Chapter 27
byChapter 27
Ming Ya had no idea that inviting Ruan Yunchu to stay at his home might cause any other trouble. His long-admired idol had agreed to his invitation without hesitation, and he was already beside himself with joy, with no energy left to think about anything else.
From the moment they got into the car, he talked nonstop about his ambitions and ideals after joining the family business, then started talking about the design and concepts of the new project. He talked all the way from getting in the car to getting out, and only realized when the car stopped how much he had been talking, to the point that he was a little embarrassed when he stepped out.
"Sorry, Mr. Ruan. I originally invited you here as a guest, but I ended up rambling on with all this nonsense."
Ruan Yunchu naturally didn't mind. Moreover, Ming Ya had a simple and kind personality, without any hidden agenda. Being around someone like him wasn't tiring at all.
"It's fine. It's just that it's already very late today, and I'm afraid we won't have time to discuss this in detail. How about we talk tomorrow?"
Ming Ya quickly nodded. "Of course! If you don't mind, we could also visit Yuanya Corporation tomorrow. The second prototype of this car is already done. You'll get a much better sense of it in person."
"Alright. We'll talk tomorrow."
Ming Ya didn't say anything more. He personally walked Ruan Yunchu back to his room, made sure everything he had arranged was in order, and then reluctantly left.
Once the door was closed, Chen Quan began to check every inch of the room using professional equipment.
Ruan Yunchu sat quietly in his wheelchair, not moving.
"No issues. That young man has arranged everything very thoughtfully. There's nothing else in the room."
"Good."
Ruan Yunchu glanced at the time. "Their security system here is different from ours."
"Yes. Yuanya Group has a long-term partnership with the military. Many military test products are first tested in these enterprises."
Ruan Yunchu slowly looked downstairs. His gaze fell on small drones flying slowly through the air on patrol. It was clear that the Ming family's security was indeed tight.
Chen Quan could tell what he was worried about and couldn't help but smile. "Just get a good night's sleep. I doubt even Yan Zhuo could get in here even if he grew wings."
Ruan Yunchu heard the hint of amusement in his tone and found it interesting. "You and Yan Zhuo are on good terms."
This was not a question, but a statement.
Chen Quan's smile faded, and he said rather helplessly, "Honestly, I'm not close with anyone in the household. In their eyes, I'm your overseer. People just flatter me; no one genuinely wants to be my friend. Yan Zhuo... he's indeed an exception."
"Indeed."
Yan Zhuo seemed to have many issues, yet he remained inscrutable.
And he seemed to hide nothing either, as if he let others pry into everything about him. But the results of such probing were never what they hoped for.
Thinking this, Ruan Yunchu dropped the subject.
The night was late, and the room was quiet. Soft, soothing music played in the background. He had thought it would be hard for him to fall asleep, but soon after lying down, his mind wandered off without him noticing.
-
The next morning, as soon as Ruan Yunchu stepped out, he saw Ming Ya waiting early at the door. When he saw Ruan Yunchu, he beamed.
"Mr. Ruan! Good morning."
Ruan Yunchu gave a faint smile. "Good morning."
His wheelchair had already switched to automatic mode and slowly moved toward the elevator. Ming Ya naturally walked by his side.
"Did you sleep okay? Anything make you uncomfortable?"
Ruan Yunchu replied calmly, "I slept well. Even better than at home."
Ming Ya looked a little embarrassed at that. "Actually, the bed you slept on is a special sleep bed designed by our group. When someone lies down, it automatically emits sleep-inducing waves to help you fall asleep. But don't worry, that mode is completely harmless to humans."
"It's fine." Ruan Yunchu slowly entered the elevator, then thought of something. "Is this bed available for order now?"
From the reflective wall of the elevator, he saw the young man's eyes light up in the reflection, and then he said excitedly, "It's going on sale at the end of the month. Can I give you two of them? I'll customize them myself."
"That's really nice of you."
Ruan Yunchu was not one for pleasantries. He knew that Ming Ya needed something from him, and he didn't hesitate to accept favors.
When they went downstairs for breakfast, Ruan Yunchu saw a man leaning on a cane in the empty dining room.
"Brother!" Ming Ya ran over happily, took the man's arm, and turned to look at Ruan Yunchu with a smile. "Mr. Ruan, this is my brother, Ming Yuan."
Ruan Yunchu's gaze swept over the man's slightly stiff left leg, and he nodded slightly. "Hello, Mr. Ming."
Ming Yuan was very handsome, but there was a distinct scar on his face, running from his left brow ridge across the bridge of his nose.
He gave a faint smile. "Hello, Mr. Ruan. I've heard so much about you."
Ming Ya sensed the awkward atmosphere and cleared his throat, inviting them both to sit at the dining table for breakfast.
Ruan Yunchu slowly wheeled his chair to an empty seat at the table. Chen Quan walked over and helped arrange his utensils.
Ruan Yunchu didn't like to talk while eating, and he was a bit groggy from waking up early. Ming Yuan and Ming Ya clearly had good table manners, ate with elegance, and remained quiet.
After breakfast, Ming Ya wiped his lips with a napkin and looked eagerly at Ruan Yunchu. "Mr. Ruan, shall I take you upstairs to see the model first? It's in my study."
Ruan Yunchu wiped the corner of his mouth with a napkin and nodded. "Alright."
They went upstairs together. Just before the elevator doors closed, Ruan Yunchu saw Ming Yuan walking slowly with his cane toward the yard.
Ming Ya noticed his gaze and explained softly, "My brother takes a walk every morning. He goes to the company later."
"A good habit," Ruan Yunchu replied.
Ming Ya seemed to have something else to say, but after opening his mouth, he ultimately couldn't bring himself to speak.
Luckily, at that moment, the elevator doors opened. He walked out first and showed Ruan Yunchu into his study.
The study was spacious, with three walls lined with floor-to-ceiling bookshelves filled with professional books and various scale models of hovercars. In the center was a large simulation table. The desk by the window was strewn with messy drawings, which was very Ming Ya.
"Mr. Ruan, please have a seat for a moment. I'll fire up the simulation table and show you the specific design."
After saying this hurriedly, Ming Ya bent down to operate the simulation table.
Ruan Yunchu said "Okay" and cast his eyes over the desk. It was so cluttered that, aside from documents and drawings, there was only enough room for a photonic computer.
Meanwhile, one shelf in the bookshelf had a transparent glass door, so he could see many photo frames inside.
As he waited for the simulation table to boot up, Ming Ya noticed his curiosity and couldn't help but say, "Those inside are photos of my parents, and old photos of me and my brother. Oh, and there are some group photos of my parents with some high-ranking military officers."
Ruan Yunchu knew Ming Ya's parents were currently off-planet, expanding the company's operations on other planets, and weren't on Planet A.
Seeing that he seemed interested, Ming Ya took the initiative to open the cabinet door and invited him to come and see.
"This is Lieutenant General Zhan... and this one is a photo taken at a banquet with Lieutenant General Peng Zhongying. My parents' photos are from a long time ago. They used to do warship research and even visited the front lines. Oh! And I think there's one with the current Commander."
Ruan Yunchu's heart suddenly lurched upon hearing that keyword. "The Commander?"
"Yes, but he wasn't the Commander back then." Ming Ya stood on tiptoe, feeling around inside, a hint of pride in his voice.
It was admiration and reverence for his remarkable parents.
Ruan Yunchu slowly lowered his gaze, his heart suddenly racing.
"Found it!" Ming Ya retrieved a heavy photo frame from the very back of the bookshelf and handed it to him. "This is it, but only a side profile is visible. He doesn't seem to like having his picture taken. My parents accidentally took this when taking a photo with other soldiers. At that time, they asked him if he wanted it deleted, but he didn't mind, so my parents took the chance to keep it."
Ruan Yunchu reached out and took the frame and saw a man and a woman smiling in the photo, with dozens of soldiers standing behind them, bearing both major and minor injuries yet smiling. Not far behind them, someone was hurrying past.
Perhaps due to his fast pace, his figure left a faint motion blur in the image. His upright military uniform outlined a tall and athletic silhouette. The military cap was slightly lowered, covering most of his face, revealing only a sharp jawline and a chiseled profile.
"Isn't he handsome?" Ming Ya whispered with a slight infatuation. "After all these years, the Commander has never shown his face in public. Although many say he was injured in the front and his face was scarred, I feel with that kind of aura, he definitely couldn't be ugly."
Ruan Yunchu inexplicably felt a hint of familiarity, comparing that person's build to someone he knew, but he couldn't pinpoint it at the moment.
He slowly put down the frame. "You like him very much?"
"There's probably no one who doesn't admire the Commander, right? His military accomplishments are truly remarkable." Ming Ya's cheeks flushed slightly. "But it's just admiration. The Commander would never like someone with my personality."
"Why?"
Ming Ya hadn't expected him to respond. He explained quite seriously, "After all, he's the First Commander of the interstellar forces. The person standing by his side must also be a high-ranking officer of the Alliance."
In the business world, we emphasize alliances of equals, and it's even more true for the Alliance.
So many people in the Alliance are eyeing the position of Commander with covetous intent. Even just to secure his high position, the Commander would need to find someone who can support him.
Ruan Yunchu understood somewhat. He nodded and asked, "So, the Commander is an alpha, right?"
He thought this was a well-known fact, but to his surprise, Ming Ya showed a hesitant expression.
Even though they were in his own study, he still looked around left and right, as if ensuring no one was eavesdropping, before covering his mouth and leaning close to Ruan Yunchu, lowering his voice.
"I've heard that's probably not true."
Ruan Yunchu frowned slightly, incredulous. "He's not an alpha?"
"The Commander's secondary gender has always been controversial among the high-ranking officials. I've heard this is an S-level classified secret, known only to a handful of people at the rank of general or higher in the entire Alliance."
"So?"
Ming Ya cleared his throat. "Mr. Ruan, do you know about Enigma?"
"Enigma?" Ruan Yunchu's eyes showed rare confusion.
"Yes, it's another high-dimensional secondary gender that evolved beyond our traditional ABO three genders. It surpasses alphas in both physical and intellectual capabilities. It is said that only those who reach the peak of physical fitness before differentiation can undergo a third differentiation."
"Stronger than alphas?" Ruan Yunchu had never heard of this before and found it incredible.
"Yes, Enigma's pheromones are extremely potent, and their mental strength is top-notch. I've heard that they can not only crush an alpha's scent gland directly, but if they want, they can also suppress their pheromones and pass as ordinary people."
