    Chapter 125: Assessment

There’s no way Yang Mei would take the eggs back.

While they were pushing back and forth, the rest of the people at the Supply and Marketing Cooperatives were practically buzzing with conversation.

Some were engaged in lively debates, while others were whispering to each other.

"Man, I regret not paying attention. If I’d known this stuff could save someone from the brink of death, I would’ve taken it more seriously."

"Hu Jia, didn’t you used to say that mouth-to-mouth resuscitation was inappropriate? What do you think now? Look at Yang Mei—she saved her mom with what she learned!"

Hu Jia, feeling called out, shot an annoyed glance at the speaker and muttered, "Just lucky, like a blind cat stumbling onto a dead rat."

"Why don’t you get lucky too?"

Hu Jia wanted to punch him. What was he implying? Was he wishing something bad on her family?

"At the time, Sister Su said that the training wasn’t about expecting us to save others, but if something happened, we could at least save our own families."

"I thought it was Director Liu who said that?"

    "Or was it Sister Su?"

"Whoever said it, it’s true! Yang Mei did save her mom."

Director Liu arrived a little late and immediately heard about the situation. Seeing that Su Zhaozhao was still refusing the eggs Yang Mei wanted to give her, he quickly decided, "Xiao Su, go ahead and take them. It’s a gesture of gratitude. If you don’t accept them, Xiao Yang will feel bad. Besides, you deserve it! Haha!"

Director Liu was beaming. This proved that his decision had been the right one.

Thanks to his insistence, their unit became the first to implement ‘First Aid Training.’

If this were reported, the leadership would definitely commend him.

This was an accomplishment worth adding to his resume.

Last week, it was announced that there would be an assessment this week. At noon, Director Liu gathered everyone and announced the top performer of the assessment.

"Comrade Yang Mei is the top performer in this assessment! Any objections?"

No one dared to object. After all, she had actually saved her mother. None of them had managed to save anyone in real life.

The rest of the assessment continued, with Xiao Tang coming in second and Yang Yuanzheng taking third place, both from the Purchasing and Sales Department.

Section Chief Xie couldn’t stop smiling. He was incredibly proud.

Knowing how much everyone loved thermoses, Director Liu, albeit reluctantly, handed out another thermos as a prize.

Second place got a piece of fabric enough to make a shirt.

    Third place received a towel.

Most people regretted not studying harder. Some wished they had for the sake of the prizes, while others realized how valuable this knowledge could be in saving lives.

They should have taken notes during the training.

Someone suggested, "Xiao Su, could you give us another lesson so we can take notes?"

"Sure, Sister Su, please give us another lesson."

Director Liu pointed at them and said, "Now you realize how important this is? When we told you to study, you all shrugged it off and didn't take it seriously."

    Everyone looked pretty sheepish.

Su Zhaozhao thought for a moment and suggested to Director Liu, "Hey, Director, how about I spend the next couple of days putting together a first aid poster? We can post it in the office so everyone can see it and really absorb the information. What do you think?"

Director Liu nodded, "That's a great idea! Let's go with that."

For Su Zhaozhao, writing the first aid poster was a breeze. She could finish 80% of it by pulling from the material she had already prepared.

But she wanted to add some illustrations to make it more engaging and easier to understand. After all, only the office staff had a decent level of literacy.

Most people in the market only had a basic level of literacy.

If the poster turned out well, it could be useful beyond just the Supply and Marketing Cooperatives.

Before heading home, Su Zhaozhao picked up a few large sheets of paper from the office.

"Xiao Nian, can either of you lend me some crayons?"

Both siblings readily handed over their crayons.

Su Zhaozhao borrowed a set of crayons and went back to her room to continue working.

When Gu Heng got home from work, he saw Su Zhaozhao hunched over her desk from the yard.

He quietly approached her from behind, but Su Zhaozhao noticed him right away.

    "You're home."

Gu Heng nodded and leaned down to look, "What are you working on?"

A little figure lying on the ground? And why is the head so big?

Su Zhaozhao hadn't finished yet and covered the paper with her hand, "You'll see when it's done."

Even though the drawing was covered, the text was still visible, and Gu Heng quickly caught on. "You're making a poster?"

"Yeah," Su Zhaozhao said, quickly filling him in on the day's events.

"I'm not doing this for the reward; I just want everyone to really learn first aid instead of forgetting it right after the training."

"When Xiao Mei came to thank me today, I felt a bit awkward thinking about that five-yuan bonus. If I hadn't agreed to the training and waited for Director Liu to bring someone from the hospital, things might have turned out differently..."

"To be honest, I felt a bit awkward about the five-yuan bonus when Xiao Mei thanked me, but I'm glad I agreed to the training. The timing couldn't have been better."

Gu Heng said, "You proposed the training because you wanted to help people. The bonus was just a bonus—you would have done it anyway. No need to feel embarrassed."

He then pulled a bicycle ticket from his pocket and handed it to her. "Next time we have a day off, let's go to the city and pick out a bike."

It was the first time Su Zhaozhao had seen a bicycle ticket, and she examined it curiously with a smile. "Sure, we never picked up those photos from last time. We can grab them when we go."

Since she had gotten a basket of eggs for free that day, Su Zhaozhao made egg pancakes. With more eggs than flour, they were light and fragrant.

After dinner, she got back to work.

After two full days of intense work, Su Zhaozhao finally finished the first aid awareness poster.

    "You drew this...?"

When Director Liu took the poster, he couldn’t believe his eyes.

The two large sheets were packed with detailed explanations and vivid, colorful illustrations that made the key points instantly clear!

Despite its serious nature, the poster had a surprisingly lively and engaging feel.

    **"First Aid Essentials"**

The poster outlined the treatment methods for various emergency situations.

For example, it covered first aid for choking, bleeding, electric shock, and heatstroke, all illustrated with clear diagrams and text.

The second sheet detailed the three steps of CPR, presented in a clear and easy-to-follow format.

Stunned by the quality of her work, Director Liu was momentarily at a loss for words, unsure of how to properly praise Su Zhaozhao.

He thought to himself, *This woman is incredibly talented!*

Putting her in a sales position is really underutilizing her talents.

"Let’s hold off on posting this for now. I’ll take it to the branch office and show it to the leadership."

    Su Zhaozhao blinked. "...Huh?"

Show it to the leadership again?

The last time it was shown to the leadership, we didn’t get any feedback.
