    Chapter 50 Trouble

Shenchi got out of the car and went to a small supermarket next to the gas station. The supermarket was in chaos, revealing the pandemonium that had occurred there.

Shenchi searched around but found nothing useful, not even tissues or newspapers.

Fortunately, Shenchi hadn't expected much from it, so he entered his space under the cover of the shelves. The supplies he had previously purchased were neatly categorized and stacked, allowing him to retrieve items by willpower alone.

Unfortunately, his memory wasn't strong enough to recall exactly where each type of medicine was stored within the pile, so he had to come in and search.

Shenchi put the medicine into a shopping bag, grabbed some bread, mineral water, and daily necessities, and carried them back to the car.

As soon as he got in the car, Cao Kun's murmuring stopped. Shenchi stared at him for a few seconds, confirming that he hadn't woken up, before proceeding to treat his wounds.

Cao Kun's abrasions hadn't healed yet, and due to lack of proper rest, his immune system had weakened, causing the minor injuries to become infected.

Shenchi took off Cao Kun's clothes, injected an anesthetic into his arm, and while waiting for it to take effect, cleaned and applied antiseptic to several wounds.

Then he took a scalpel Xia Yi had prepared for him from the space, disinfected it with alcohol, and made a cut over the wound to drain the pus.

He wondered if there were any broken bones inside. At this moment, Xia Yi's abilities would have been useful.

"Damn!" He shouldn't have left him alone like that.

Shenchi made another cut, draining the pus until it was mostly gone, then washed the wound with hydrogen peroxide, stitched it up, applied medicine, and rewrapped it with a splint.

For the ribs, he made a test cut and found no signs of pus.

Next, Shenchi took out glucose and antibiotics and gave Cao Kun an intravenous injection.

Then he gave him anti-inflammatory pills and a small dose of sleeping pills, worried that Cao Kun might wake up during the infusion.

Shenchi had no better options; he could only hope that Cao Kun's powerful immune system as a superhuman would kick in.

After finishing with Cao Kun, Shenchi restarted the tractor and headed towards Wanzhong City.

The highway was empty, and the sound of the tractor was particularly loud. As Shenchi was about to exit the highway, a zombie suddenly charged out and slammed into the plow blade, impaling itself.

Another incredibly fast zombie leaped from the side. Shenchi swerved sharply, and the zombie's sharp claws pierced through the window before being flung away by the vehicle's momentum!

Four... Seven... Sixteen... In a blink, a dozen zombies surrounded them, and the level-one zombie got back up and charged again—

Shenchi shifted gears and pressed down on the accelerator. "Whoosh!" The tractor made a sharp turn, and the plow blade sliced the speeding level-one zombie in half!

He shifted gears again just as the horde of zombies pounced, and the tractor flew forward! The zombies crashed onto the cargo bed, breaking a section of the welded steel fence.

The encounters with zombies continued, and because the first zombie's body remained stuck on the plow blade, its effectiveness decreased significantly.

Its presence also narrowed the gap between the blades, causing zombies to get stuck more easily.

Zombies don't feel pain, so even with a knife slicing their sides, they showed no reaction. This quickly rendered the plow blade useless and became a hindrance.

Shenchi couldn't get out of the car either, as he noticed at least two groups of people lurking nearby, waiting to take advantage of the situation.

On the rooftop of Su Jing Building, a slender woman with a beautiful face watched the tractor below, her expression changing. Suddenly, she exclaimed, and the surrounding heat wave paused, and the temperature dropped dramatically from forty-four degrees.

When she widened her eyes, all twenty zombies had turned into ice sculptures!

The tractor continued to rumble forward, and a snap echoed in the silent space. The woman watched as the frozen zombies exploded into ice shards.

She exclaimed, "My God, it's an ice-elemental superhuman!"

"Damn, he's warning us," said the man beside her, wearing an oversized white sun-protective coat. "We can't kill this sheep yet. Send someone to keep an eye on it."

He leaped off the 150-meter-high building, causing the woman to scream. She cursed, "Crazy," and followed him down.

The man caught the free-falling woman mid-air and kissed her without hesitation, making her heart race and her eyes roll.

Inside the tractor, Shenchi was drenched in sweat, veins bulging at his temples, looking terrible. But fortunately, the two tails following them had disappeared.

Ahead was a commercial building. Shenchi drove the tractor straight in, parked it securely, and locked it. Then he carried Cao Kun out of the cargo bed and headed upstairs.

There was a bathhouse facing the road. Shenchi chose a corner room, placed Cao Kun on the bed, locked the door, covered the glass window with a towel, and finally exhaled, sitting on the sofa to rest.

Soon, noises came from downstairs. Shenchi opened the door and saw seven or eight people approaching his car. He threw an ice arrow, startling a group of vagrants who immediately knelt and begged for mercy.

Shenchi looked down at them, "You can take the food from the cargo bed, but if you touch my car..."

    The vagrants shouted, "No, no!"

They carried away the food, and soon fighting sounds echoed.

Shenchi ignored them, locked the door, and turned to find a small bag in his arms.

He opened the bag, took a bottle of water, and drank a few gulps before eating.

After feeding himself, he fed Cao Kun a little and then lay down to rest.

About two hours later, light rain started outside. Shenchi sat up abruptly, rolled to the window, and checked the situation.

In a short while, the rain had intensified, and cheers filled the air. People from the mall ran out to bathe in the rain, drink rainwater, and collect it, all excited.

    Then the zombies came.

At first, just a few, which were quickly dispatched by the people.

    Then dozens, then hundreds.

Even as the number of zombies surpassed a hundred, people still ran through the streets, holding water basins high.

Shenchi cursed under his breath, turned around, and carried Cao Kun down the stairs. Finding his tractor, he threw Cao Kun into the truck bed and kicked away those who tried to steal his vehicle.

As soon as Shenchi started the engine, he felt someone jump onto his vehicle. Ahead, hundreds of zombies were closing in. Shenchi shifted gears, slammed on the accelerator, and plowed through them!

The tractor's chassis was low, making it difficult to move after hitting several zombies. Moreover, the screams from the people behind attracted more zombies towards Shenchi.

Seeing those being clawed by zombies, Shenchi switched to reverse gear, floored the accelerator, and turned the steering wheel hard to the right. The tires screeched against the ground as the tractor spun 360 degrees, throwing everyone and the zombies off.

At that moment, gunshots rang out, and the zombies fell one by one. A group of masked individuals rushed over and began counterattacking the remaining zombies.

Clearly trained, they first broke the zombies' limbs with sticks before smashing their heads, improving efficiency and reducing risk.

Soon, the zombies were mostly dealt with.

The last level-one zombie was taken down by someone who could stretch their arm several meters, snapping its neck and piercing its forehead.

The heavy rain came and went quickly. After the downpour, the heat remained unchanged, and the sun continued to blaze overhead. Corpses lay scattered in pools of blood, rats emerged to feed, and the city began to reek of sewage.

Facing Shenchi were about twelve people with six bicycles. Four got off to dig for crystal cores and finish off the zombies, while the other eight stood before Shenchi. The leader removed his mask, revealing a scruffy face, and extended his hand, "Hello, we're from the Qinghong Gang. I'm Liao Bang, the third-in-command."

Shenchi hesitated for only a second before shaking hands, "Shenchi, ice ability."

Liao Bang chuckled, "I know, the one who can freeze dozens of zombies in an instant and shatter them with a snap! Haha, but why didn't you use your ability just now? Wouldn't that have solved everything?"

Shenchi replied, "I don't like using my ability much; it's hard to control."

"Modesty, modesty!" Liao Bang laughed, "Zombies can appear at any time here. Why don't you come with us to change clothes and rest? Our place is clean! You might not know, but Wanzhong City is currently plagued by the plague. If you get infected, it's pretty much a death sentence!"

Shenchi had no reason to refuse. He followed the bicycle convoy in his tractor for about twenty minutes until they reached a concrete company.

The company was surrounded by a two-meter-high wall and a three-meter-wide iron gate.

Upon seeing their own bicycle team return, the guards opened the gate. Once the convoy entered, the gate was immediately closed and locked.

Shenchi got out of the tractor, and Liao Bang proudly pointed to the vast concrete company, "Look, our Qinghong Gang isn't bad, right? We occupied this place early in the apocalypse. When the plague started, our doctor foresightfully isolated it. Can you believe it? Self-isolation! Now, hundreds of us are safe and sound! As for skills, our doctor is top-notch!"

Liao Bang gave a thumbs-up, laughing heartily, "Come on, Mr. Shen, let's go through our disinfection room. Your vehicle needs disinfection too, just to be safe."

Shenchi said, "Wait, I have another person."

Before Liao Bang could ask, someone lifted the curtain in the truck bed and exclaimed, "There's someone in the truck! Brother Liao, he's running a fever!"

Those near the tractor immediately backed away, some even raised their guns.

Liao Bang frowned, "Mr. Shen, he is..."

Shenchi explained, "He's my friend, with a deep infection due to a broken bone, so he's unconscious."

"Mr. Shen, as I mentioned, Wanzhong City is currently plagued by the plague. Everyone is terrified, and all the medicine has been looted. To be blunt, without medicine in this weather, your friend is as good as dead. I suggest you give up on him and not burden yourself. I'm sure he wouldn't blame you from beyond the grave." Liao Bang wanted Shenchi's help as an ice ability user, not an additional burden.
