Chapter 124: The End of the King of Thorn Ridge
by AdminThe Savage Earth Hound, the king of Thorns Ridge, a powerful low-level magic beast. It was very likely related to Duson—Duson's mother was already dead, but its father was most likely the one before them. Despite being relatives, it didn't stop Duson from launching an attack under Liszt's orders. Magic power spewed from its mouth, crossing the spatial barrier and accurately converging at the target location, forming an earth attribute spell—the Rock Spike. Whoosh! The rock spike burst out from beneath the ground under the Savage Earth Hound, almost piercing it through. The Savage Earth Hound quickly dodged, avoiding the rock spike with agile movements. It then deftly evaded the four arrows shot at it. Adjusting its posture, it charged towards the squire knight once again. The squire knight, having caught his breath, was already prepared for defense, holding his round shield in front of him. But suddenly, he heard Lord's thunderous shout: "Zakley, roll!" His body involuntarily followed the command, falling to one side and rolling twice on the muddy ground. In their knight training, Marcus had repeatedly instilled the idea of "Lord above all" into their minds. They were to absolutely obey the Lord's orders. So Zakley didn't need to think; his body reacted reflexively, following Liszt's command. This time, obedience saved his life. Right where he had been standing, a thick rock spike pierced out of the ground. If Zakley hadn't dodged, this rock spike would have impaled him, possibly through a vital area. Cold sweat poured down his face. Zakley swallowed hard, feeling even more grateful to his Lord who had warned him. However, there wasn't much time for gratitude as the Savage Earth Hound, having missed its attack, lunged at him again, seemingly fixated on biting him to death. "My lord, you shoot, I'll charge!" Marcus shouted when he saw that the arrows couldn't hit the Savage Earth Hound. Liszt had no objections to such an order—at this moment, he fully transformed into a qualified archer, standing in the backline to deal damage. Besides, he still had to command Duson to release spells and remind the squire knights to dodge the rock spikes. The task was heavy. The battle scene was chaotic yet orderly. The Savage Earth Hound was indeed fierce, and the rock spikes unpredictable, but under Liszt's Magic Eye observation, every move it made was exposed. Apart from scratching a squire knight who failed to dodge, the other rock spikes didn't achieve any results. After about ten minutes of maneuvering. The Savage Earth Hound's magic power had fallen to a low point. Based on Duson's experience of releasing spells daily, Liszt knew that this Savage Earth Hound would find it difficult to release another rock spike in the short term. He suddenly drew the Red Blood Sword: "Charge, take it down!" His steed, the Li Dragon Horse, raised its head high, galloping towards the trapped Savage Earth Hound with nowhere to run. Duson also joined the charge—it didn't understand the concept of killing its own kind; Liszt's orders were its guiding principles. Two Earth Knights. Ten apprentice knights, plus two helpers. Fourteen people besieging a magic beast whose power was depleted, the outcome was already determined. All the knights had practiced their combined attack routines, firmly holding their positions. In the end, Marcus took the brunt of the attack head-on while Liszt found an opportunity to strike. "Heart of the Fire Dragon Drill!" The Red Blood Sword, combined with the ultimate secret technique of *Fire Dragon Drill*, had an unparalleled momentum, completely enveloping the cornered Savage Earth Hound. Flames burned across the sky, that was Liszt's explosive fighting spirit. Aaahh! The Savage Earth Hound let out continuous cries of pain. The king of Thorns Ridge could only end up in defeat under human hunting. "It didn't take much effort to fall." Liszt calmly sheathed the Red Blood Sword, waiting for the flames to extinguish to take a look at the magic beast he had personally killed, to see what kind of miserable fate it met. But just as everyone was somewhat relaxed. The flames were about to dissipate when a charred shadow suddenly burst out, rushing out of the lax encirclement. It was the Savage Earth Hound that should have been killed by Liszt's ultimate move. It was already covered in wounds, even emitting a faint smell of roasted meat, yet it still had the ability to run. "Pursue!" Liszt couldn't bear to let the prey slip away. The Knight Squad, without bothering to clean up the barbecue stand, pursued together. Duson led the way, closely chasing the scorched Savage Earth Hound. "My lord, be careful, we might encounter other magic beasts," Marcus said gloomily. "I didn't expect a Savage Earth Hound to be so difficult to deal with, faking its death to escape. It was also my carelessness; we can't relax at all before confirming the death of a magic beast. They're very cunning!" "Magic beasts are indeed cunning, but it won't survive, its body is almost burnt!" Liszt's spirit remained high, not affected much. On the battlefield, he was indeed afraid of death, habitually hiding in the back. But once he set his mind on something, he would do everything in his power to complete it. Saying he would hunt down the Savage Earth Hound meant he wouldn't give it any chance to breathe. With the Magic Eye, he could now perceive the timing of a magic beast's spell release. This was equivalent to the fact that the magic beast he faced no longer had any lethal spells. A magic beast without magic was no different from a wild beast! Thorns Ridge was anywhere he, Liszt, could go! Moments later. The fleeing Savage Earth Hound finally stopped running. It paused in front of a plant, panting heavily, with its burnt wounds bleeding everywhere. Turning its head to glance at the approaching Duson and the large group of knights behind, it seemed to make a decision, its gaze moving to a golden fist-sized fruit hanging on the plant's branch. Leaping forward, it was about to eat the golden fruit. But a sharp sound of breaking air came from behind. In the next moment, the Savage Earth Hound only felt a force pulling its body, forcing it to jump half a meter further than intended. Its mouth grazed the golden fruit, missing it, and after landing, pain swept over its entire body. It could no longer hold on. It died. Not far behind, Liszt put down his bow and arrow, sighing in relief.
"Well, beast, you sure can run... Luckily, I made it in time."
The Eye of Magic had already spotted the fruit condensed from magic power, the Bloodline Fruit, which was clearly not yet ripe. If it were to be eaten by the Savage Earth Hound at this moment, it would indeed be a waste.
Beside the dead Savage Earth Hound, Dou Sen squatted down, his canine eyes fixated on the golden fruit, drool flowing like a waterfall.
It too felt the allure of the Bloodline Fruit.
"Dou Sen, stop drooling!" Liszt scolded, calling back Dou Sen who was reaching for the Bloodline Fruit.
"Woof woof!" Dou Sen immediately wagged its tail at Liszt and kept looking at the golden fruit, clearly trying to please Liszt in hopes of getting a taste of the Bloodline Fruit.
"Calm down, it's not ripe yet." Liszt dismounted from his horse, scanning the surroundings to ensure there were no other magical beasts before shifting his gaze to the Bloodline Fruit.
An unnamed plant, likely some kind of fern.
It bore a single golden Bloodline Fruit, which seemed rather out of place.
The fruit was very beautiful, round and plump. Apart from its brilliant golden hue, it also had a hint of crystalline texture beneath the skin. It didn't emit any fragrance or any indication of magic power radiating outward, but within the vision of the Eye of Magic, it contained a dense amount of magic power.
Almost in a solidified state.
"This is... the Bloodline Fruit?" Marcus, who had already dealt with the Savage Earth Hound's corpse and surveyed the terrain around, came to Liszt's side and immediately exclaimed in a low voice.
