    Chapter 68

Qi Mo was working at the moment, though he wanted to slack off.

But the young master’s conscience wouldn’t let him slack off, so he joined his husband in chopping wood and stripping bark.

Hearing sudden noises in the yard, Qi Mo quickly pushed Huo Liangzhou out to deal with it, then picked up the chubby baby from the bed inside the spatial dimension and emerged.

Huo Liangzhou opened the door—inside the space, he had also heard Third Master Bai’s shout.

“What business do you have with our young master?” Huo Liangzhou looked at the group under the moonlight.

A whole damn crowd had snuck in!

Bai Jiu smiled when he saw Huo Liangzhou. “Major deal. Check this out—this guy here’s planning to kidnap your young master for supplies. You in?”

Huo Liangzhou glanced at the face illuminated by the hurricane lantern. “Chen Feng, I’ve been looking for you for a while. You hid well.”

“What’s going on with you? Transported all the way from Jiangcheng—must’ve been a hell of a trip,” Huo Liangzhou said with a laugh.

At this moment, he was in a good mood.

Bai Jiu flicked his cigarette ash and chuckled. “No way. Transporting him from Jiangcheng would’ve killed me.”

“He came to me for a deal to hit your supplies. We clicked immediately, and I waited till we were in your yard to make my move,” Bai Jiu explained with a grin.

Huo Liangzhou laughed. “As expected of Third Master Bai. Impressive.”

“Name your price for him. What supplies do you want?” Huo Liangzhou asked.

Faced with Third Master Bai’s goodwill, Huo Liangzhou didn’t refuse.

Having one more friend was better than one more enemy, especially when the other party extended kindness first.

Bai Jiu watched as Huo Liangzhou stepped forward and said, “Let’s talk inside.” He turned to his trusted subordinate. “Keep an eye on them. Don’t let them escape—this is a high-value asset.”

Bai Jiu pressed his cigarette butt against Chen Feng’s face, holding it there till it sizzled out.

Chen Feng trembled in pain, his eyes burning red with rage. He never expected Bai Jiu, who had such a good reputation, to betray him like this.

The assistant, Third Master Bai’s right-hand man, nodded immediately. They had gone through so much trouble to get here—no way in hell they’d let him bolt now.

Huo Liangzhou led them into the living room and then the tea room. Despite the large glass windows, the place was soundproof.

Qi Mo carried the chubby baby into the tea room.

Frowning at Bai Jiu under the hurricane lantern, he asked, “Third Master Bai, what brings you to my doorstep?”

“Long time no see, young master. Came looking for you. Chen Feng here wanted to partner with me to rob your supplies. But compared to him, I’ve worked with you more. Besides, when given a choice, I usually side with the good guys,” Third Master Bai said with a smile.

Bai Jiu knew a bit about Huo Liangzhou’s situation—like how he went to Yuncheng in the afternoon but returned the next day.

Under these circumstances, Bai Jiu suspected Huo Liangzhou must’ve unlocked some kind of power.

“Young master, let me cut to the chase. Our past collaborations have been solid. This time, I’m here to trade Chen Feng for some med kits and medicine—name your terms. You must’ve known something was coming, or you wouldn’t have bought medicine from me before,” Third Master Bai said.

Chen Feng had caused the deaths of him and his baby—payback was guaranteed.

“Chen Feng wanted to rob me, so of course you can trade. I’ll give you fifty med kits, fifty boxes of antibiotics, ten boxes of fever meds, and ten bottles of disinfectant solution…” Qi Mo rattled off his offer.

Upon hearing this, Third Master Bai reached for his cigarettes but noticed the chubby baby blinking up at him. He stuffed them back in: "We’ve got enough medicine—we can’t take more back. I’d like to trade for food, like compressed biscuits. What can you spare?"

Qi Mo looked at his husband. Third Master Bai hadn’t brought many people, so hauling food back would be tough.

Huo Liangzhou studied Bai Jiu: "A thousand pounds of rice, five hundred pounds of flour, fifty boxes of biscuits, and fifty crates of drinks. We don’t have compressed biscuits."

"Good deal. I heard you set up a planting base—mind sharing details? I’ve got a lot of people, and this food won’t last. We’ll need to grow our own," Bai Jiu said with a sigh.

Huo Liangzhou didn’t hold back: "I built sealed grow rooms mainly for potatoes. The windows are sealed, rubber lined the doors, and hardly any moisture escapes."

"Will that work?" Bai Jiu sounded doubtful.

Huo Liangzhou chuckled: "By our estimates, it shouldn’t be a problem."

"I even installed seals in the corridors to keep the moisture in," he explained.

Bai Jiu nodded. "I’ll try it when I get back. Till next time. Now, handling those guys—should I do it, or will you?"

"We’ll take your help. Momo, want to come along?" Huo Liangzhou asked the young master beside him.

    Qi Mo nodded immediately: "Yes."

"Alright, let’s go. Get it over with quick—you can head home sooner. In three days, bring your people to Huo Security. I’ll hand over the food," Huo Liangzhou said.

Third Master Bai nodded. Standing up, he was close enough to the young master to quickly pinch the chubby baby’s cheek.

    The texture was absolutely amazing!

The baby, having his cheeks squeezed, widened his big eyes, looking fiercely adorable—as if ready to bite.

"Third Master Bai, don’t pinch him randomly—he bites," Qi Mo warned before hiding behind Huo Liangzhou.

Looking at the fierce little guy, Bai Jiu sighed: "You picked well."

Huo Liangzhou glanced at his young master and ruffled the baby’s head: "You could have one yourself."

Bai Jiu shot him a look: "Don’t even think about it. Pinching someone else’s kid’s enough to satisfy the urge."

"Times like these, having a child isn’t easy, and raising one’s even harder. Who else could raise a baby as well as yours?" Bai Jiu remarked.

Along the way, he’d seen children—either sunburned red-faced, filthy, or skinny from starvation.

But this baby? Pale, pink-cheeked, spotless—and carrying a sweet milky scent. Who wouldn’t love that?

The three stepped outside, where Chen Feng was held by Third Master Bai’s men.

They couldn’t do it in the village—they headed up the mountain instead.

Halfway up, near the pig farm.

Huo Liangzhou studied Chen Feng for a long moment: "I just don’t get it. Why must you all bully my young master? I’ve treated you well—helped whenever I could."

"And the young master? Whatever Qi Huai wanted, he remembered and tried to fulfill. Yet Qi Huai, you, Jiang Nuan—all of you wanted to take a pound of flesh." Huo Liangzhou sighed.

Of course he understood. Give an inch, they take a mile. Greed knows no bounds.

They’d simply been too good to them.

The young master was still too trusting.

Bai Jiu sighed, saying, "People are never satisfied; they can't control their greedy hearts."

Bai Jiu spun around and cursed, "Where'd the young master go? I can't see the two of them. They shouldn't have left."

Huo Liangzhou looked around, his heart trembling slightly. "His Psychic Power? Just kill him."

"Snowball," Huo Liangzhou called out worriedly.

Kitty Snowball hopped from her daddy to her father, rubbing against his chin with a soft "meow."

So the young master had been right beside him, yet he couldn't see, touch, or sense him.

Taking the knife handed by Bai Jiu, Huo Liangzhou said, "Remember to be a good person in your next life. Ruining someone's marriage sends you straight to hell."

The knife stabbed clean through Chen Feng's back and out his chest in one swift motion.

Huo Liangzhou kicked him flying into a large pit in the mountain. Soon after, Chen Feng's subordinates were quickly cut down by Bai Jiu's crew.

Bai Jiu glanced around. "Where'd the young master get to?"

"Relax, he'll pop back any second," Huo Liangzhou replied.

Bai Jiu ordered his men to shovel dirt and bury the bodies before someone hits our base. Half a dozen stood watch while over a dozen shoveled, covering up the corpses in no time.

Qi Mo materialized out of thin air.

"What kinda freaky Power is this? Turns people blind!" Bai Jiu exclaimed.

Looking at the tiny, adorable kitty parked on Huo Liangzhou's shoulder, Bai Jiu couldn't resist. If he couldn't have a chubby kiddo, maybe he could keep a kitty.

"You selling this cat?" Bai Jiu asked, reaching out to pet it.

Kitty Snowball, unlike her helpless chubby baby brother, bounced away before he could blink.

Bai Jiu didn’t even manage to graze a single hair.

Huo Liangzhou shot him a look. "Third Master, quit eyeing her like that. That’s my baby’s spirit beast. You've got Powers now too—you should understand."

Bai Jiu went stiff, face burning. "I—I—awkward. Why'm I always messing with the young master's stuff?"

With the bodies buried, the group headed down the mountain.

Bai Jiu and his men chugged their fill after tossing a water purification tablet into some collected water.

Though they carried supplies, they still had to sip it slow—if they ran dry, they'd be left stealing or dying.

Meanwhile, Qi Mo pulled out all the meds he'd promised earlier from his storage space.

Huo Liangzhou brought out a half-bucket of that white fungus stew. "Have some. Don't knock it for being leftovers."

"Thanks. We'll pass the cup around," Bai Jiu said, scooping with a disposable cup.

Shaking his head, Bai Jiu sighed. "You guys still eat like kings."

Qi Mo called out, "Third Master, come get it. Everything's lined up here."

Outside storage, fifty emergency kits and a pile of medicines were quickly carried out by White Vulture and his assistant.

Soon, twenty people swiftly divided the supplies into backpacks.

Medicines held immense value in the current situation.

Huo Liangzhou escorted White Vulture out of Huo Family Village.

Outside the village, the assistant turned to White Vulture. "Chen Feng said the young master has plenty of supplies."

"Greed will be its own undoing—it gets people killed. Huo Liangzhou is strong, and that cat—I thought it was just a cat, but those claws could kill us in seconds. Remember what we heard earlier today? There's a demon cat in Huo Family Village that gouges out eyeballs. I'd say that's the one. Anyone who values their eyeballs should stay clear," White Vulture warned.

Silence immediately fell over the group.

Qi Mo lay curled in Huo Liangzhou's arms, completely drained of energy.

Huo Liangzhou gently stroked the young master’s back. “I never expected the Psychic Power that harmed you in your past life actually belonged to Chen Feng.”

“I didn’t expect it either. All these years, I’ve done nothing wrong to him. How much money did he take from me? And still he betrayed me. He was truly wicked,” Qi Mo fumed.

“They were all backstabbing ingrates,” Huo Liangzhou murmured against the young master's ear with a low chuckle. “Shall we celebrate finally getting rid of that scoundrel?”

His warm breath brushed Qi Mo’s ear, sending electric jolts through his body...

“You bastard, stop teasing me!” Qi Mo growled as he pounced on him, playfully nipping at the man’s Adam’s apple.

Snowball, the sleepy white kitten, suddenly jolted wide awake. Yikes! Scram! Get out now!

Qiuqiu, the lazy golden kitten, bolted out instantly, setting off a mad scramble. The chubby baby got hauled away by his two younger brothers.

Watching the three little ones scatter like startled rabbits, Huo Liangzhou smiled—this was the good life.

At the moment of Chen Feng’s death, Qi Huai clutched his head as a flood of broken memories surged through his mind. After an indeterminate amount of time, he stood up and broke into hysterical laughter...

He laughed for an eternity before finally caressing his hands. Good, he was healed at last.

    The gods had chosen him!

He was now the Chosen of the Gods!

I’m confused, is the youngest male or female?
