Chapter 126: The Power of the Elite Earth Knights
by AdminThe screams were heart-stopping.
However, the two squire knights could still struggle to get up after landing, clearly unharmed. Their good response had defused the powerful magic—against the possible demonic beasts they might encounter in Thorns Ridge, they had all practiced resistance techniques.
The Thunderfang Boar was one of them!
Retreating was to wait for the Thunderflash's exhaustion; lightning magic was the most exhausting magic, the further the distance, the weaker the power. Moreover, when the Thunderfang Boar released the Thunderflash, there would be a relatively long preparation time.
Approaching was to disperse the Thunderflash's attack on a single target.
Raising the shield was to expand the area affected by the lightning and protect the body.
Stabbing the sword into the ground was to directly channel the power of the lightning magic underground.
Releasing Aura was to use Aura to dissipate the remaining power of the lightning magic.
Although two squire knights were sent flying, it was already a successful strategy that allowed a group of apprentice knights to successfully defuse a powerful magic strike.
"Everyone, listen to my command, move around and strike! Hold the Thunderfang Boar, wait for my combined attack!" Marcus finally spared a moment of attention from the Earthdog's rock spike attack and hurriedly ordered the squire knights.
He was the battlefield commander, needing to coordinate the entire situation.
"My lord, there's another demonic beast!"
"This one is mine!" Liszt's voice was cold, he had the Eye of Magic Power, far safer than the others, "It's just a snake-type demonic beast!"
The Red Blood Sword was imbued with fire attribute Aura, flames slowly ignited.
He had already rushed towards the snake-type demonic beast in the northwest direction—Thorns Ridge had no record of snake-type demonic beasts, but regardless of whether there was a record or not, this snake, Liszt had to face.
Dousen was no longer reliable.
After eating the Bloodline Fruit, it lay listlessly on the ground, seemingly in a deep sleep.
"Fire Dragon Spike!"
With the Eye of Magic Power locking onto his opponent, Liszt launched an attack without hesitation, the Red Blood Sword turned into a blood-colored arrow, piercing straight at the snake-type demonic beast's vital point.
This spot, the vital point, was clearly where the magic powers intersected, seen clearly by his Eye of Magic Power.
Strike the snake at its vital point, this was the weakest place for snakes, a solid hit would surely kill it.
The snake-type demonic beast obviously sensed the mortal threat to itself, its short and thick body like a bowl's rim writhed, dodging the attack while simultaneously spitting out magic power.
Liszt leaped into the air, dodging the magic attack.
Where he jumped up, a black vortex formed, quickly corroding the withered grass and fallen leaves on the ground into slag.
"Black Magic Vortex! So it's a Shadow Snake!" He quickly identified the species of the snake-type demonic beast he was hunting—a Shadow Snake.
Shadow Snakes were dark attribute demonic beasts.
They mostly lived in swamps and damp, dark forests, releasing the magic "Black Magic Vortex." The dark attribute magic power carried a corrosive effect by nature; once hit by the Black Magic Vortex, it could instantly corrode a person's body clean. This was a very vicious demonic beast, but its body was relatively fragile.
If it were Marcus, he might have been sneakily crippled by the Shadow Snake, then left for it to devour.
But it met Liszt, dodging the magic was effortless, and the remaining time was just about how to torture and kill it.
"Heart of the Fire Dragon Drill!"
He started with a big move, a sky full of fire rain rushed towards the Shadow Snake, forcing it to coil up, unable to even release magic. A lion fighting a rabbit used all its strength; Liszt never knew what it meant to hold back, his style was either ranged output or frontal brainless bombardment.
Pfft!
Flames ignited the Shadow Snake's outer skin.
The pain of burning caused the Shadow Snake to roll over and over, trying to extinguish the flames. Perhaps the temperature of the flames interfered with the Shadow Snake's judgment, it actually released magic randomly; in a small area, it released three Black Magic Vortices in succession, but all were far away from Liszt.
Facing such a foolish Shadow Snake, Liszt smiled in relief,
He raised the Red Blood Sword high, aimed at the snake's vital point, and swung down with a bang. Crack!
One sword cut it in two, the Shadow Snake became two pieces. The lower half twisted wildly, the upper half couldn't twist, only the snake's mouth opened and closed.
Magic couldn't be released.
Left to it was only death.
"Whew..." Liszt exhaled a breath of turbid air, momentarily dazed. Once upon a time, he was still a waste, now he could easily kill a demonic beast.
The Shadow Snake was certainly not very strong, but it was still a low-level demonic beast, comparable to an Earth Knight in strength.
Yet in front of him, it only had the portion of being beaten, not lasting more than ten moves before being cut in half: "So I've become this strong, comparable to an elite Earth Knight."
Although the Eye of Magic Power revealed the truth, and the Red Blood Sword added power, it was enough to prove that Liszt had grown stronger.
The feeling was only for a moment, the next moment, without caring that the broken Shadow Snake was still writhing, he picked up the Red Blood Sword, mounted his horse, and rushed towards the Thunderfang Boar—some demonic beasts required foot combat, some were suitable for mounted combat. The Thunderfang Boar was huge and tough-skinned, requiring the strength of a warhorse to hunt.
"Charge!"
Man and horse as one, Aura burst forth, the Red Blood Sword sliced through the air, emitting a sharp tremor.
When he charged into the battle circle, the Thunderfang Boar was just preparing to release magic, but it was knocked flying by Liszt's "Wildfire Slash," blood splattered on the spot, and the magic was held back.
However, the Thunderfang Boar's thick skin was unharmed, it got up and grunted, ready to charge at Liszt again.
But after only two steps, its body was knocked flying again; it was Marcus, who had dealt with the Earthdog, who initiated a charge with man and horse as one. His left leg was injured, blood flowing profusely, apparently grazed by the Earthdog's rock spike. But this did not affect his riding the warhorse in a charge.
"My lord, combined attack!"
"Left for me, right for you. One charge each, follow my command, and don't let it cast any magic!"
"Alright!"
With this brief exchange, Liszt launched another charge, once again knocking the Thunderfang Boar to the ground. Before it could rise, Marcus charged, slamming into the unsteady boar and sending it crashing down anew.
The two elite Earth Knights took turns, one after the other.
Their coordination grew more refined, leaving the Thunderfang Boar with no chance to stand or unleash its Thunder Flash. It bellowed in frustration as wounds multiplied across its body, quickly turning red from its own blood, then blackened by the mud of the battlefield.
The exhausted retainer knights, who had been tormented by the boar, now rallied, lighting torches to encircle the battlefield and prevent the beast's escape.
Witnessing the two Earth Knights toy with the Thunderfang Boar filled them with fervor, yearning to take the field themselves to similarly torment the monster.
They charged back and forth over a dozen times.
Marcus's warhorse was so weary it could barely lift its hooves, and the Li Lung horse panted heavily. Only then did the Thunderfang Boar finally cease its groaning, lying on the ground, taking more breaths than it gave.
"We've finally killed it."
Liszt caught his breath, the Thunderfang Boar posed little threat to Earth Knights. Its sluggish movements and slow magic casting made it easy to evade, but its hide was too thick, requiring a war of attrition to wear it down.
Marcus, pale-faced, with blood flowing profusely from his left leg, somewhat depleted of vitality, still barked out orders immediately: "Everyone, don't just stand there, clean up the battlefield quickly! We need to leave this place!"
After saying this, he dismounted to tend to his wound.
But suddenly, Liszt spoke urgently: "Teacher Marcus, we're in trouble. One, two, three, four... seven monsters are closing in on us."
