Chapter 171: The Release of the Psychic Seal

Chapter 171: The Release of the Psychic Seal

When the registration and preliminary rounds of the Psychic Competition were completed, Guixu Academy officially announced the start of its enrollment.

Guixu Academy was constructed on a grand scale, both spacious and expansive, with flame trees planted throughout, their blossoms ablaze with color.

Initially, Guixu Academy focused on a select few disciplines, including the Department of Psychic Application Development, the Department of Mutant Creatures and Environmental Science, the Department of Social Sciences, Literature, and Arts, and the Department of Information and Communication Technology.

However, when the enrollment examination brochure was released, the Departments of Psychic Application Development and Mutant Creatures drew widespread interest.

Alongside traditional science and engineering courses such as physics, engineering, and mechanical manufacturing, the curriculum also included new courses based on mutant plant and animal materials, such as psychic control technology, psychic equipment design, and mutant material research.

Furthermore, there were innovative courses such as Mutant Biology, Mutant Creature Protection Technology, Psychic Gene Research, and the Domestication and Cultivation of Mutant Plants and Animals.

The faculty consisted of pre-apocalypse experts and scholars of great renown, but few were qualified to enroll and conduct research, with a high threshold. However, there were many applicants for the Department of Psychic Application Development.

Just as the enrollment examinations were proceeding as scheduled, Qingniao Pharmaceuticals unexpectedly held a press conference to announce the release of a Crystal Core Psychic Seal.

The Crystal Core Psychic Seal could imprint a psychic mark on the crystal core within a psychic, a concept seemingly confined to games and novels, attracting significant attention from major bases and news media.

The press conference provided a detailed introduction to the usage and principles of the Crystal Core Psychic Seal: through the use of one's own psychic abilities to resonate at a specific frequency and infuse the seal with psychic energy, the psychic's crystal core would be tightly bound to their own mental power, forming a quantum force array via resonance and solidification. Through continuous practice of psychic abilities, this force array would be strengthened, allowing only psychic energy of the same frequency to activate and utilize the crystal core's power.

Once the imprint was completed, the connection between the crystal core and mental power would become indestructible. Others would be unable to steal the crystal core from the psychic, and even if forcibly taken, it could not be used, absorbed, or transplanted. This resonant connection not only effectively thwarted the theft of psychic crystal cores but also enhanced the psychic's control and utilization of their own psychic power.

The first batch of these seals could be exchanged for contribution points in Guixu City, with priority given to resident psychics, and they would also be awarded as prizes to the winners of the current Psychic Competition.

During the press conference, a reporter asked how the efficacy of the crystal core was confirmed and verified, and whether there were any side effects. He sharply questioned, "Was the entire R&D process ethically and legally compliant?"

Qin Mu, in charge of the presentation and explanation, replied, "Of course, throughout the experimental process, we strictly adhered to relevant ethical and legal principles. We ensured that the design and implementation of the research experiments adhered to ethical standards, maximized the safety of the experiments, and effectively verified the efficacy of the Crystal Core Psychic Binding Seal."

The reporter pressed further, "Then how did you verify that once the psychic imprint is applied, the crystal core cannot be used if removed? Did you have to extract a crystal core from a living person?"

Qin Mu responded, "No, of course not. We used careful and meticulous methods to verify the effects, employing simulations or alternative approaches to test the efficacy of the Crystal Core Psychic Binding Seal. We conducted experiments on zombies to confirm that the crystal core could not be used once removed. We also tested for side effects on animals, and so far, not only are there no side effects, but it also enhances the psychic's control over the crystal core energy."

"We have detailed experimental data, ensuring that all data and observations during the experimental process are meticulously recorded, including experimental conditions, procedures, and changes in the subjects' physical conditions. This data is vital to subsequent analysis and evaluation, and we will later publish related experimental data papers in the Guixu Journal." The reporter persisted, asking, "What are quasi-psychic subjects?" Qin Mu smiled slightly and replied, "Zombies. We conducted tests on zombies with different energy types."

The room went quiet, and the reporters who had hoped to sensationalize the story were left speechless.

Zombies are humans turned into psychic undead, and their crystal cores are the same as those of humans.

One reporter boldly asked, "Then how did you command the zombies to use their psychic abilities at a specific frequency? Zombies don't have souls, do they?"

Qin Mu answered, "With shadow skills, we can control zombies."

The room burst into uproar.

Qin Mu is currently the only known shadow psychic, and the shadow zombies and shadow mutant creatures encountered nowadays can often summon zombies, ghouls, and other undead creatures. But to control zombies! It is even said that he can turn living people into zombies. Such terrifying skills—how is this shadow psychic any different from a zombie king?

In fact, the initial animal experiments were conducted by Zhao Yi in collaboration with Zhou Yun, using the psychic seal on ducks. However, to protect Zhao Yi, they have been extremely cautious and have never publicly announced the existence of a second shadow psychic, whose abilities include rare psychic skills such as empathy and telepathy.

A reporter asked, "Has Deputy Governor Qin also used this seal?"

Qin Mu replied, "Of course, it feels excellent, though I doubt anyone would dare to try to steal my shadow crystal core."

The audience sighed, looking at the impeccably suited and smiling Qin Mu on the podium, and could only remain silent. As Deputy Governor of Guixu City and General Manager of Qingniao Pharmaceuticals, he now holds extraordinary status. With Guixu City's crystal core weapons, no one dares to question the sinister and eerie nature of his shadow skills.

Today was supposed to be a press conference for Qingniao Pharmaceuticals, but all three governors of Guixu City were present. Governor Zhu radiated righteousness, Deputy Governor Du was dressed luxuriously but had remained silent, seemingly distracted, as if he were merely a decorative figure there to gain experience, as the rumors suggested. Meanwhile, the hidden Lord of Dongjun, as always, remained unseen.

A reporter asked, "Since all the governors of Guixu City are present today, does this signify your collective confidence in the Crystal Core Psychic Seal?"

Du Zonghan spoke up: "Yes, this is a game-changing invention with huge implications. From now on, psychics won’t have to worry about their crystal cores being stolen anymore. The introduction of the crystal core spirit seal will bring unprecedented security and confidence to psychics..."

All the attendees at the press conference were stunned, watching Du Zonghan begin to speak at length: "At the same time, this will also bring more harmony and stability to our society in this post-apocalyptic world..."

...

Only to see Du Zonghan talk at length about its importance, finally concluding with a sense of excitement: "We look forward to witnessing the glorious future of the crystal core spirit seal together with everyone!"

Everyone hurriedly applauded, hoping to quickly end this formal speech.

Unexpectedly, Du Zonghan's eyes sparkled, and he seemed to suddenly awaken: "Next, we have another very important new product to unveil!"

The audience was confused, wasn’t it supposed to be over?

Only to see Du Zonghan suddenly take out a rabbit cage from under the podium and place it on the stage, enthusiastically introducing: "Everyone, please look at these volcanic rabbits. They mainly have two attributes, one is fire psychic, and the other is earth core. They have long fed on volcanic algae and moss... Their skills are respectively..."

After elaborating on the characteristics of the volcanic rabbits, he slightly raised his voice: "We know that lunar sand has the effects of improving liver and eye health, detoxifying, and getting rid of parasites. These effects are widely applied in traditional medicine theories and have also received some support from modern scientific research."

"And the lunar sand produced by these mutant volcanic rabbits is even more effective!"

Someone whispered to each other: "What is lunar sand?"

Someone looked it up on the spot: "Dried rabbit feces."

"..."

Du Zonghan was very pleased: "The lunar sand from earth core volcanic rabbits improves liver and eye health, detoxifies, and expels parasites, with really strong effects in treating eye diseases. It can not only treat myopia and cataracts, but two blind psychic patients who ingested the lunar sand from earth core volcanic rabbits, supplemented with acupuncture treatment, have got their vision back!"

The venue became lively, knowing that eye diseases are super hard to treat, and now the lunar sand from earth core volcanic rabbits has such effects? Someone quickly asked: "Is it only effective for psychic patients? Can ordinary people benefit?"

Du Zonghan said: "For ordinary people with dry eye syndrome, glaucoma, myopia, hyperopia, cataracts, etc., it works really well, but for blindness, the effect is not as good as for psychics."

Someone whispered: "But now, ordinary people also have the hope of becoming psychics."

Everyone got really excited.

A reporter keenly asked: "What about the fire psychic volcanic rabbits?"

Du Zonghan said: "The lunar sand produced by fire psychic volcanic rabbits has the opposite effect. After ingestion, it warms and nourishes the body, giving a big energy boost, especially for psychics, it has a very obvious short-term enhancement effect, similar to mutant agave liquor! And it is even more effective for fire psychics."

Everyone's eyes fell on the plump, pink rabbits in the cage made of shadow hemp, their gazes becoming fervent.

A reporter asked: "So, is this press conference introducing a new medicine with lunar sand from volcanic rabbits?"

Du Zonghan smiled shyly: "Not only that, we have also mastered the method of domesticating volcanic rabbits. Now we can sell volcanic rabbits, sold in pairs. They have astonishing reproductive abilities, are beautiful and cute in appearance, and have medicinal value, making them a great pet option!"

At the press conference, Zhou Yun and Qin Sheng stood in a corner far from the stage, watching. Qin Sheng complained: "Governor Du might look honest, but he's actually pretty sneaky. His introduction avoids the important points. These rabbits eat a lot, reproduce quickly, look cute, but are not obedient at all, run and jump very fast, can spit fire, and earth psychics can easily escape. They are not easy to raise at all. Now Governor Du can't even recruit volunteers to raise volcanic rabbits. Psychics immediately refuse when they hear it's a task at the volcanic rabbit farm."

Zhou Yun couldn’t help but laugh: "Even so, many psychics will still be willing to buy them, especially those with eye diseases at home, or fire psychics."

Qin Sheng said: "But, volcanic rabbits look plump, they should be delicious, right?"

Zhou Yun: "..."

Only to see Du Zonghan finally finish his introduction, and Zhu Zhuan finally regained the rhythm, went over a few new medicines again, and then politely left ten minutes for the media present to ask questions freely.

A female reporter stood up and asked: "We have noticed that Guixu City has been on a roll lately. The invention of the crystal core shield, the successful case of crystal core transplantation surgery, the establishment and enrollment of Guixu Academy, tourism in this post-apocalyptic world and psychic contests, and today's release of the psychic crystal core seal and a series of new medicines. With so many measures frequently released, does this mean that Guixu City has big political moves coming up?"

Everyone fell silent.

The power of Guixu City is so striking, so what about their political ambitions?

Zhu Zhuan smiled and said, "Guixu City develops weapons solely for defense. And the recent series of measures are merely a tribute."

A tribute? What for? The reporters were all puzzled, looking around and whispering to each other.

The female reporter persisted: "Is it a tribute for a significant holiday?"

Zhu Zhuan smiled mysteriously: "Please continue to follow our official announcements from Guixu City, which should be released soon."

Qin Sheng said, "Brother Zhu really knows how to make an impression."

Zhou Yun chuckled, then noticed a tall man entering from the side door of the press hall, followed by a group of guards. Although they were in plain clothes, they walked with a brisk and vigorous stride.

Qin Sheng remarked, "Wow, here comes another show-off."

Zhou Yun was surprised: "What brings General Ye here so early? The auditions haven't finished yet."

Ye Yuqing quickly approached him, took off his sunglasses, revealing a pair of eyes brighter than before. He looked at Zhou Yun with a sharp, calm gaze, but upon seeing him, he smiled, his eyes sparkling: "Dr. Zhou, this is our first meeting, allow me to formally introduce myself."

Zhou Yun looked at his eyes and marveled, "It seems the Moonlight Sand is truly effective." He recovered much faster than Qin Sheng.

Ye Yuqing was silent.
