Chapter 105 Update
byChapter 105 Update
Xie Qingfeng looked at him: “Come in.”
Jing Xi’s eyes lit up with happiness as he hurriedly agreed, rising but momentarily staggering, having sat too long. He steadied himself quickly.
Xie Qingfeng’s hand, initially poised to help, silently turned and entered first, with Jing Xi following and obediently closing the door and changing shoes.
Xie Qingfeng sat back down and continued eating his noodles without paying him any attention.
Jing Xi hesitated, standing a few steps away before slowly moving to the opposite side. He didn’t dare to sit, just stood there until Xie Qingfeng finished his noodles, then spoke: “I was worried you were upset and not breathing well, so I came to apologize.”
Xie Qingfeng didn’t look up, quietly sitting: “What are you apologizing for?”
Jing Xi, after squatting at the door for hours, had time to think things through. Since he couldn't remember, he had to face it head-on: “I might have done something inappropriate last night after getting drunk…”
Xie Qingfeng, with eyes downcast, remained silent.
Jing Xi took a deep breath, attempting a first probe: “How about you do back to me what I did to you last night? I promise I won’t resist.”
As he spoke, he began unbuttoning his shirt.
Xie Qingfeng felt a tingling sensation on his scalp and looked up sharply: “Are you sick?”
Jing Xi paused in unbuttoning, looking innocently at him: “I meant for you to bite me back.” He pointed to his own collar.
Xie Qingfeng quickly covered his shirt front. After his shower, he felt hot and, being alone in the room, had left the top button of his shirt undone.
He had forgotten to button it up after realizing Jing Xi was at the door.
Jing Xi internally breathed a sigh of relief, realizing he hadn't done anything too extreme to the national master while drunk.
At the same time, he tensed up, knowing the red mark on the national master’s collarbone was undoubtedly his doing.
He wasn’t sure if the mark was accidental or a result of biting.
Xie Qingfeng frowned, not wanting to explain, but Jing Xi’s look clearly showed he misunderstood: “You’re overthinking it, that’s from your chin hitting me.”
Jing Xi, touching his own chin which was indeed red that morning, wasn’t sure whether to feel relieved or disappointed.
Jing Xi cautiously ventured a second probe, his gaze dropping: “Then can I kiss you back?”
Getting hit without being at fault meant he must have kissed him sneakily last night and succeeded!
How frustrating to have no memory of it!
Xie Qingfeng finally understood his intention, laughing in exasperation: “The door is right there, leave if you want.”
Jing Xi behaved himself, placing his hands on his knees in a child-like posture: “I’m sorry… I genuinely don’t remember what I did wrong last night. But I know I must have offended you, national master. I’m sorry, you can punish me however you like.”
Xie Qingfeng’s expression stiffened, especially uncomfortable recalling last night’s events, made worse by the fact that Jing Xi’s actions were unconscious, driven by drunken impulse…
It would be awkward to confront him about the bill.
Xie Qingfeng stood up decisively: “You’re overthinking it. Nothing happened last night.”
Jing Xi looked up at him eagerly, attempting a rebuttal: “National Teacher, look at this bruise on my forehead, even it doesn’t believe that.”
Xie Qingfeng put an end to it: “Believe it or not, it’s up to you.”
Jing Xi hurriedly said: “Believe, believe, of course I believe. Whatever the National Teacher says is true. Can I stay overnight then?”
It seemed that the matter was really not going to be pursued. He would be crazy to dig his own grave.
He didn’t dare to ask further.
But he couldn’t shake the feeling that he must have done something last night that wasn’t suitable to discuss.
What exactly it was, probably only the National Teacher in front of him and himself from last night knew.
Xie Qingfeng hummed in response, standing up and intentionally avoiding looking at the person opposite, leaving behind a remark about there still being noodles in the pot before hastily returning to his room.
Jing Xi gazed thoughtfully at Xie Qingfeng’s retreating back, wondering what he really did last night.
Jing Xi absentmindedly ate the noodles cooked by the National Teacher, tidied up properly, and returned to his guest room. Lying in bed after washing up, he kept pondering what good deeds he had done while drunk.
Maybe due to his strong fixation, Jing Xi fell asleep and had an exceptionally sweet dream.
In his dream, Jing Xi saw himself clutching a bottle of red wine, pouring glass after glass for himself.
After getting drunk, he acted like a fool, clinging to the National Teacher's legs, refusing to let go, and foolishly playing the part of a big dog, looking up and calling him 'brother'.
He kept repeating 'good brother' and 'woof woof', acting both silly and dumb, a sight too embarrassing to watch.
The scene shifted and he actually became a silly dog, wagging his tail and knocking the National Teacher over.
Not just tackling, but also recklessly licking the National Teacher's face, then changing back into a human, whimpering and begging for kisses.
In the dream, the National Teacher was exceptionally patient, even smiling at him. He really kissed him, and not just that, he was playfully touching him all over.
When Jing Xi woke up, it was already slightly bright outside. Lying there, he slowly recalled the dream, feeling his face heat up.
Especially realizing his own condition, he hurried to the bathroom while the National Teacher, having gone to bed late, was still asleep.
Xie Qingfeng had not slept well for two consecutive days and, unusually for him, slept in that morning.
He woke up after eight o’clock, with no classes for the first period, so he wasn't in a rush.
He lay in bed for a while and then removed the sound barrier, faintly hearing some noise outside.
He got up to go to the master bedroom's bathroom to wash up, noticing that the toothpaste was gone, with the spare one in the communal bathroom outside.
Xie Qingfeng usually used his own bathroom, leaving the communal one for Jing Xi.
He opened the door to get the spare toothpaste, and upon reaching the bathroom, noticed that it was occupied with the lights on.
Xie Qingfeng waited for a while, only hearing the sound of water as if someone was washing clothes inside. He found it odd: "Why wash clothes so early in the morning?"
Considering Jing Xi came back last night without luggage, he must have returned on short notice.
But aren’t there spare clothes at home?
Xie Qingfeng stood at the door for two minutes and the person inside didn’t come out, so he decided to go back and shower first. When he finished, Jing Xi was still in the bathroom.
Xie Qingfeng, pressed for time, knocked on the door: “What are you washing? Let me just grab a spare toothpaste.”
There was a moment of silence inside, then a muffled “Okay.”
But instead of opening the door, Jing Xi opened a crack and reached out with the toothpaste.
Xie Qingfeng: ??
In a hurry to use it and not bothering to argue, he took the toothpaste and, before leaving, asked, "Is the washing machine broken? Why aren't you using it?"
Jing Xi paused while closing the door: "Yes, it's broken. I'll get someone to fix it later."
Xie Qingfeng, hearing his obviously guilty tone, didn't expose him. After brushing his teeth, he greeted and left for school.
Jing Xi only relaxed after hearing the door close.
He looked at the nearly-cleaned sheets in the basin, his ears turning red. He scrubbed them a bit more haphazardly, hurriedly wringing them out after washing.
He had intended to use the washing machine but changed his mind and retrieved them before doing so.
Although he felt sure that Xie Qingfeng wouldn't find out, he still feared being discovered.
He had no choice but to wash them by hand.
Finally clean, Jing Xi was soaked, having no experience with washing large items himself. The small basin made it worse, splashing water all over him.
In a daze, he went out to the balcony to hang them, hoping to dry them before the Grand Master returned. But as it was already winter, relying on sunlight alone wouldn't work.
He would have to use his inner strength to dry them later.
There was no other way; he had to save face.
But as he carried the basin, with clean sheets and a certain private item, through the living room to the balcony, he couldn't shake the feeling that something was amiss.
Glancing over, he saw the Grand Master, who was supposed to have left, sitting in the living room drinking water.
Jing Xi was startled, belatedly realizing something, and hastily hugged the basin to his chest, stammering, "You, you said you went to school, didn't you?"
Xie Qingfeng hadn't thought much of it at first, assuming Jing Xi was feeling unwell and too embarrassed to tell him. Not wanting to barge in, he pretended to leave and waited secretly.
To his surprise, Jing Xi was merely washing clothes, though he did notice they were sheets.
Initially, he truly didn't suspect much, even believing the washing machine was indeed broken.
However, Jing Xi's overcompensating actions shifted his expression from calm and composed to incredulous, staring at Jing Xi, words starting and stopping.
Jing Xi's face flushed, clutching the basin tightly, opening his mouth to explain but choking on his own saliva first: "I, I... you..." finally resigning, "I didn't use the washing machine."
But his final statement sounded so guilty, spreading from his face to his neck, especially with the person of his last night's dream right there.
It took Xie Qingfeng a long while to regain his composure, holding the cup all the while, suddenly gulping down a mouthful, almost choking himself.
When he saw his hand holding the cup, a scene he thought he had forgotten reemerged: "!!"
As if burnt by the glass in his hand, he put it down on the table with a clang.
Jing Xi was startled by this reaction: No, could it be? Did the Grand Master know about his dream last night?
Xie Qingfeng, not looking at Jing Xi, grabbed his backpack and headed out, "I won't come back for lunch!" After saying this, he hurried out like he was being chased.
If only he knew, he would never have stayed to watch; what was there to see? Little did he know that he was the rabbit being waited for!
Jing Xi was left baffled by Xie Qingfeng's actions, wondering why the Grand Master seemed even more embarrassed than him.
Although it was indeed an awkward situation, surely the Grand Master had experienced such things before?
Setting aside the fact that his previous body was already in its twenties, having inhabited this body for so long, full of youthful vigor, he couldn’t possibly remain as pure and uninterested as before, could he?
Jing Xi stood there holding the basin for a long while, eventually narrowing his eyes at the cup on the table in front of him.
Because the Grand Master had put it down with some force, water had splashed out of the cup, and now, glinting in the sunlight, it was hard to see clearly.
Jing Xi replayed the Grand Master's reaction in his mind; he must have “offended” him when he was drunk that night, but it was confirmed that it was neither biting nor kissing.
The Grand Master wasn’t willing to speak about it, but their relationship hadn’t deteriorated to the point of a fallout. It must be something embarrassing that infuriated the Grand Master.
Jing Xi harbored feelings for the Grand Master, and after ruling out several possibilities, there wasn’t much left.
Unless... he glanced down at the two items in the basin he was holding.
Finally realizing something belatedly, his face turned various shades, eventually reddening even to his ears.
Did he really become so shameless when he was drunk?
But the Grand Master's reaction... was it really anger born of embarrassment? Otherwise, why would he brush it off so easily?
If he had been treated that way by someone he disliked, he might have harbored thoughts of retribution. But although the Grand Master was angry, he wasn’t entirely so. It didn't seem like disgust, which could mean... perhaps the Grand Master actually had a favorable impression of him, and he hadn’t even realized it?
This thought made Jing Xi's eyes brighten increasingly, finally wishing he could perform a set of sword techniques to vent the joy in his heart.
"However, this matter requires careful consideration; otherwise, if the Grand Preceptor really ignores him, it would be a loss not worth the risk."
"Today, with nothing to do, Hao Jixin continued to look around for undone tasks, ready to record them and inquire with the master on the weekend."
"Just as he had finished a phone call, his cell phone rang."
