Chapter Seven
byChapter Seven
Xiao Fu was still biting the leash and sniffing the man on the ground when he turned to find the other end of the leash discarded.
The dog looked incredulously at the leash on the ground, then at his oblivious owner, whining to signal him to pick up the leash, only to be ignored.
The forlorn dog could only pick up both ends of the leash himself and stand silently by his owner's side.
Lin An looked around blankly, not recognizing the place at all. Now, the only place he was familiar with was his home, with no recollection of anywhere else.
Xiao Fu had been sitting beside his master for a long time, but the master remained motionless. Feeling a bit hungry, Xiao Fu could only walk a few steps forward, then look back at his master.
Going home?
Lin An looked down at the dog's shiny black eyes. In this strange environment, the only familiar thing to him was the difficult-to-eat creature before him.
So, he followed it.
With Xiao Fu leading the way, Lin An, who was prepared to stand there indefinitely, began to make an effort to move food.
Using gloved hands, he propped them under the man's arms and then shuffled backwards.
It looks like a clumsy little turtle, and its movements are very funny
I kept taking a few steps and looking back to see where the dog was.
The unconscious man was tall and muscular, with broad shoulders and long legs. Almost his entire upper body was cradled in Lin An's arms, and it didn't take long for Lin An's clean white coat to be stained with blood and dust.
At first, I didn't notice, but by the time I realized it, my clothes were beyond saving.
He dropped the man with a thud, looking at the stains on his own clothes in a panic, trying to wash away the dust with a thin stream of water. He managed to get rid of the dirt, but the bloodstains on his white coat remained.
Lin An looked at the food with a hint of melancholy and disdain, but still compromised to fill his stomach, refusing to carry the food home in the same way.
After circling the food several times, he finally found the right way to carry it.
Holding the hem of the food's pants with both hands, minimizing contact to keep his clothes from getting dirty.
Following behind Xiao Fu, the hungry little zombie moved very slowly, pausing every three steps and resting every five.
The man being dragged along was lurching from side to side, his head knocking against the ground. Had it not been for the relatively smooth path and the absence of large rocks or sharp objects, his brains would have been knocked out.
Due to his injuries, the man's wound kept bleeding, leaving a trail of blood behind Lin An as he dragged the body with heavy breaths.
It looked like a scene from a murder and body disposal.
The zombies that had been chasing them seemed to have returned to their original place, and they did not encounter any other zombies along the way.
Lin An returned to the quiet neighborhood, paying no mind to the faint scents of food in the air, his only focus being to follow the little dog, Xiao Fu, home, eager to start his meal with the food he had acquired.
The climb upstairs was arduous due to the weight of the food, causing the little zombie's legs to tremble with fatigue.
Xiao Fu, anxious to assist his owner, nudged the man forcefully with his head, which, far from easing Lin An's burden, ended up smeared with blood.
Both the little zombie and the dog were in a sorry state, but the man being carried fared the worst.
With every step they ascended, the man's head would knock against the stairs, the thudding sound painfully resonant, almost unbearable to witness.
Fortunately, the man's skull seemed quite durable, showing no signs of damage despite the rough handling.
They finally made it home.
Lin An dragged the man straight into the bathroom and placed the food into the furthest bathtub, finally allowing himself a sigh of relief.
After discarding his soiled mask, shoe covers, and gloves, he cleaned the dog's paws, changed into fresh clothes, and meticulously wiped away the trail of blood from the entrance to the bathroom.
As he prepared to attend to his meal, Lin An noticed Xiao Fu, with blood matted on his head, curiously observing the man in the bathtub.
Faced with the choice between a dirty meal ready to be eaten and another filthy, decidedly unappetizing creature, Lin An silently weighed his options before opting to bathe Xiao Fu first.
Accustomed to baths, Xiao Fu stood still under the shower, letting the water wash over him until he was dried off, transforming back into a clean, large dog.
The clean dog peeped out from the bathroom doorway, bowl in mouth, blinking at his owner in an attempt to look adorable.
Lin An paused for a moment before going to refill his dog food.
With Xiao Fu occupied with his meal, Lin An could finally turn his attention to preparing his own food with ease.
Perhaps buoyed by the anticipation of dining, the cheerful little zombie vigorously washed the dust off the man's body, the mix of gray and red water slowly revealing his true appearance as it drained away.
The man had a chiseled face with a prominent nose and a pallor from excessive blood loss. Even unconscious and drenched in cold water, his eyebrows were furrowed in distress.
The black camouflage uniform, clinging to his wet body, accentuated his muscular physique.
The scent of fresh blood tempted Lin An, who swallowed hard to suppress the urge to bite into the meal right away.
He resolved to eat only after the food was thoroughly washed.
Clothes, even in black that doesn't show dirt easily, can never be completely clean with the smell of blood lingering; Lin An could still sense it.
Stopping the water, he turned to undress the food of its filthy garments.
One by one.
Suddenly, a small black satin box fell from a pocket, which Lin An picked up. Unsure of its purpose, he casually pocketed it himself.
Once undressed, Lin An noticed numerous bleeding wounds on the food.
Blood that has stopped flowing is no longer fresh, prompting the little zombie to hurriedly search for something to stem the bleeding.
Familiar with the orderly household from daily cleaning, he easily retrieved a first aid kit from the coffee table cabinet, took out white gauze, and wrapped all of the food's wounds.
His only thought was to cover the bleeding areas to prevent the loss of any drinkable blood. Yet, his dressing technique was skilled, almost professional.
Compelled by his neat-freak tendencies, Lin An washed both his and the food's clothes in the machine, only removing them to dry on the balcony once all traces of blood were gone.
Indeed, he was a diligent and capable zombie.
Finally, it was time to eat. Lin An dragged the cleaned and tended food to the dining table, ceremoniously covering its lower half with a white towel.
With the table set, Lin An fetched chopsticks and a knife from the kitchen, eagerly anticipating the feast.
The water stains on the man were extracted by Lin An's supernatural ability, leaving him lying flat on the table, his pale, muscular form lean and well-defined, with striking and handsome features that would turn heads anywhere — yet, to the little zombie, he was merely a delectable meal.
Time to dine!
After pondering with a tilted head, he decided to start at the neck, planning to bite and drink some blood before carving the meat with the knife and picking at it with chopsticks.
A perfect dining ritual.
Lin An stood and approached the man's neck, inhaling carefully. The cleaned man had no off-putting odors; Lin An could smell the hot blood pulsing through his arteries, and the flesh seemed delicious — mealtime at last!
Mouth agape, revealing sharp white fangs, he was ready to bite down hard, only to notice the Adam's apple seemed to move.
Baffled, he looked up, and the little zombie preparing to feast met a pair of cold, fierce black eyes.
Lin An: !!!
The little zombie buried in the man's neck was scared stiff, all thoughts of eating and drinking evaporating under the glare of those cold, hostile black eyes.
Instinctively, he turned and fled to the safety and familiarity of his wardrobe.
Hiding within the closet, the trembling little zombie clutched himself tightly.
This food is terrifying!
