Chapter 46
by 苏九影Chapter 46
When they reached the candy and snacks aisle, Wen Cishu let their little monkey pick two affordable treats.
"Papa, you pick one too."
Bo Yi Ming tugged at his sleeve. "I’ll only get one."
Naturally, Wen Cishu didn’t refuse his son’s kindness. He chose a small box of sea salt mints.
Before heading to checkout, he double-checked the total on his phone to make sure they wouldn’t go over the 300 yuan in cash provided by the show.
Mostly it was fruits and vegetables. The bulkier items that Bo Yi Ming liked had already been grabbed by Bo Tingyuan from further back.
Once confirmed, Wen Cishu said, "Alright, Yi Ming buddy, get the cash ready—we’re going to pay."
In an instant, Bo Yi Ming looked up in confusion, glancing at Papa, then at Big Dad standing slightly behind him, his gaze shifting back and forth.
The dread in his eyes was as clear as a dark cloud suddenly drifting across the sky.
"Uh-oh! Did Ming Zai forget to bring the money? That look is equal parts cool, adorable, and tragic—hilarious!"
"I thought this supermarket trip was going smoothly, but here comes a little hitch right at the end!"
Bo Yi Ming stepped forward, burying his face in Papa’s arms and clinging to his arm, whining, "Mommy..."
Wen Cishu had a rough guess of what happened and patted his head gently, saying, "Did you forget to bring it?"
The little monkey nodded silently.
He looked as sad as a hamster who dropped its snack.
Wen Cishu reassured him with a smile, "It’s okay, we’ll figure something out."
Bo Yi Ming reacted quickly, lifting his head to ask, "Should we ask the show’s staff if we can use our own money first? Or should I take the bus back to get it?"
Wen Cishu was about to say he’d contact the crew himself, but out of the corner of his eye, he noticed Bo Tingyuan raising a hand to signal that he’d handle it.
He told his son, "Let’s ask the cameraman to call them for us."
"Huh?" Bo Yi Ming quickly turned his head and saw Big Dad already speaking to an assistant behind him.
Soon, the assistant made a call. Not long after, he returned with the cash.
When Bo Tingyuan handed it over, he casually ruffled his son’s hair.
"Eep~" Bo Yi Ming took it guiltily, not even dodging like he usually would.
"Dang~ Big Dad’s on it! Solved the problem without a peep!"
"Ming Zai’s being real mature here—he didn’t just whine but actually thought of solutions too."
"Mommy, at least scold the kid a little! You can’t spoil him like this! Pamper me instead!"
"Big Dad seems to dote on his son too, always giving Ming Zai those head pats."
Since they were paying in cash, the father-son pair couldn’t use the self-checkout.
The cashiers included some who had seen their previous shows, and others who had seen the viral gossip about Ming Zai and his dads online—but none had expected them to show up right in front of them today.
The moment they entered the supermarket, nearly every employee in the store instantly noticed.
As Wen Cishu and Bao Yiming approached, the staff straightened their postures, trying to look professional, but secretly hoped the pair would come to their register.
When Wen Cishu pushed the cart to a checkout counter, he noticed the cashier smiling at him—way too enthusiastic—so he quickly returned the smile.
The cashier, upon seeing this, even lowered her head to suppress her excitement.
She thought to herself: Yiming’s young dad was far more handsome in person than on the show—just one glance knocked her socks off.
But when she looked up and saw the masked man dressed in black behind him, her smile faltered slightly, like she’d been frozen by his imposing brows and intense aura.
Only then did she notice that this cameraman had unusually green eyes.
Was her eyes playing tricks?
The cashier efficiently scanned the items while sneaking another glance.
Indeed, they were green eyes.
Is he mixed?
It finally dawned on her—this was actually Ming Zai’s older dad in person?!
As Wen Cishu reached for the shopping bags, Bao Tingyuan cut in front of his son.
“I’ll do it,” he said, lifting the bags himself.
The cashier heard it clearly and couldn’t resist sneaking another peek at the couple:
Such a deep voice! Such a gentle tone! And they look perfect together—the height difference, the build difference!
They were standing so close, the visual impact overwhelming, making her completely overlook Bao Yiming beside them.
The audience, of course, also heard this unexpected voice—the live chat exploded with reactions.
“That’s definitely Daddy’s voice, right? Hehehe… who knew he’d sound this hot?”
“Such a mature voice paired with Dad’s incredibly gentle tone—I’m gonna ship them so hard, uwu~”
“Daddy, why just hold the shopping bags? Just hold Dad’s hand already!”
“Let Ming Zai carry the bags—as punishment for his little mistake earlier.”
“Agreed, make Ming Zai film too. Let him walk behind carrying stuff while the two dads hold hands.”
“Ming Zai: Do you hear how crazy you sound?”
As the wind hit his face upon stepping out of the supermarket, Wen Cishu realized what a special little moment this was.
If they hadn’t joined the show or been given small tasks by the program, their family of three might never have thought to make a fun trip to the supermarket together.
Wen Cishu drew Yiming closer. “So? Did you have fun in the supermarket?”
Unlike his young dad’s cheerful expression, Bao Yiming shook his head.
“Couldn’t buy anything I wanted. Not fun.”
Wen Cishu chuckled quietly and nodded toward the items the assistants and bodyguards were carrying nearby.
"Oh!"
Bao Yiming had just gone through the little incident of "forgetting to bring money," which made him forget that his dad had already paid for everything.
His expression immediately brightened from cloudy to sunny, and he raised an arm, shouting, "I announce that the supermarket is super fun!"
Wen Cishu chuckled softly—kids these days! So easily pleased.
Uncle Liu, seeing the young master carrying the bags, hurried out of the car to help, going to put them in the trunk.
Meanwhile, Bao Tingyuan opened the car door and ushered the father and son inside.
As Bao Yiming walked up to his dad, he tiptoed and leaned toward the camera, asking, "Will it not be the photog—I mean, will Uncle Photographer stop filming us soon?"
Bao Tingyuan pressed a hand on his shoulder and guided him into the car.
"Hey!" Bao Yiming huffed in fake annoyance. His dad was really something—he must have thought he was blocking his other dad!
Despite his grumbling, he scooted all the way to the far side to make room for his other dad.
When Wen Cishu got into the car, he was especially close to the camera.
The wind tousled his black hair, and with his mask now removed, he wore a gentle, heart-stopping smile.
He said softly, "Thank you for your hard work, Mr. Photographer."
Just as the audience was gasping over the scene, the feed suddenly cut out.
By the car, Bao Tingyuan briefly clasped Wen Cishu's hand.
Only then did Wen Cishu realize that Bao Tingyuan had already taken off his left glove at some point.
As their palms touched, Wen Cishu slipped him something he'd prepared.
Bao Tingyuan raised a brow slightly—it was a small, round sea-salt mint candy.
Once Wen Cishu quickly got into the car, Bao Tingyuan lowered his gaze to his palm.
Wrapped in colorful candy paper was a tiny, round sea-salt mint candy, adorable and smooth.
When the audience saw the father and son again, the car was already moving.
-
"Huh? What happened to the part where my wife smiled?"
"Dang, I thought my connection dropped! So annoying!"
"How could they do this?! They must be hiding something, right?"
"If Dad dares to cut the livestream in broad daylight, won’t he bully our gorgeous one to death at night? Ah! Ming Zai, quick, bring your other dad to my place!"
Back at the mansion.
Uncle Xu helped carry the groceries into the kitchen and asked, "Little Master, are you really going to cook steak for your dad?"
"Huh? Uncle Xu, how did you know?" Bao Yiming was surprised.
Uncle Xu explained that he had been watching the livestream and had seen their supermarket trip.
Wen Cishu was quite at ease as he unpacked items from the shopping bag. "Let Yiming try. It'll be fine."
Uncle Xu thought to himself that perhaps he should contact the two doctors today, just to have them on standby.
Just in case something happens when the master eats the steak prepared by the young master.
Bao Yiming said, "Uncle Xu, if you're worried, you can watch from the side, right?"
He nudged the person beside him. "Dad, you should go rest. You must be really tired, right?" When he looked up, his shining eyes were filled with unmistakable concern.
Wen Cishu couldn't resist pinching his cheek. "I am a little tired. How about I go to your room and figure out the tent setup for you?"
"Okay!" Bao Yiming happily hugged his dad. "Auntie Zhong, come quickly and take my dad to rest."
Auntie Zhong had been waiting outside the door, ready at any moment.
"Aha! So it was Daddy who helped cheat by buying the tent! Busted them all!"
"The camera briefly showed the price of that kids' tent—just a random supermarket item, yet it costs thousands!"
"Someone on Little Yam said that supermarket operates on a membership system with a minimum monthly spending of over 10,000. But when Mingzai and the others went, no one stopped them. Judging by Papa's reaction, he clearly had no idea."
"I see. So the show arranged it in advance, right?"
"Doesn't look that way. More like Mingzai's daddy made quick arrangements before they left."
As Wen Cishu went upstairs, fans were worried they wouldn’t be able to see both father and son at the same time.
Fortunately, the production team had backup cameras for when guests split up.
In the living room, Wen Cishu set up the camera at a good angle before opening the tent box already placed on the carpet.
He was indeed worn out from walking. After finding the instruction manual, he sat by the sofa to go through it.
Auntie Zhong placed a plate of cut fruit on the coffee table and quickly stepped back.
Wen Cishu picked up a fruit fork and took a bite, smiling at the viewers beyond the camera. "Not much going on here. You can go watch Yiming instead."
"No way, I wanna see hubby~"
"You can watch both! It’s not a problem, Papa~"
"Daddy just disappeared like that? Shouldn’t he be helping hubby set up the tent for the little one? Such a heartwarming moment!"
At this point, the production team issued a notice reminding viewers that there were only half a day left to submit questions for the guests.
Selected questions would be answered by the guests live on camera.
"Who’s asking? The kid and parent asking each other? Or will the other parent act as the questioner?"
"If Mingzai's daddy asks on our behalf, I’m gonna slip in some questions to make Papa blush…"
"That’s a great idea! Production team, make it happen!!"
