throttled him relentlessly. He was certain that the man he was soon to marry now harbored profound hatred towards him.
Song Yuanyang, Yan Yufei, and Cain would surely detest him too.
As for Yin Bozhou, it was evident. Yin Bozhou had never held any affection for Qin Gantang from the very beginning!
"Why am I such a failure?" Qin Gantang tearfully asked Ren Zehuai.
Ren Zehuai chuckled with mild amusement and murmured, "Because, minus the pheromones, you're just trash. Do you know how I feel right now?"
Anticipating a painful retort, Qin Gantang hurriedly covered his ears in fear.
Ren Zehuai leaned in, speaking into his covered ears with a cold smirk, "It feels like being handed a piece of junk I never asked for. That's how I feel. I'm frustrated and furious. Once we're married, you better behave, or I won't be merciful!"
Qin Gantang shivered uncontrollably. A sudden realization of dread washed over him; it seemed he'd plunged from one hell into an even deeper abyss.
