Chapter 46: Fu: Baby, I Miss You So Much
by 糖甜宝贝Chapter 46 Fu: Baby, I've Missed You So Much
After what happened last night, Chi Xingcun avoided Qin Liyi for two days.
During those two days, he stayed in the school dormitory, and in the evenings he went for walks on the track with the class monitor.
Since he had been carefully looked after for over half a month, his speed had improved a lot during that last run three days ago, and he also felt much lighter on his feet.
When he told Qin Liyi over the phone that he wanted to stay at school for two days, he thought Qin Liyi would keep pushing back and refuse to let it go. To his surprise, Qin Liyi went quiet for a moment and then agreed.
Over these few days, the housekeeper kept delivering his meds and meals to school.
Every time he saw the housekeeper, he thought of his parents and the heartbroken look in their eyes that day. But they should still be away on their business trip.
On Thursday afternoon, during a make-up gym class, they ended up with Fu Chenzhan's class again.
Before, Chi Xingcun would either skip gym or get shoved into a corner during it.
But now, he had classmates all around him.
"Xingxing, want to play volleyball later? We need one more."
"Xing'er~ come play badminton, we're short one."
"Short one my ass—can't you see a bunch of people over there who want to play?"
After the teacher called everyone together for announcements, they let the students do whatever they wanted.
A bunch of classmates came over to invite Chi Xingcun to play.
Chi Xingcun covered his mouth and giggled, his big eyes with those thick lashes wide open as he said, "I want to play everything..."
A snow-white angel was standing right there, and everyone wanted to claim him, still bickering with each other.
On the other side of the field, Fu Chenzhan sat on the bleachers, also surrounded by classmates.
A transfer student trying to get in Fu Chenzhan's good graces deliberately whispered in his ear:
"How come your fiancé's gotten so popular all of a sudden?"
A few others who weren't that familiar with Fu Chenzhan also joined in: "I heard he got fifteenth in the grade on this mock exam."
"That impressive, huh?" Someone glanced at the back of Fu Chenzhan's head and blurted out, "Wasn't he supposed to be a total waste?"
"But he's seriously good-looking though."
"Chenzhan, are you really gonna marry him? If you're not..."
Fu Chenzhan reached out, grabbed the guy by the back of his collar, and yanked him off the bleachers onto the ground.
Caught off guard, the guy stumbled and hit the ground.
"Your mouth and your brain are both filthy. Go do something useful to make up for it. If a single ball goes missing on this field today, it's on you."
Fu Chenzhan said this out of nowhere, his voice totally calm.
None of them had any idea what he meant.
The study committee member, who was close with Fu Chenzhan, leaned over to one of them and whispered: "If you don't go pick up balls right now, something bad's gonna happen."
They all heard that.
They still didn't get it, but their feet were already moving on their own, running off.
Fu Chenzhan came across as super smart and level-headed to the public. Only a very, very small handful of people knew what he was really like—a complete psycho.
But that psycho side of his rarely ever showed.
Most of the time, his actions matched what was inside him—completely ruthless.
And there was very little that ever made him need to show that side.
Basically, only people who'd worked with him knew what he was really like underneath.
He'd already made a name for himself in the business world at seventeen, and nobody dared mess with him. Think about it—there's no way someone like that is actually as polite, calm, and elegant as he looks.
Fu Chenzhan stayed where he was, staring at Chi Xingcun. After a long moment, he got up and walked over.
Chi Xingcun was playing badminton.
Maybe because he'd still grow taller. Fu Chenzhan remembered Chi Xingcun saying that when he was fourteen.
As he got close to the badminton court, Fu Chenzhan picked up a shuttlecock that had landed just outside.
Everyone looked over at where the shuttlecock had landed—and saw Fu Chenzhan.
For a second, the whole atmosphere got tense.
Everyone froze, glancing at each other nervously.
Fu Chenzhan walked up to Chi Xingcun, shuttlecock in hand.
"Having a good time today?"
"You've been playing for half an hour. Is your body feeling okay?"
He said all this.
Chi Xingcun didn't answer him.
He held up the shuttlecock, and Chi Xingcun immediately snatched it—but Fu Chenzhan grabbed his wrist.
Fu Chenzhan pulled him closer.
He was a head taller than Chi Xingcun, and he slowly leaned down:
"Baby, I've missed you so much. Wait for me in the club room tonight, okay?"
The club he meant was the art club Chi Xingcun had joined last semester.
Baby... Chi Xingcun's pupils shrank. On instinct, he kicked Fu Chenzhan hard in the shin and tried to run, but his wrist was held too tight, and he had no choice but to turn back.
"You!"
"You need to show up in person to dissolve the engagement."
With that, Fu Chenzhan turned and walked off.
"Fu Chenzhan, do you think you're so tough? Xingxing doesn't like you anymore! Don't come anywhere near him!"
"Do you think you're all that?! It's your loss for not treasuring our Xingxing!"
A few of Chi Xingcun's rabid fans in the class shouted at Fu Chenzhan's back.
After cursing, they remembered that they had once thought he was a simp for liking Xingxing and had ostracized him.
Fu Chenzhan didn't look back, his mind filled with the "Xingxing" they were shouting...
Xingxing...?
Wasn't that the nickname only he used?
.......
When evening classes ended, Chi Xingcun's mind was preoccupied with what Fu Chenzhan had said.
He had to be there to call off the engagement?
"What did he say to you?"
During dinner, the class president asked about it. He had gotten there late and just saw Fu Chenzhan whisper something in Chi Xingcun's ear before leaving.
A few classmates nearby were also curious.
Chi Xingcun looked up: "It's nothing..."
The class president smiled: "I figured you'd say that. I just wanted to tell you not to dwell on it and cheer up."
The classmates nodded too: "Xingxing, since you've decided you don't like him anymore, don't let him bother you."
"...Yeah!" Those words did kind of snap him out of it.
Time to clear the air.
Evening study hall ended at eight o'clock.
Chi Xingcun made his way to the art club.
At this hour, there was basically no one in the club.
When he first enrolled as a freshman, he had enthusiastically signed up for this club and then dragged Fu Chenzhan into joining too.
Fu Chenzhan didn't know how to paint and wasn't interested, but somehow he ended up as the president of the art club.
When the election results came out, members all said it was because he was handsome.
However, the previous president said it was because Fu Chenzhan was smart and had strong management skills.
With Fu Chenzhan as president, Chi Xingcun had the run of the place in the club—he'd know about everything in advance and get whatever he needed.
Because he was always pestering him, Fu Chenzhan had no choice but to give in to all his demands.
Pulling open the curtain of the rest room, Chi Xingcun's eyelids twitched. He hadn't expected Fu Chenzhan to already be there.
