Chapter 62: Your Followed Streamer Is Now Online...

Yu Xin packed his belongings and, with Ji Yixing’s assistance, moved back to the Central Tower.

The moment he opened the door to his new room, Yu Xin was speechless.

If his previous room was a standard hotel room, this one was undoubtedly a five-star presidential suite.

Beyond a massive master bedroom, it boasted a small living room, a study, a bathroom, and even a fully equipped kitchenette.

From the balcony, several times larger than his old one, he looked down to see a shimmering, emerald-green swimming pool, sparkling under the sunlight.

Opening the refrigerator, he found it crammed with every imaginable fresh ingredient—from vegetables and fruits to meats and seafood—leaving virtually no empty space.

All other daily necessities were also fully stocked. A faint, sweet fragrance permeated the air, and the ventilation system automatically circulated fresh air.

In fact, the moment they stepped inside, the home system had already adjusted the humidity and temperature to the most comfortable levels for the human body. The lighting, too, had been subtly softened to the perfect brightness, adapting to the minute contractions of their pupils, making the entire space exquisitely comfortable.

The whole space seemed to "awaken" with their arrival.

The home system’s synthesized female voice was gentle and pleasant, entirely devoid of the usual coldness and rigidity of electronic tones: "Welcome home. Please feel free to call upon me for any requests. Home System AC1201 is at your service."

...Yu Xin, the unworldly Earther, was truly astounded this time.

    "AC1201?" he tentatively called out.

"I'm here," the female voice immediately responded. "A bit of a mouthful, isn't it? I think so too. Actually, you could give me a nicer name."

Yu Xin felt a strange sensation—he actually detected a hint of hurt feelings in that electronic voice?

    "Follow me."

After touring the luxurious suite, Yu Xin was led by Ji Yixing to a particular room.

Ji Yixing opened the door, revealing a sleek, silver-white gaming pod resting quietly in the center of the room.

Yu Xin unconsciously held his breath, his fingers tracing the pod’s smooth surface. Ji Yixing lightly pressed a button on the device, and a cascade of elegant lights flashed across it as the pod door slowly opened, revealing an interior spacious enough for one person to recline. Just looking at it, one could imagine the sheer joy of gaming inside.

"This is a dedicated gaming room. The game you play has already been installed," Ji Yixing added considerately.

"Thank you, General," Yu Xin said, once again grateful he had agreed to work at Iris Base. Regardless of anything else, the employee benefits were simply outstanding.

Yu Xin felt his work enthusiasm soar to unprecedented heights. Indeed, good employees thrive under good bosses. So, those bosses whose employees are either slacking off or underperforming should really do some self-reflection. He asked, "General, when do I start working? Starting now would be just in time for dinner."

"No need to rush for dinner," Ji Yixing said, a slight curve to his lips. "First, come with me to meet a few people."

"Some have been wanting to meet you for a long time."

    *******

"So you’re Yu Xin. I finally get to meet you in person. You're quite the young man—not only is your cooking excellent, but you’re also quite handsome."

Ji Yixing took Yu Xin to his office. As soon as they entered, an elderly man with silver hair, dressed in a pristine white medical uniform, hurried forward and firmly grasped Yu Xin’s hand, shaking it repeatedly.

Yu Xin was a little overwhelmed by the old man’s enthusiasm. While politely responding, he shot a pleading glance toward Ji Yixing.

Ji Yixing smiled and introduced him: "This is Professor Mo, the chief doctor of my medical team. You can just call him Professor Mo."

Professor Mo’s eyes sparkled as he stared at Yu Xin, exclaiming, "A medical miracle! I’ve been trying to treat the General’s anorexia for nearly two years with little success, and you’ve solved most of it as soon as you appeared. The rest is just a matter of time. Yu Xin, you have no idea how much your presence has helped us."

By the end, the old man’s eyes were slightly moist. He had served as the chief doctor of the General’s medical team for decades and had personally witnessed the General’s recovery from a near-vegetative state to being almost indistinguishable from a normal person. Just when he thought the General had finally overcome this hurdle, another lingering shadow awaited him.

"Professor Mo, you're too kind. I’m not that remarkable—I just cooked a few meals..."

"Don’t be modest. We’ve invited countless top chefs with no success. For someone so young to cook so well, you kids are truly formidable."

Professor Mo admired this humble yet confident young man immensely, holding onto Yu Xin’s hand. The usually stern and serious old man now smiled with unparalleled kindness, enough to make his subordinates wonder if this was truly their no-nonsense teacher.

"Alright, Professor Mo, Yu Xin will be here from now on. You can express your admiration as much as you like. Now, it’s my turn."

The last person in the office spoke up with a smile, winking at Yu Xin: "Good to see you again, Mr. Yu."

This person was Bai Yizhou. They had met briefly at Silver Rose Square on a rainy day when Bai Yizhou, on Ji Yixing’s behalf, had given Yu Xin an umbrella. At the time, he never imagined that this black-haired young man would one day move into their base and become a colleague they’d see daily.

Bai Yizhou was also in military uniform, looking quite different from Yu Xin’s memory, though his smile remained just as warm.

Yu Xin extended his hand to shake his: "It’s good to see you again, Bai Yizhou. Please, just call me Yu Xin."

Bai Yizhou readily changed his address: "Alright, Yu Xin. Actually, there’s one more thing—I’d like to apologize on behalf of my younger brother, Bai Yin."

His tone grew more serious, and his smile faded slightly as he looked earnestly at Yu Xin: "As the base’s secretary, Bai Yin allowed personal feelings to interfere with his work and treated you poorly. I failed to guide him properly. I’ve already made him take some time to reflect. Now, I sincerely apologize on his behalf. I assure you, nothing like this will happen again."

    Wait... apologizing to whom?

    To him?

Yu Xin was momentarily bewildered by this unexpected turn of events. Bai Yizhou claimed Bai Yin had slighted him, but Yu Xin hadn’t felt slighted by anyone.

If he had to pinpoint something, Bai Yin’s attitude had indeed been somewhat subtle. Connecting this with Ji Yixing’s insistence on changing his accommodation, it wasn’t hard to guess what had happened.

Yu Xin found it somewhat amusing. Were they really from different worlds? These young masters from wealthy families actually saw putting him in an ordinary room as some kind of power play. Little did they know he’d slept in the wilderness for over a decade—any roof over his head was a luxury. What was this, casting pearls before swine?

He truly didn’t think an apology was necessary and began, "I didn’t feel slighted by anyone, Bai Yizhou. There’s no need to apologize..."

"What does it mean for you to apologize on his behalf? Tell Bai Yin to come apologize himself." Before Yu Xin could finish, Ji Yixing calmly interrupted him, his tone leaving no room for argument.

"That’s a given. Once he’s reflected properly, I’ll bring him here myself."

After chatting for a while, it was time to prepare dinner. Yu Xin was taken to the kitchen.

Bai Yizhou personally showed him. Upon entering, Yu Xin was once again astounded.

He dared say this was the largest, most well-equipped, and most luxurious kitchen he had ever seen—bar none.

Yu Xin had never imagined a kitchen could be described as luxurious. The chandelier overhead illuminated the space as bright as day. Every visible surface—floors, countertops, utensils—was gleaming and spotless.

Every kitchen gadget one could think of was present, including many Yu Xin had never seen or couldn’t name. He even suspected they had gathered every notable kitchen utensil in the empire, enough to host a small culinary expo.

"Do you actually use all of these?" he couldn’t help but ask Bai Yizhou.

"Of course not," Bai Yizhou shrugged. "We just collected one of everything we found out about. There’s plenty of space, so why not? You never know when they might come in handy."

    Yu Xin: ...

This was probably what they meant by "all the gear but no idea."

    "Over here, follow me."

Bai Yizhou led Yu Xin into the storage room. After entering the password, the metal door slowly opened before them, letting out a blast of cold air.

Stepping inside, Yu Xin was speechless all over again.

He roughly estimated that the place was at least a few hundred square meters—calling it a storeroom didn't do it justice; it was more like a warehouse.

As far as the eye could see, there were all kinds of ingredients.

There were all sorts of fresh vegetables, fruits, meats, poultry, eggs, dairy, both seafood and river delicacies—everything one could imagine. Just the variety of chili peppers alone, there were a good dozen types: green, red, large, small, long, short, spicy, and mild, all neatly arranged on the shelves. Some of the seafood had already been prepared, while some were still alive—not half-dead fish barely clinging to life, but visibly lively and energetic.

Yu Xin even spotted deep-sea fish that lived thousands of meters below the ocean’s surface, swimming joyfully in a tank.

Although the entire space was a refrigerated room, the temperature wasn’t particularly low, and it was quite comfortable for people inside. The fresh fruits and vegetables were preserved using some advanced technology, making them look as if they had just been picked from the field. Yu Xin noticed a small, vibrant bok choy, its leaves still dotted with water droplets.

"Similarly, you can find every ingredient known across the stars here," Bai Yizhou continued. "Even if something isn’t here, just let me know. If it exists in this world, I’ll find it for you."

No chef could remain unmoved by such a sight. Yu Xin couldn’t help but step forward, examining each ingredient one by one.

Many were unfamiliar to him, but there were also plenty he recognized—some he had even thought were long lost.

To his delight, Yu Xin discovered a jar of chopped chili paste, bright red and stored in a transparent glass container. It looked no different from the kind he had eaten back on Blue Star.

He turned to ask Bai Yizhou, who had been following him closely, "May I try this?"

"Of course. From now on, you have free rein over everything here. This space is yours to use as you please."

Yu Xin grabbed a slender silver spoon, opened the lid of the chopped chili paste, scooped up a small half-spoonful, and tasted it.

Sour and spicy, with the distinctive pungent aroma of chopped chili, it hit his taste buds.

    This was the flavor!

The familiar taste made Yu Xin’s fingers itch. Instantly, a dozen delicious recipes flashed through his mind, and he couldn’t wait to showcase his skills in this state-of-the-art kitchen.

With so many ingredients here, he needed to put some thought into tonight’s menu.

"By the way, I mentioned to the General before that I could livestream my cooking process, right?"

"The General's already briefed me," Bai Yizhou said, unsurprised, as he pulled out a pre-prepared streaming gear from some hidden corner. "I’ve got the equipment ready for you. As long as it doesn’t involve the General or the base, you’re free to stream as you like."

"Don’t worry, I’ll be careful," Yu Xin understood the stakes.

"Alright, I won’t disturb you any further. There are many helper bots you can use here, and you can call for help if you need an assistant. Looking forward to your feast tonight." Bai Yizhou playfully gave Yu Xin a cheering gesture before leaving the kitchen to report back to the General.

Yu Xin adjusted the livestreaming equipment and, after a week-long hiatus, went live again.

Soon, many viewers who had followed his channel heard the alert after waiting a whole week.

[Ding! The streamer "yu" you follow is now online. Come check out his channel~]

They eagerly clicked into the channel, where they were greeted by the same pair of slender hands and a calm, pleasant male voice: "Hello, friends. Welcome to my channel."

"Tonight’s menu: grilled ribs, crispy eggplant rolls, chopped chili bass, fresh shrimp and asparagus salad, and winter melon meatball soup."
