Chapter 265: The Storm Is About to Arise (Part 4)
by 落雪悠莲Chapter 265: The Storm Is About to Arise (Part 4)
"If Han Mojie were not Xian Yi Chishao, perhaps Su Ráo would have heeded your advice and chosen him as her husband. But since Han Mojie is Xian Yi Chishao, he will never be a suitable choice for her."
"Just like with you, it was merely a means to an end, using your love for Ráo Ráo to achieve my goals. From the very beginning, it was all about using you, including Su Ráo's love and her moments of weakness. All this talk of love is nothing but a facade."
Without any lingering sentiment, the redness around her almond-shaped eyes faded away. With a resolute and heartless demeanor, Su Ráo left Yun Ji's room.
Since Yun Ji had already departed, she could no longer delay.
She needed to resolve matters quickly.
She missed home, her grandfather, her father and mother, her uncles and aunts, Uncle Hao, Lady Qin, and Yisu. She missed her elder brothers, the first, second, third, and fourth...
And also her fifth brother.
She wondered if her fifth brother had gotten even darker again.
He had changed so much.
Had Yun Muye and Jin Cousin been tormented by him once more?
Su Wu's efforts to improve himself after returning, training with Yun Muye and Mu Mingjin, were not reported to Su Ráo by the old general. Yun Ji had mentioned it.
It was during the ten-day period when Yun Ji and Su Ráo had agreed to court each other...
When Su Ráo learned that Su Wu had changed because of her arrest, she fell silent for a moment before saying:
"I will bring the head of the person behind it to apologize to Fifth Brother."
At her words, Yun Ji did not say anything more, only squeezing her delicate hand gently before taking her out to stroll through Shanjian Village.
As he had said, he would not interfere in Su Ráo's affairs.
Stepping out of the room, Su Ráo looked up at the misty night sky.
With the arrival of the late night hours, the only bright spot in the sky, the Big Dipper, was obscured by the fog.
The moon, too, was completely hidden within the clouds, disappearing from sight, as the mist enveloped the entire world.
Just like Su Ráo's heart, which had expelled the image of Yue Hua, leaving no room for regret.
The night breeze stirred, and the osmanthus tree in the courtyard outside the house swayed gracefully, its branches rustling in the wind, filling the air with its sweet fragrance.
This particular osmanthus tree was a special variety known as the Four Seasons Osmanthus or Monthly Osmanthus, capable of blooming year-round.
Now being midsummer, it was not the usual flowering season for ordinary osmanthus trees, yet this Four Seasons Osmanthus was in full bloom.
The flowers of the Four Seasons Osmanthus came in pale yellow and light white, similar to Yue Hua.
But the flowers on this tree were pale yellow, like the color of the rising sun.
Tiny clusters adorned the entire tree.
The osmanthus symbolizes eternal companionship, but compared to the osmanthus, she preferred the resilience and loyalty of white plum blossoms.
After a moment of quiet contemplation, Su Ráo returned to her chamber and wrapped herself in her blankets.
She did not leave Qingfeng Pavilion at such a late hour.
Although she had slept for a day and a night, for someone who had never been drunk before, even after drinking sobering soup, the lingering dizziness had not entirely dissipated.
Her mind felt like cotton, soft and lacking energy.
A good night's sleep would help her regain clarity for the next day.
That night, Su Ráo slept soundly, unaffected by Yun Ji's departure and his parting words.
She slept without dreams until morning.
The next morning, dawn broke.
Today's sunrise was not as scorching as the previous days; instead, it resembled the hazy silver moon veiled by a thin layer of mist, now shrouded in a gossamer veil woven by the heavens.
Though the sunrise was no longer dazzling, the air was stiflingly hot, as if she were inside a steaming pot.
Despite the oppressive weather, Su Ráo felt refreshed and invigorated, with no trace of fatigue. Her almond-shaped eyes sparkled with a deep, intense glow.
She got dressed and groomed herself.
Her almond-shaped eyes focused on the serene face reflected in the bronze mirror, and a faint smile played on her lips.
The unsightly scar on her forehead was once again concealed beneath a red plum blossom sticker, enhancing her stunning beauty. Dressed in striking red attire, she exuded confidence and boldness.
For a moment.
Su Ráo picked up the pouch on the dressing table, retrieving the ever-present Xieya Token and the estate token given to her by Xian Yi Chishao in Border State.
Different materials, different tokens, yet both carried a profound sense of depth.
Black, a mysterious color.
Glancing at them briefly, she placed the Xieya Token back into the pouch and tucked it into her chest, while attaching the estate token to her waist.
Su Ráo set off.
"Did Miss Su rest well?"
As she stepped out of the room, Mr. Zhu and Master Huishan approached her.
Immediately, Su RAO’s brows furrowed slightly.
Su RAO was unaware that Mr. ZHU had not left with YUN JI. Seeing him now, she instinctively frowned.
This was an ingrained reaction, a reflex born from her frustration at YUN JI for leaving without Mr. ZHU once again.
"YUN JI has already departed, why is Mr. ZHU still here?"
Her words were laced with confusion, but deep down, she suspected it might have something to do with Emperor YU.
However, Mr. ZHU's response did not align with her assumptions.
The reason Mr. ZHU had not left with YUN JI was because of Master Hui SHAN.
As the saying goes: "Travelling ten thousand miles is better than reading ten thousand books." Mr. ZHU, who had dedicated his life to the pursuit of medical knowledge, had been with YUN JI for over nine years. Now that he was finally out, he wished to travel with Master Hui SHAN, hoping to find other methods to treat YUN JI.
"I see."
Such an explanation, Su RAO did not believe it, not one bit. But since Mr. ZHU had said so, she would not expose him.
The deal between YUN JI and Emperor WEI, whether Mr. ZHU could save Emperor WEI or not, did not affect her plans.
If Mr. ZHU could cure Emperor WEI of his addiction to the elixir poison, it would be even more beneficial for her, as she would not need to reveal her own medical skills.
"Mr. ZHU and Master Hui SHAN are about to embark on a journey, and I must also take my leave. Farewell."
With YUN JI having left Su RAO behind, there was no reason for her to stay. She bid farewell to Mr. ZHU and Master Hui SHAN and prepared to depart Qingfeng Pavilion.
Su RAO’s relationship with Mr. ZHU and Master Hui SHAN was merely a superficial acquaintance due to YUN JI; they were not particularly close, and there was little else to say.
She gave a slight curtsy, paying her respects to Mr. ZHU and Master Hui SHAN with perfect etiquette, far removed from the spoiled demeanor of the ugly Su family girl.
Before such wise and serene individuals, Su RAO saw no need to pretend. They likely knew her true nature but chose not to expose it.
With her farewells, she left first.
"There are countless causes and effects in this world. The beginning of an edge is its end, and the end is the beginning. Cause and effect all lie within the heart."
After Su RAO left, Master Hui SHAN let out a sigh.
Amituofo...
"The pouch I gave to Miss SU, I suspect she has never opened it!"
