    Chapter 17

Fan Zhongchuan's intent in joining Weibo was simple: to follow Ning Yuyi. Whatever his fans had, he wanted, and what they didn’t have, he still wanted. It was that straightforward.

His assistant, however, failed to grasp the simplicity of Fan’s desire. After setting up the account, the assistant verified it with a 'V' badge and even tagged the company’s official Weibo account.

By the time Fan Zhongchuan accessed his Weibo, his notifications were flooded. Messages filled his inbox, with more pouring in continuously.

    Fan Zhongchuan: ???

After a phone call to his assistant, Fan decisively docked half of the month's bonus as punishment.

Ning Yuyi stumbled upon the news of Fan Zhongchuan trending on Weibo while browsing unintentionally, with a simple six-word topic.

    ——#FanZhongchuanJoinsWeibo#

Clicking on it revealed the post from the Fan Corporation’s official account, which merely tagged Fan Zhongchuan and greeted him.

While Fan Zhongchuan rarely sought public attention, his fame was no less than that of Xie Yiezhou and Xie Yinan.

There were countless stories about Fan Zhongchuan everywhere: how he took over the Fan Corporation at 22, acquired a high-end foreign technology at 26, further solidifying China's powerful position on the global stage.

This man seemed to be a legend by birth.

Yet this legend always appeared ethereal, never interacting directly with mere mortals like them. All they knew of Fan Zhongchuan was through news stories mentioning this three-character name.

Fan Zhongchuan—three characters as ordinary as they come, but together they became mythical.

So when this legendary figure suddenly joined Weibo, netizens felt a slight closening of the vast distance between them, as if they could just about touch him if they stretched out. The platform was instantly flooded with activity, swiftly propelling him to the top of the trending list.

Celebrities and corporations like Xie Yinan and Xie's Group promptly followed Fan Zhongchuan on Weibo. But just when everyone expected Fan Zhongchuan to post a greeting or follow some business associates, he followed Ning Yuyi instead.

With Fan Zhongchuan's follower count soaring to millions within a day and only one person he's following, netizens were perplexed, causing an even bigger stir.

Some fans of "Jiandao" who recognized Ning Yuyi from the show's announcements knew him, but for the general public, he was just a minor actor with barely a million fans—though they acknowledged he was quite handsome from the images online.

Trend-chasing accounts sensed an opportunity, but most hesitated to smear anything related to Fan Zhongchuan. A few smaller ones dared to post insinuations, but their limited influence meant no major consequences.

Yu Sihan only found out about this later that evening.

Wang Yinkou tossed her phone onto his lap, saying, "See for yourself."

"Why has Fan Zhongchuan suddenly taken an interest in Ning Yuyi?" Yu Sihan browsed Weibo, his eyes filled with jealousy.

With an inexplicable malice in her voice, Wang Yinkou remarked, "He's smart, clinging to such a towering figure."

"Hmph," Yu Sihan flipped the phone face down on the coffee table, trying to calm himself.

But thinking of Fan Zhongchuan's superior looks and background, contrasted with his own degrading experiences with a disgusting fat man, envy and rage surged within him.

In his past life, after spending a few years in an orphanage, he was smoothly recognized by his father, and after a stint in the entertainment industry, even got affiliated with the Fan Group, elevating his family to the fringes of high society.

Thinking of the events of the subsequent years darkened Yu Sihan's mood.

He never anticipated Ning Yuyi being the lost son of the Xie family, and when the Xies confirmed their son's death, his family's years of effort were squashed.

    And himself...

Yu Sihan took a deep breath.

Since his reincarnation, he assumed things would go smoothly, but everything seemed to go against him. Recognized by his father only to be looked down upon for his "wild" upbringing, no matter how gentle and courteous he behaved, he was always overshadowed by his nominal elder brother.

Thinking of that brother, who treated him kindly in his previous life but was now so cold and dismissive, Yu Sihan's eyes reddened.

Even though his brother was supportive in his past life, he was now openly disdainful, prohibiting any family support in Yu's entertainment pursuits, making him, an heir, cater to that revolting man.

Recalling the degrading ways he was treated, Yu Sihan felt nauseous.

He stared vacantly at the moonlight outside.

Why was this life so different from the last?

Author's Note: In short, the protagonist's luck has run out.

    Hehe.

No one can surpass my darling!!!

Today's post is a bit short. I intended to write more before publishing, but I suddenly felt so tired and couldn't continue. Better post it now.

    Tomorrow's might be longer.

It’s very simple to understand even without the protagonist’s luck thing too. Because, no matter how influential and favoured you are, you are simply not supposed to treat humans like tools you can use and throw away at will. You have to be a decent human. You had luck given by the heavens, but you lost it all by being a selfish, ungrateful and scheming person. You can be jealous of how others are favoured more, but it’s still not acceptable to just try and destroy a person because of it. You also had a choice to go a different way. You can work hard cleanly for your career, you can change your profession but you simply are not supposed to think the bad results that came from your bad decisions is someone else’s fault entirely. You are an adult. You are supposed to take responsibility for your actions.
