    Chapter 11

The helicopter searchlights flooded the tunnel with light.

Yi Wuyi stepped into the tunnel, his long shadow stretching out.

Before the clash could begin, the piercing wail of police sirens cut through the night, particularly unnerving.

The man leading the opposing group, dressed in a black hoodie, gave a hand signal.

The figures surrounding the Lincoln sedan immediately dispersed, scattering to various cars.

The men knocked unconscious by Xie Yunshen and lying on the ground were also loaded onto the truck.

Xie Yunshen wanted to stop them, but seeing that Yan Shiqi inside the car gave no order, he halted.

Before getting into his vehicle, the man in the black hoodie purposely walked past Xie Yunshen, their eyes meeting.

Xie Yunshen noticed that when the man walked, his left foot turned in while his right foot turned out. Though subtle, it was a telltale sign of a close-quarters combat pro.

The man boarded the truck, and the vehicles soon drove off.

In an instant, the tunnel was left empty except for their black sedan.

It was as if the entire dangerous moment had just been a dream.

"Is Mr. Yan alright?" Yi Wuyi rushed forward. Seeing Yan Shiqi sitting safely inside the car, his furrowed brow relaxed.

At that moment, the driver coolly stepped out of the car and opened the door for Yan Shiqi.

Xie Yunshen had to admire them; the Yan family was full of unsung experts. Even the driver was used to big scenes, remaining completely unfazed after experiencing such a scene.

Yan Shiqi stepped out of the car, and the group switched to the helicopter.

Xie Yunshen looked down at the night view below, remaining silent.

Noticing Xie Yunshen's unusually grim expression, which seemed somewhat displeased, Yan Shiqi asked, "What's wrong? Not enough fighting for you?"

"Don't you trust me?" Xie Yunshen stared straight at Yan Shiqi.

Yan Shiqi, rarely hesitant, frowned. "Are you referring to me not telling you about Lao Wu's whereabouts?"

Beside them, Yi Wuyi held his breath, quietly worried for Xie Yunshen.

He prayed Xie Yunshen wouldn't foolishly say anything out of line.

In the Yan family, the Patriarch's actions and thoughts were above those of any clan member. No one was allowed to question them.

"No," Xie Yunshen sighed. "It's just... I feel utterly defeated. As a supposedly great bodyguard, I actually had my employer call for backup during a mission. Do you understand that feeling?"

Yan Shiqi was amused by his sincere, gloomy tone, and it aroused his curiosity a little. "I truly don't understand."

Xie Yunshen said seriously, "Even so, I fully support your decision. Nothing is more important than your safety! And I will work hard to become stronger too."

Each sentence on its own was normal, but together, they sounded so chuunibyou and cringeworthy to others. Yet Xie Yunshen insisted on saying them so seriously.

A muffled laugh came from behind.

Xie Yunshen turned to see the driver and Yi Wuyi, each turning their faces away, fighting back laughter.

A clearer smile appeared on Yan Shiqi's face. "By all measures, you're already exceptional."

Upon hearing this, the suppressed laughter behind them became even harder to suppress.

Xie Yunshen: "..." Was that praise or sarcasm?

Already feeling profoundly discouraged, he grew even more frustrated.

On the second night after returning to the Yan residence, the butler told him that the gym he had designed was now completed.

Xie Yunshen placed his hand on the equipment's logo, unable to contain his excitement and delight.

From quality to functionality, everything was state-of-the-art gear. There was a professional sparring platform, and even the latest smart training robot.

Not having had enough action in the tunnel, and now with a combat platform, Xie Yunshen quickly dragged Yi Wuyi to be his sparring partner.

It was late at night, and Yan Shiqi had already retired, so they weren't needed on guard duty.

Both drenched in sweat, they sat beneath the combat platform.

"Come with me, I'll show you something good." Xie Yunshen stood up and motioned for Yi Wuyi to follow.

The gym was quite large. Besides the fitness equipment, Xie Yunshen had also designed seven small dark rooms.

He suddenly pushed Yi Wuyi into one of the dark rooms.

The sound of machinery whirring to life could be heard, accompanied by Yi Wuyi's shout: "Xie Yunshen!"

"No need to thank me, have fun!"

By the time Yi Wuyi emerged, he was nearly exhausted.

Xie Yunshen looked at him with a smile. "So? Fun, right?"

For several days in a row, whenever they had free time, the two would immerse themselves in the gym.

"Did you really teach yourself all this from online tutorials?" Yi Wuyi voiced his doubt after seeing Xie Yunshen perform an extremely high-difficulty combat move for the seventh time.

"Sigh, you don't believe it either, right?" Xie Yunshen knew he couldn't fool Yi Wuyi forever.

"I believe you!" Torn between upholding the truth and supporting his brother, Yi Wuyi could only choose to go against his conscience.

"Huh?!" Xie Yunshen had even prepared an excuse, never expecting Yi Wuyi to be so easily fooled.

Deceiving someone so straightforward made him feel a twinge of guilty conscience.

"Yi Wuyi." A cold voice rang out in the night, particularly chilling.

Yan Shizhou stood at the doorway, though no one knew for how long.

He had probably been watching them for a while.

The ease instantly vanished from Yi Wuyi's face as he turned and called out, "Third Young Master."

Xie Yunshen realized that within the Yan family, Yi Wuyi's status was somewhat delicate.

Although both of them served by Yan Shiqi's side, Xie Yunshen enjoyed the title of descendant of the Yan family's benefactor, granting him various special privileges.

Yi Wuyi's existence, however, was one of pure subordination. To put it bluntly, he seemed more like a chess piece cultivated specifically for the Patriarch.

Yi Wuyi was unwaveringly loyal to the Yan family and to Yan Shiqi, and he had always been respectful toward Yan Shizhou, the Third Young Master.

Yan Shizhou wore a white and blue color-blocked shirt, a faint, icy smile on his face.

He walked into the gym, his gaze fixed on Yi Wuyi. "Why do you look at me as if you've seen a ghost?"

Yi Wuyi said, "Did you need me for something?"

The faint sneer on Yan Shizhou's face vanished completely, instantly turning cold and ruthless. "Come with me."

Yi Wuyi took off his boxing gloves.

Xie Yunshen grabbed him and said to Yan Shizhou, "Third Young Master, what time do you think it is? Everyone's entitled to some personal space. Yi Wuyi isn't some robot owned by your Yan family."

A trace of disdain curled at the corner of Yan Shizhou's mouth. "Even if I made him sleep with me, would it be any of your business?"

Xie Yunshen was left speechless. "...That, I can't control..." Yi Wuyi placed a hand on Xie Yunshen's arm, signaling with his eyes for him to say no more, then followed Yan Shizhou and disappeared through the gym door.

Xie Yunshen went into the shower room, took a quick shower, changed his clothes, and instead of taking the elevator, he ran straight up the stairs to the third floor.

Yan Shiqi's room was on the third floor.

From the novel's perspective, Yan Shizhou was a bit of a psycho. He saw Yi Wuyi as an enemy, while Yi Wuyi remained single-mindedly loyal to the Yan family.

As long as Yi Wuyi was allowed to keep his life, no matter how Yan Shizhou tortured him, this man of few words probably wouldn't utter a sound.

Now, only Yan Shiqi could save Yi Wuyi.

There were two night-shift bodyguards at the room's entrance, also dispatched by the security company—the same two who had clashed with him last time.

As they exclaimed in surprise, Xie Yunshen pushed the door open directly.

Their horrified gazes followed Xie Yunshen as they watched him walk to the bedside, turn on the light, and forcibly pull Yan Shiqi, who was in deep sleep, upright at a 90-degree angle.

"Mr. Yan, Yi Wuyi has been taken away by Yan Shizhou." He enunciated each word clearly and precisely to emphasize the gravity of the situation.

Yan Shiqi didn't open his eyes immediately, merely reaching up to press his forehead.

Xie Yunshen, however, grabbed his shoulders and shook him. "What will that lunatic Third Young Master do to Yi Wuyi?"

The two bodyguards were nearly scared out of their wits: barging into Patriarch Yan's room in the middle of the night, pulling the sleeping patriarch out of bed and shaking him while calling the Third Young Master a madman.

Any one of these actions was a "capital offense."

What was not widely known was that the usually strategic, calm, and self-controlled Patriarch Yan had actually suffered from insomnia for many years.

And those who suffer from insomnia share a significant flaw: they have a terrible temper upon waking.

It was said that the previous security company that worked with the Yan family was replaced entirely because a duty bodyguard, urged by a business partner, connected a call to Yan Shiqi's room, disturbing the big boss's afternoon nap.

Now, this reckless fool had actually dragged the boss out of bed and shaken him violently.

Even if Xie Yunshen had an immunity token, he would likely be skinned alive.
