Chapter 13
byChapter 13
No Omega in this world would ever just pull down their collar to show an Alpha—especially not to a young, hot-blooded, top-tier Alpha.
Feeling the Alpha's murderous glare, Dr. Zhao quickly turned his back. He asked the Omega who didn't realize the severity of the situation, "Did you ever take any Omega biology classes back in school?"
"Just the basic stuff in middle and high school," Su Xingze caught on. "So all Omega glands do that? That's wild, isn't it?"
Oh, right—Dr. Zhao remembered. This Omega had amnesia—he had no memory of anything from seventeen to twenty-two. In middle and high school, they covered the differences between Alphas, Betas, and Omegas, how to identify pheromones, and everyday Alpha-Omega products.
But it wasn't until after you presented that they taught more detailed biology based on your secondary gender.
Like how Alphas and Omegas mark glands—temporary marks, permanent marks, knotting, all that stuff.
Lu Xingwen clearly realized that too. But he still couldn't stop staring at that soft pink gland.
"Not all Omega glands do that—only a small percentage," Dr. Zhao said, placing the gland patch on the table. "Have him put it on your gland for you so it doesn't get infected. And when you get the chance, brush up on your college ABO biology."
"Okay." Su Xingze pulled his collar back up, the neckline all wrinkled and stretched out from being yanked.
Even as clueless as he was, he could tell something was off now. The weird vibe, the careful way they were talking—he must have crossed a line, right?
Su Xingze leaned closer to Dr. Zhao and whispered, "I'm not supposed to ask him about his gland, huh?"
Dr. Zhao cleared his throat and whispered even more quietly, "An Omega asking an Alpha about their gland is basically the same as asking about what's down there."
"Oh, oh." Su Xingze looked thoughtful. "So when he licked my gland, that's like licking my—mmph—"
Ignoring the Omega's protests, Dr. Zhao clamped his hand over Su Xingze's mouth without mercy. "Please, just stop talking. Did you seriously never learn any of this growing up?"
Su Xingze pointed at Dr. Zhao's hand to show he'd shut up.
Dr. Zhao finally let him go.
Su Xingze waved his hand helplessly. "My parents are both Betas, and my best friend's an Alpha, but he never talks about this kind of stuff with me. I figured I was a Beta, so I never paid any attention."
Can two Betas even have an Omega kid? A research paper seemed to pop up in his mind, waving its arms at him.
"You two done chatting?" Lu Xingwen stood in front of them, one eyebrow raised in a cold smirk. "Standing that close—you acting like I'm not even here?"
Three people in the room, and he was the one left out. Lu Xingwen finally let his dark side show, fixing a predatory stare on the Omega. Behind his eyes, a savage beast was locked in a steel cage, claws scraping the bars, desperate to get out.
Dr. Zhao noped out of there immediately.
So getting cheated on back then really messed with him—he was way more sensitive than he was at seventeen. Su Xingze tried to calm the angry Alpha down. "How could that be? I was just asking him a couple of questions. You're my best friend, and you always will be."
Lu Xingwen gritted his teeth and said, "Al-ways?"
"Yeah. Don't you wanna be friends with me forever?" Su Xingze looked at Lu Xingwen, and Lu Xingwen looked at Su Xingze.
The world spun, the fluorescent light flickered. Before he knew it, Su Xingze was in Lu Xingwen's arms. Lu Xingwen carefully pressed him down onto the bed, his breath hot against Su Xingze's neck.
Worried about the blood pack behind his childhood friend's head, Lu Xingwen pressed him down by his back.
He grabbed Su Xingze's flailing arms and pinned them above his head with one hand.
Lu Xingwen planted one knee on the hospital bed for leverage, looming over him like a hunting leopard, his breathing getting faster. With his free hand, he patted the struggling childhood friend. "Be good. Don't fight the treatment."
"Who treats someone like this?" Su Xingze huffed, realizing just how much stronger the other man was.
Lu Xingwen grabbed the gland patch and ripped it open with his teeth. "I do."
Even if it was for his own good, being pinned down like this felt super weird. Su Xingze went still. "Let me go. Let's talk about this."
"No deal." Lu Xingwen pulled Su Xingze's collar open. "You interrupted the treatment earlier."
"Xiaolu, I'm kinda scared." Su Xingze's voice was ridiculously soft, almost pleading. "How about this—wait till I'm asleep tonight, then mark me out of nowhere. Do it before I even know what's happening."
Lu Xingwen went quiet for a moment, actually thinking about Su Xingze's idea.
The real reason, though, was that he could never say no to his childhood friend when he was acting all cute like that.
He nodded. "Fine."
"Then let me go, mmph—" A jolt of tingling shot up from his shoulder, even stronger than before. Su Xingze's eyes went wide, and he bit down on the blanket under him.
He protested in a small voice, "Xiaolu, you..."
"Just putting the patch on." Lu Xingwen licked around the spot carefully, didn't tease the childhood friend under him any more, and gently pressed the patch onto the gland.
He explained, "Disinfecting it."
He'd just put his clothes back on and been rubbing around for ages—it really did need disinfecting. Dr. Zhao had left some iodine nearby.
Su Xingze knew iodine would sting, but after hearing Dr. Zhao's explanation and going through all that, he felt like he was about to combust.
"It's gross." He buried his face in the blanket, voice all muffled.
Lu Xingwen stood up and pulled him into a sitting position. He smiled. "Not gross." Sweet.
"Don't you have work to do today?" Su Xingze changed the subject, trying to hide his face, which was red as a peach.
"Then I'll go back to work, and you rest." Lu Xingwen left the room. At the door, he saw the Omega on the bed start to sit up, then quickly flop back down the second he realized Lu Xingwen had turned around.
Su Xingze touched his face—he knew it was red without even having to look.
Lu Xingwen smiled to himself, then asked, "What do you wanna eat later?"
Su Xingze thought about it for a second, then said excitedly, "Mushroom hotpot. I'll come help you later."
Lu Xingwen walked out. "Okay."
Su Xingze let the cool air hit his face for a while until the heat finally went down.
High school seniors get sleepy easily, and a good nap makes all your worries disappear. He'd planned to take a nap and then go find Lu Xingwen.
But when he turned his head, the hospital room door was just... gone.
Su Xingze: ??? Where the hell is my door?
He messaged Dr. Zhao to ask. Dr. Zhao's profile pic was a hand-drawn tuft of grass. His WeChat name was "Ox Horse Grass."
Star Chen: [Dr. Zhao, my hospital room door is gone! Get someone to come fix it.]
Dr. Zhao was in the middle of writing medical records. He stared at the message on his phone, silent for a few seconds.
He figured Lu Xingwen could afford to pay for it, but the door wasn't getting fixed today.
Ox Horse Grass: [Your Alpha kicked the door in to treat you.]
Xingchen: [...]
Niuma Xiaocao: [Even if I call a repairman now, it won't be fixed until tomorrow.]
Xingchen: [I'll just crash at Lu Xingwen's place for the night.]
Dr. Zhao stayed silent.
It felt off, but he couldn't put his finger on why.
It was like someone had set a trap, luring him in step by step, waiting for its prey to enter its territory.
He shivered inexplicably. Alphas these days were really calculating!
