I actually read the novel last, after watching the anime and The Untamed.
Each has its strengths, but the novel comes across more like an outline.
The novel, anime, and TV series combined create the perfect Mo Dao Zu Shi experience.
However, it's unfortunate that none of them delve into how Nie Huaisang discovered that his brother was killed by Jin Guangyao.
The fact that he used Mo Xuanyu's Xianshe is still a bit of a bummer.
