    Chapter 50: Little Deer Arrives

I sprang up and hurried to the front of the bus, yanking open the driver's cabin door.

As expected, there was nobody inside; only a solitary dashboard glowed in the darkness.

However, the bus was indeed moving. Despite the persistent blackness outside, I could distinctly feel that the vehicle was accelerating rapidly.

No way, can this dilapidated road accommodate such high speeds?

I paced nervously within the cabin.

Initially, I harbored a foolish hope that the bus might somehow carry me straight out of here. But that illusion quickly vanished.

That's when I noticed lights illuminating outside the bus, two rows of small lamps on the surrounding walls, as if we had entered a tunnel.

But hell, what tunnel? This one seemed absurdly long, its end completely invisible to me.

Moreover, this mere bus was now hurtling along at a speed comparable to a train!

My mind was a jumbled mess, thrashing about like a dying salted fish on a hot skillet. Suddenly, I heard the distant wail of a whistle.

    A whistle?

How could there be a whistle? Wasn't I riding a bus?

Confused for a moment, I soon realized that the sound didn't originate from my vicinity but rather from the other end of the tunnel.

This realization struck me like thunder, chilling me to the bone.

In front of the bus, two large amber lights began to illuminate.

I recognized those lights – they belonged to an old green-painted train, and those lights were hurtling towards me at breakneck speed!

Question: What are the chances of survival in a head-on collision inside a tunnel?

Answer: About the same as China's national football team making it to the World Cup.

The answer was glaringly obvious. Without hesitation, I grabbed my phone and with great force, slammed it onto the ground.

Though it might not be as useful as a brick here, that doesn't equate to it being broken.

When I kick the bucket, the police will undoubtedly go through my phone, but they won't appreciate what they find in my browsing history.

Since it won't turn on, there's no choice but to damage it!

Defying destruction, I remain unyielding, Determined to preserve my integrity on earth!

Having done all that, I closed my eyes in despair, awaiting death, only to find the anticipated agony did not come.

A refreshing breeze, tinged with the subtle scent of mint, greeted me, followed by a teasing voice that pierced my ears.

"Ah—Look who I've saved here? None other than a wild Little Bai Ci!"

I opened my eyes, struck speechless by the scene before me.

Before me stood a tall figure, extending one hand. An invisible barrier unfolded effortlessly, intercepting the speeding locomotive head-on.

Golden radiance illuminated his palm, as transparent fragments scattered amidst blinding light. He turned his face slightly, offering me a slight, enigmatic smile.

"Lu... Ming?" My lips trembled slightly.

The golden glow faded swiftly, and the darkness ahead of the bus remained intact. There was no sign of the colliding train at all – it was as if nothing had happened just now.

Except for the figure standing right in front of me... who had seemingly materialized out of thin air – Luming.

Only now did I get a clear look at him. He was dressed in trendy attire, though I couldn't identify the brands, but it was obvious that they were expensive.

With his striking appearance, he seemed like a spoiled rich second-generation heir, yet there was also an air about him that reminded one of the protagonist in a campus novel.

"You... How did you get here?" I took a cautious step back.

My knowledge of him was limited, stopping at the point when he asked me to bear his child at the barbecue stall.

He didn't respond to my question. Instead, he leisurely walked up to me, suddenly furrowing his brow. He then leaned in and sniffed vigorously around my neck.

"Hiss... Little Bai Ci, why is the scent of your maidenhood gone? Now there's a hint of that fox's allure on you. You couldn't have..."

    Me: !!!

What are you talking about? Saying such things in public is quite embarrassing.

Fortunately, Li Fan isn't here. If he were, with his thin skin, he'd be mortified.

Luming ruffled his hair and raised an eyebrow at me, "Little Bai Ci, it's just for fun, but don't ever have a child with him. If you do, it has to be for me..."

"Stop, stop, stop!" I interrupted him with my hand.

As expected, he hasn't changed - every third sentence revolves around having children.

"Alright, alright, I won't say anything more. I was just joking with you." Luming found a seat and sat down. "Actually, after I returned last time, I specifically discussed this with my siblings, and we realized that I was too hasty."

"They said I was too eager and should first work on improving your affection towards me. Once the affection is high enough, then we can talk about having children," Luming said, crossing his legs and snapping his fingers at me, his tone lively.

"So, what do you think? Was I cool when I made my heroic entrance just now, saving the damsel in distress?"

Looking at Luming, I could see the words "Watch this, little one, I'll charm you" written all over his face.

Fine, I admit he did look impressive just now, but isn't that beside the point?

By his account, did I end up in this bizarre place and encounter all these inexplicable events just to highlight his heroic rescue, so much that I was nearly scared into wetting my pants?

If that's true, then it's truly unbearable!

I took a deep breath, suppressing my anger, and asked him, "So everything that happened to me just now was part of your plan?"

"Luming didn't plan any of this," he said, raising his hands innocently as if to fend off my anger. "It was an accident. I just happened to pass by and rescued you. Your arrival in this godforsaken place has nothing to do with me."

"Then what on earth is this place?"

"Hmm..." Luming propped his chin in one hand, looking thoughtful for a moment, as if it was a difficult question. But eventually, he divulged the answer. "Bai Ci, this is the Void Mirror."

    Me: ???

Hearing a new term, I quickly picked up my still-functioning phone and found a seat to sit down, ready to listen to his explanation.

"You can think of it as a parallel world. There are many Void Mirrors in this world, each containing all sorts of monstrous creatures with varying strengths."

"But don't worry, it's not easy to enter such a place," Luming scratched his head. "For instance, with this current Void Realm, you were able to enter because you timed it precisely; if you had been a minute late, you wouldn't have made it."

"Speaking of which, Bai Ci, you're quite unlucky too. This entrance to the Void Realm hasn't opened in decades, yet you just happened to stumble upon it..."

As Luming continued his monologue, I was suddenly reminded of Li Fan's words.

He had emphasized repeatedly that I must be at that desolate spot at exactly three o'clock to wait for the vehicle.

I had to be punctual, it had to be that specific location...

A sudden jolt ran through my heart.

Could it be that Li Fan had intentionally led me into this illusory realm?
