    Chapter 15

    1

Pei Chang drew a deep breath, turned, and walked forward with an impassive face.

The experimental data, tucked in his pocket, clearly detailed the transformation of the individual from a human being to his current state.

This process might have spanned a considerable length of time, and that particular year might not even have been the most agonizing.

After enduring such inhuman torment, he couldn't fathom why the other still clung to life.

Pei Chang half-crouched, observing the other with detached indifference.

A moment later, he pulled a cigarette from his pocket and asked hoarsely, "Smoke?"

He then chuckled, lighting the cigarette himself. "Forgot you can't speak."

Sitting on the ground, he spoke with a malicious edge: "Why can't you speak? Only those with severed tongues are mute, yet yours is so remarkably agile."

By the final phrase, a chilling glint flickered deep in his eyes.

The sensation of climaxing in the other's mouth last night was something he would never forget!

Regardless of his words, the other remained seated on the ground, still as stone. Even as Pei Chang radiated a frigid intensity, the other merely watched him in silence.

The focused gaze seemed to etch Pei Chang's image deeply into his memory.

This scrutiny agitated Pei Chang immensely, his pent-up frustration finding no release. He stood and violently slammed the cigarette to the ground, sending sparks flying.

Yet, this failed to alleviate his foul mood. He lit another cigarette, took only two puffs, and was about to extinguish it on his palm.

Just as he raised his hand, a larger, longer hand intervened.

Pei Chang looked up at the face before him, then at the hand blocking his way. He sneered, grinding the cigarette butt viciously into the other's palm.

Dark gray ash mingled with embers as it fell, even the filter twisted and deformed.

The other seemed impervious to pain, watching him with even greater intensity, just as he had silently endured Pei Chang biting off a piece of his flesh that morning.

    Tolerance.

This word struck a nerve, touching a bottom line Pei Chang could never accept.

His eyes turned bloodshot as he glared at the other, the rage and malevolence within him seemingly intent on tearing the monster apart!

But Pei Chang didn't realize that beneath the rage, his deeply hidden fragility lay shattered like broken glass.

He couldn't see it, but the monster before him could.

The hand, scorched by the cigarette, gently rose, softly caressing Pei Chang's cheek.

The sorrow in those eyes was like molten lava, threatening to reduce Pei Chang to ash, flesh and bone.

He didn't understand why the other's gaze held such grief; he only felt his heart violently twisted, a searing pain suddenly engulfing him.

It hurt more than a thousand needles piercing through him.

He stood abruptly, stumbling backward, an inexplicable agony driving him to flee.

He could no longer, could no longer look into those eyes.

    Now!

    Immediately!

    Leave this place at once!

But just as he turned to depart, an arm wrapped around Pei Chang’s waist, pulling him back with force.

Pei Chang’s eyes widened as he abruptly landed in the other's lap.

    "Let go of me!"

His back pressed against the other's lean chest, his waist immobilized.

Then he felt a subtly deepening breath near his ear, the long, flowing hair gently sliding down, covering half his arm.

Through the wide floor-to-ceiling mirror, Pei Chang saw the pair of jet-black eyes behind him, fixated on him.

    As if saying:

—Where do you think you’re going?

    —Where are you going?

"Let go! I told you to let go! You bastard!"

Pei Chang grabbed the other's arm, attempting to struggle free, but was held tight and forced back down.

Their extreme proximity pressed Pei Chang’s back firmly against the other's chest.

Even though Pei Chang had never regarded the other as human, he couldn't deny that this was a normal male body.

Pei Chang’s face paled as he felt the hand on his waist forcing his thighs apart. He quickly snapped, "Don't you dare!"

The other raised a knee, and Pei Chang’s legs were immediately splayed. The significant size difference meant Pei Chang’s forcibly spread legs could only touch the ground with his toes.

Pei Chang’s wrists were seized and pinned to his chest, his suit jacket sliding down to his elbows, his shirt buttons undone beneath.

Those eyes remained firmly locked on Pei Chang.

    Filled with dark, twisted desire.

He realized that passive waiting was futile.

He could no longer tolerate the scent and traces of others on Pei Chang from last night.

Now, he had long succumbed to darkness, transforming into a sinister specter.

Plunder and possession were the only means to satisfy his shameful cravings!

He lowered his head, taking a deep breath near Pei Chang’s neck. Pei Chang's scent made his fingertips tremble slightly. He buried his face in Pei Chang’s shoulder, an inexpressible grief almost drowning him.

No matter when, Pei Chang was always as pure and pristine as he remembered.

But then, hunger intertwined with other vile desires made his throat bob uncontrollably.

He ran his long tongue from Pei Chang’s collarbone to behind his ear, then used his sharp teeth to tear off the bandage on Pei Chang’s neck.

The healed bite marks above were fine and small, like two vivid red moles, passionate and striking on Pei Chang's slender neck.

He let out heavy, ragged breathing and suddenly bit down.

    "Mmm..."

Pei Chang's insteps tensed, his chest arched upward, his waist trembling uncontrollably.

He tried to struggle, but only succeeded in disheveling his clothes further.

The bright red blood was carefully licked clean. Pei Chang tilted his head, his chest heaving continuously.

At this moment, he had become the other's captured prey, utterly powerless to resist.

"What exactly do you want to do!" he spoke hoarsely, his face maintaining an icy expression.

The monster didn’t answer him, nor did it do anything further. It simply tightened its grip around Pei Chang’s waist, pulling him tightly into an embrace.

In the stillness, Pei Chang closed his eyes. His tense body gradually lost strength in such a tight embrace.

He couldn’t help but let out a self-mocking sigh inwardly.

Had he really become so lonely to this extent?

Just one embrace had shattered all his defenses and tension into helpless dissolution.

    Pei Chang seemed utterly exhausted.

He closed his eyes, the deep shadows under them lingering year after year, giving him a gloomy, cold demeanor.

Now, surrounded by silence, all his weariness transformed into the dark air around him, seeping heavily into his body.

Pei Chang’s remaining will to resist faded, and he slipped unconsciously into sleep.

A hand supported Pei Chang’s chin, letting his drooping head lean back against a thin but firm shoulder.

And in a place Pei Chang couldn’t see, a pair of eyes watched intently and calmly at his reflection in the mirror.

    —

The next day, the reception desk received another package, specifically addressed to Pei Chang.

No one expected the same package to arrive again. Before Special Assistant Sun could intercept the delivery person, they had already left.

After checking the surveillance, it was clear this wasn’t the same person who delivered the package yesterday.

"CEO Pei." Special Assistant Sun handed the documents to Pei Chang.

It was still a year’s worth of experimental records, but with subtle differences from the previous one.

The main variation was that the experimental subject’s mutant condition displayed dangerous rejection symptoms.

There was no identification on it, not even the most basic physical data—only obscure, specialized terminology.

Special Assistant Sun glanced at the medical tape on Pei Chang’s neck, covering a larger area than yesterday's bandage, seemingly meant to conceal newly added marks.

He averted his gaze, pretending not to have noticed, straightened up, and said, "Tomorrow I’ll have someone positioned at the reception desk in advance to intercept the person as soon as they appear."

Pei Chang placed the form on the table and said calmly, "Start the investigation within the company first."

It’s difficult to mail a package between cities without sender information. It must be someone from the same city who took deliberate measures to disguise themselves. Since Pei Chang was last intercepted by the red-haired youth outside the company, we've increased security, making it hard for unrelated personnel to enter the company’s premises.

    "Understood."

Special Assistant Sun nodded and exited the office.

As soon as he stepped out, he saw the General Manager lingering outside.

This time, he stopped and took an extra glance at the man.

The General Manager took out a handkerchief to wipe the sweat from his forehead, with a guilty smile.

Special Assistant Sun looked him up and down and said flatly, "The weather’s turning cooler, General Manager Pei. Why are you still sweating so much?"

"Just old age, just old age," the General Manager chuckled dryly, avoiding Special Assistant Sun’s gaze.

Special Assistant Sun raised an eyebrow and walked away expressionlessly.

The General Manager stood at the door, stealing anxious glances into Pei Chang’s office.

He wrung the sweat from his handkerchief, then realizing this evidence of his nervousness could easily be discovered, quickly wiped the floor dry with his sleeve.

Grandpa Pei had only instructed him to deliver the item—nothing else.

Already a person with more desire than courage, after just two days, he couldn’t take the pressure anymore.

He had no idea what that thing even was.

But since Pei Chang showed no reaction, it should be fine...

    —

Pei Chang looked at the two experimental reports on the table and raised a hand to touch the bite marks on his neck.

This morning, he had woken in the other’s embrace. He didn’t get angry; instead, he calmly returned to the bedroom to treat the wound on his neck.

Even Pei Chang himself couldn’t explain where this dependence came from.

He didn't have a single dream last night.

Pei Chang closed his eyes, leaning back in his chair, and the image of those eyes full of sorrow from last night surfaced in his mind.

Pursing his lips, he clenched his fingers tightly.

An inexplicable panic silently invaded his heart.
