Chapter 183: You Call This Clothes? I Won’t Wear It!
byChapter 183: You Call This Clothes? I Won’t Wear It!
Quan Ruifeng walked over leisurely from a distance, helping Xia Xian reject Yao Runfei. The two had already agreed to have dinner together. After being apart for a while, their reunion felt sweeter than a honeymoon—how could Quan Ruifeng allow someone else to intrude?
"Then add me in! What’s the difference between a few people eating together? I’ll even treat you to your share!"
Yao Runfei declared with grand enthusiasm upon hearing this, practically embodying the poster child for kindness with questionable smarts!
Xia Xian and Quan Ruifeng fell silent. Hadn’t they made themselves clear enough? Did this person not know they were married?
After a long silence, Xia Xian finally asked earnestly, "Have you ever dated anyone?"
"No, why?"
"Never mind. Go find yourself someone."
Xia Xian shook her head and walked off side by side with Quan Ruifeng.
"Wait, what do you mean by that?"
"Does not being in a relationship mean I can’t join you?"
Yao Runfei scratched her head and chased after them, muttering to herself before suddenly stopping in realization!
Ah! Xia Xian and Quan Ruifeng were a couple, and Shen You and Zhou Xingshi were another pair—they liked to pair off!
Now she understood!
But understanding was one thing; actually doing it was another! Finding a partner wasn’t that easy! She wouldn’t settle for someone she didn’t like!
For a moment, Yao Runfei found herself in a real pickle.
Xia Xian and Quan Ruifeng had no idea this girl had such an active imagination. Xia Xian even showed the materials to Quan Ruifeng.
"Her notes are really good. You should take a look at them later."
Xia Xian generously shared with Quan Ruifeng. Since Yao Runfei insisted on giving them to her, she’d take them for now and figure things out later. Whatever Yao Runfei’s motives might be, she’d grab the opportunity first!
Xia Xian was eager to work on her weak areas, especially since their field required extensive research—much of it foreign-language sources. Being bad at English was a real pain.
"Alright."
Quan Ruifeng glanced at the notes and agreed they were excellent. There was always a bigger fish, and he didn’t consider himself invincible. Learning from others couldn't go wrong.
But this could wait. Quan Ruifeng had something more urgent on his mind.
The saying "absence makes the heart grow fonder" had been repeated countless times, but for Quan Ruifeng and Xia Xian, their reunion felt even more passionate than newlyweds!
He missed Xia Xian!
"Sweetheart, let’s go back to the old house tonight, okay?"
Quan Ruifeng asked softly, his jet-black eyes gazing at Xia Xian with deep affection.
This phrase was practically their little code—whenever it was mentioned, they both knew what would follow, and no one else would understand. It allowed them to talk openly yet secretly in public.
Xia Xian’s ears turned red upon hearing this. She scanned their surroundings again, confirming no one was paying attention, before giving an almost imperceptible nod.
"Okay."
She didn’t refuse Quan Ruifeng’s advances, only shyly nodded and changed the subject.
She missed him too. Once you've tasted honey, you crave more—especially when Quan Ruifeng was perfect in every way.
Xia Xian had grown accustomed to his attentions and naturally didn’t resist.
The young couple with a tacit understanding ended the topic and moved on to other conversations.
When Quan Ruifeng first returned, it wasn’t as if he and Xia Xian hadn’t—
But being young, vigorous, and full of energy, how could that be enough? So, taking advantage of having no classes the next morning, they planned to sneak back for some private time!
Having an old house was so convenient. They didn’t have to face their family’s concerned questions—no matter how bold they were, it was embarrassing to discuss such things with relatives, even if they had been through it themselves. That sense of modesty lingered.
So, the two always went to the old house, returning to school by noon the next day without stopping by the family courtyard. Naturally, their family wouldn’t know they’d been back.
This time was no exception. The moment Xia Xian and Quan Ruifeng returned and closed the door, they couldn’t help but embrace, hungrily seeking each other's lips—
The air filled with their heated breaths and pounding heartbeats, their impatience palpable.
"Sweetheart, what do you want today?"
Quan Ruifeng asked as he peeled off Xia Xian’s cumbersome clothes.
"Let’s go to the room first. I bought you a suit—you can wear that. Mmm, but don’t button it up. Such beautiful abs should be on display~~~"
Xia Xian traced her fingers over his washboard-like muscles, grinning like a little minx.
Not only were they pleasing to the eye, but the feel was incredible too—
No one could dislike them.
"Alright, whatever you say. I also bought something for you—how about you put it on for me?"
Quan Ruifeng nuzzled Xia Xian affectionately and carried her to the room.
"No problem, sure."
Xia Xian agreed readily—until Quan Ruifeng revealed the outfit, and she realized she’d been tricked!
"You call this clothes? I won’t wear it!"
This was worse than wearing nothing at all!
Xia Xian had grown comfortable being bare with Quan Ruifeng, but wearing these ridiculous outfits was a hard no!
The top was just a bodice, and the bottom was an extremely short skirt that barely reached mid-thigh—and it even had a high slit! It almost didn’t cover her backside—
It was just too revealing—
Xia Xian shook her head repeatedly, trying to refuse, but Quan Ruifeng leaned in and whispered something in her ear, making her hesitate before reluctantly agreeing.
"Fine… but you’d better mean it."
"Have I ever let you down?"
Quan Ruifeng countered.
That's true, so Xia Xian was tricked into wearing the fancy clothes.
Quan Ruifeng’s eyes darkened, unable to tear his eyes away from Xia Xian.
In this little world that belonged only to them, the two lost themselves in each other.
Meanwhile, Bai Lian was preparing to sneak Chu Nannan in to confront Xia Xian—this was their last chance. They had to succeed; failure wasn’t an option!
Last time, Chu Sheng had been useless. Even with Chu Nannan, such a trump card, he couldn’t get any money from Xia Xian and was even kicked out. Utterly stupid!
This time, with her taking charge, success was guaranteed!
When Bai Lian learned how well Xia Xian was living and how wealthy her man was, she was green with envy, practically foaming at the mouth!
Not only that, but she also wanted Xia Xian to find a way to spring her son, Xiao Jun, loose. He was her only son—she wasn’t about to write him off!
Deep down, she still cared about him!
But while they called it "sneaking," Chu Sheng was currently trapped at home by the Gao family, unable to go anywhere. Even though he had already begged for mercy, promising never to bother Xia Xian or her family again, the Gaos still didn’t fully trust him. They kept dropping by to snoop frequently, so he stayed put, waiting for them to believe him.
That said, he wasn’t trying to fool the Gao family—he was genuinely exhausted. He felt like he couldn’t win against Xia Xian, so he might as well give up.
With Chu Nannan, who could foresee the future, they could jump on the first business opportunity once things loosened up. They could make money and succeed without having to cling to Xia Xian!
Once they succeeded, they could get their payback.
So when he noticed Bai Lian making moves, he immediately tried to dissuade her.
"Don’t go. Let’s just stay and live a peaceful life, alright? I promise I’ll earn money—enough to buy each of you a big house! And we’ll get Xiao Jun out! The four of us can live happily together! Why provoke Xia Xian again?"
"We can’t beat her. Aren’t we just walking into a slaughter?"
Chu Sheng begged, but Bai Lian wouldn’t listen. She sneered.
"What’s your guarantee you’ll make money? What do you even have to earn it with? Right now, you’re broke as a joke—you’re still mooching off me!"
Seeing Chu Sheng and Chu Nannan’s faces fall, she quickly backpedaled, adding.
