    Chapter 21 Challenge.

The first season of "Wilderness Adventure" reached its final day of live broadcast.

The guests got up as usual and had breakfast, but they all knew they would be leaving this planet tomorrow, and they were feeling somewhat down.

Their next recording would take place at a new location, and this planet would most likely be placed under protection and sealed off by the Department of Resource and Environment, making it difficult to return.

"I'm actually reluctant to leave..." Qin Shizhen looked at everything around them. The shed was built by their own hands and had withstood several heavy rainstorms. There was also the stone stove where Yu Xin had cooked all his delicious meals.

This feeling was completely different from when they first arrived. He still remembered how even the unflappable Best Actor Qin had almost given in to the impulse to turn around and leave when the director announced the rules for this season.

"Yeah," Ruan Qing said, "thinking about it, we really had a hard time. On the very first day, we encountered a heavy rainstorm, and to make matters worse, we even lost the cooking pot. Luckily, we had Yu Xin. Otherwise, I don’t know how we would have gotten through these five days..."

"I couldn’t have done it alone," Yu Xin said. "Without all of you, I couldn’t have done all this."

In his previous life, he had always worked alone, like a lone wolf. He hadn’t had companions for who knows how long. Although these people were clumsy and often made a lot of noise, having them as companions felt pretty good.

Just then, Sheng Xingyao, who had been silent until now, suddenly spoke up: "I want to find a way to get us another pot."

He had always felt ashamed about losing the pot. Now that they were about to leave, if he didn’t fix this mistake before departing, he would regret it forever.

"Get the pot back?" Qin Shizhen said in surprise. "How? This area is so vast. Who knows where the pot could be?"

"Right," Ruan Qing added, "and we’re about to leave anyway. Having a pot or not isn’t that important."

"Xingyao, no one blames you. You don’t need to feel so guilty."

"It’s precisely because we’re leaving that I want to do this," Sheng Xingyao said determinedly. He had been thinking about this for days. "Don’t worry, I’m not planning to find the exact pot we lost. I want to ask the production team for a new one."

"Do you think the production team will give us one?"

"I don’t know, but I want to try."

"Let him try," Yu Xin said, unexpectedly supportive. Having a pot or not didn’t make much difference to him, but he could tell that Sheng Xingyao had been hung up on losing the pot. If that was the case, why not let him make amends?

Sheng Xingyao gave Yu Xin a grateful look. He hadn’t expected Yu Xin to support him.

"If you can really get a pot, I can make hotpot for everyone."

"Hotpot!" Ruan Qing’s eyes lit up instantly. She was a die-hard hotpot fan.

"I’ll go with you," Shen Tong suddenly said. She and Sheng Xingyao were the perfect dynamic duo, and going to ask the production team for a pot was just right for them.

"Alright then," Qin Shizhen could only say, "go ahead and try. But if the production team makes any ridiculous demands, just forget it. Don’t overdo it."

Once they had decided, they turned to the camera to call for the production team.

"Director, are you there? I know you’re hiding somewhere. Please come over. We have something to discuss with you."

The production team was surprised. After recording so many seasons, this was the first time guests had reached out to make a request.

Curious about what the guests wanted, they sent a staff member over.

"Alright, what do you want to discuss?"

"You know we lost our pot, right? Can you get us a new one?" Sheng Xingyao asked.

The director and assistant director, watching from the monitor, exchanged a glance and gave instructions through the staff member’s earpiece.

"That’s not possible," the staff member said, following the director’s orders. "We only prepared one pot. If it’s lost, it’s lost. There’s no reason to give you another one."

They had expected this answer. Shen Tong and Sheng Xingyao weren’t too disappointed. After discussing for a moment, Shen Tong added, "We’re not asking for the pot for free. You can set a condition. As long as it’s not too unreasonable, we can accept it."

"If you won’t agree to that..." Shen Tong narrowed her eyes, her tone deceptively light but threatening.

"You suddenly switched up the rules this season. When you invited us, you didn’t tell us, and it wasn’t stated in the contract either..."

The director was stumped. He had forgotten about that.

"If the guests make a big deal out of this, then guess how many people would be willing to join a variety show that disregards guests’ safety and only cares about attracting attention and ratings?"

    Shen Tong smiled confidently.

She was the daughter of a financial group, and her family employed a lawyer team renowned across the star system. Sheng Xingyao, on the other hand, came from the oldest entertainment company in the capital, which was a force to be reckoned with.

If these two sides joined forces to cause trouble, the production team would be in trouble, and their reputation in the industry would take a hit. It would be hard to say if they could even invite guests for the next season.

    "Whoa, Miss Shen is fierce!"

"That smile just now was so badass! I’m not a lesbian, but sister, I’m yours!! (Squealing)"

"Honestly, the production team crossed a line this time. They’re clearly milking the guests’ misery to gain attention. Even if nothing serious happens to them, they still have to suffer."

"Right. If it weren’t for Yu Xin, they would have been drenched by the rain on the first day and had nothing to eat... Just thinking about it is awful. It’s normal for Shen Tong to stand her ground."

"They’re just celebrities! Aren’t they on the show to entertain the audience? What’s wrong with suffering a little? When they rake in the cash easily, you don’t see them complaining."

"Are you okay?? If you’re so bitter about the rich, maybe you should drink some pesticide to get your head straight."

"Exactly. We watch variety shows not to see guests being messed with. How messed up do you have to be to enjoy others’ suffering?"

    The director went quiet.

The previous seasons had taught them that making things difficult for guests paid off, so they had started pushing it too far down this path. In this matter, they were indeed at fault.

But should they really give in to Sheng Xingyao and Shen Tong like this? Being threatened in front of so many viewers and then compromising—where would the dignity of the production team be??

The assistant director, however, tugged at his sleeve and whispered, "Director, maybe we should just agree. Haven’t you always wanted a chance to pressure them? Now the opportunity has come to us. Why not take it?"

The director smacked his knee. Right! Why hadn’t he thought of that?

The reason they didn’t provide food for the guests this season was originally to wait until the guests were desperate and came begging, so they could make some unreasonable demands.

But they had Yu Xin. Not only did the guests not go hungry, but they ate even better than the production team, ruining the director’s plans.

Now, the guests were asking them to make demands. Wasn’t this exactly what they had originally envisioned?

But what kind of demand should they make to challenge the guests? This required careful thought.

After discussing for a while, the production team gave their reply through the staff member: "Alright, we agree. But we have a condition. If you can accomplish it, the production team will give you the pot."

    "What condition?"

The staff member pulled up a projection: "See this river? It’s another branch of the river near your camp. Someone will take you there later."

The river in the projection was nothing like the small stream next to their camp. It was hundreds of meters wide and appeared extremely deep.

"No matter what method you use, as long as you can cross the river and reach the opposite bank, you will have completed the task."

"But only Sheng Xingyao can participate; the others can only help out."

Yu Xin, as an unpredictable factor, is way too OP, so of course they had to exclude him first.

"In that case, d'you still dare to accept the challenge?"
