    Chapter 89: Absorption

Wei Ranfeng held out his hand. "This amount."

Boss Wang said, "Master Wei, it's too dark for me to see."

    "One million."

Boss Wang blurted out, "That expensive?!"

Wen Ying was also surprised. Could he earn so much just by getting rid of low-level demons once? Then why bother with the exorcist's earnings when he could simply find a few bosses troubled by low-level demons?

Wei Ranfeng shook his head. "If Boss Wang thinks it's too expensive, then I'll—"

"No, no, no, not at all," Boss Wang said, pretending not to care despite his pain, "As long as Master Wei can get rid of these monsters completely this time, one million is fine!"

Wei Ranfeng replied, "I can't make any guarantees. As I said yesterday, it was drawn by the resentment of your employees. If you're too ruthless, I can't assure anything."

"I didn't do anything that would make them that resentful..."

"Working overtime every day without extra pay, and they deduct salaries at will for no reason." A voice grumbled from the shadows, causing Boss Wang to scream again in fright.

"Don't be afraid, Boss Wang. That's my junior apprentice brother," someone reassured him, stepping out of the darkness.

Boss Wang felt awkward. "Greetings, Junior Apprentice Brother. The more people we have, the better."

"Little Bai, come here and help Boss Wang get rid of that devil."

"Senior Apprentice Brother Wei, my name is not Little Bai. It's Yuanbai," Mo Yuanbai pouted, pretending to be serious as he pulled out a wooden sword and approached the skull, brandishing it at the ordinary low-level devil like using a sledgehammer to crack a nut.

Assuming it was just an ordinary low-level devil, Wei Ranfeng couldn't have summoned something too difficult to handle. To their surprise, the skull suddenly burst with demonic energy, sending Mo Yuanbai flying backward into the furniture, creating a ruckus in the office.

Mo Yuanbai clutched his aching waist as he stood up, stunned. "What's going on?"

Wei Ranfeng's eyes narrowed slightly. The aura of this devil seemed different now.

None of them were aware of the existence of the bead, but Wen Ying did. Sensing a subtle change, he glanced toward the front desk, where another source of demonic energy was stealthily taking over the body of the low-level devil.

Perseus, who had been outside the window by the air conditioner, pricked up its ears as a exorcist entered through the window. Opening its eyes, the cat detected the demonic aura, which carried a hint of the Realm of Demons.

"Give it another try," Wei Ranfeng nodded towards Mo Yuanbai.

Mo Yuanbai grumbled softly and approached with his wooden sword, this time with a more serious demeanor and a cautious stance.

After a few exchanges, their magical powers clashed. To everyone's surprise, Mo Yuanbai was defeated; his magic was propelled back like a cannonball, sending him tumbling and spitting blood.

Reacting swiftly, Wei Ranfeng leaped forward to catch Mo Yuanbai, setting him aside before stepping up himself. With his right hand forming a fist, he condensed magical power within it and struck forcefully, creating a barrier of magic in front of the skull. Surprisingly, Wei Ranfeng's punch only managed to crack the barrier.

"How is that possible?!" Wei Ranfeng's eyes narrowed in disbelief. Though not at full strength, there was no way an ordinary low-level demon could withstand his attack.

He exerted more force, funneling even more magical power into his fist. A visible purple flame danced upon his knuckles as he threw rapid punches, shattering the barrier and sending the skull flying. The skull spun through the air and, after retreating four or five meters, managed to stabilize itself mid-air. It opened its mouth, spewing a dark mass of magical energy towards Wei Ranfeng.

Lying on the table, Wen Ying observed the scene while pondering over the situation. The demonic energy carried the aura of the Netherworld – it was clear to him now that the exorcist they encountered earlier in the afternoon was indeed affiliated with the extremist faction.

"Senior Brother Wei, what's going on here?"

A man and a woman climbed in through the window, catching Wen Ying's attention. Their weak fluctuations of magical power indicated they were inexperienced. In that moment of distraction, Wei Ranfeng inadvertently crashed into the chair where Wen Ying was seated, sending him tumbling off the table. As Wen Ying fell, his bloodied fingertips brushed against Wen Ying's skin.

Wen Ying paused in surprise, then cautiously absorbed a bit, discovering that it was possible. Wei Ranfeng quickly stood up, waving his hands to manipulate the demonic aura.

"Senior Brother Wei, do you need our help?" the girl asked anxiously.

"No need," replied Wei Ranfeng, wiping blood from the corner of his mouth. The demonic aura transformed into a sword in his hand. "Back off, something's not right with this guy."

As the skull's power intensified, Wei Ranfeng grew more focused and cautious. Demonic aura arrows materialized and clashed with the dozen or so skulls conjured by the skull in the office. Each impact sent shockwaves that toppled desks and chairs, causing Boss Wang's heart to ache while he dared not utter a word.

Suddenly, one of the skulls lunged at Boss Wang.

    "Ahhhhhh!"

    "What are you shouting for?"

Mo Yuanbai rushed in front of Boss Wang, swiftly swinging his wooden sword, shattering the skull. However, another skull emerged from the chaos of overturned furniture, biting Mo Yuanbai's hand.

Boss Wang: "Your hand! Your hand!"

Mo Yuanbai's face twisted slightly as the skull bit into his arm, drawing out a stream of blood. Most of it was absorbed by the skull, while some dripped onto the floor. A nearby girl hurried over to help Mo Yuanbai dispel the skull.

As the skull dissipated, the blood it had absorbed from Mo Yuanbai scattered onto the ground. Wen Ying slunk over quietly and absorbed some of Mo Yuanbai's blood that had fallen to the earth.
