Chapter 51
by 苏九影Chapter 51
When Wen Cishu hurried into the tent, Bao Yiming had already answered all the questions.
The two of them—one big, one small—locked eyes, both looking a bit sheepish.
"Mommy, you're finally back! Where did you go just now?"
"Hmm? I sense something's up~ Why does babe still look a little flushed?"
Wen Cishu and Bao Tingyuan returned to their previous seats.
Bao Tingyuan was still filming the father-son duo. He glanced at the show’s task card and asked, "Yi Ming, you’ve already opened and answered these?"
His deep, commanding voice made Bao Yiming edge closer to his little daddy, tightly hugging his arm while leaning back as if to hide.
"Mmm..."
Wen Cishu messed up the little monkey’s hair. "You answered all of them?"
"They were just questions about me and little daddy, so of course I did!"
Bao Yiming quickly snatched the task card and handed it over. "Little daddy, look."
Wen Cishu scanned it—indeed, they were all parent-child questions, some even asking about the child’s hobbies.
But when he reached the second question, his eyes went wide with disbelief.
—The audience never asked about "first impressions" at all!
He recalled how Bao Tingyuan had deliberately "interrogated" him earlier and suddenly gritted his teeth in irritation. Even if that kiss had been sudden and sweet, it didn’t make up for it.
However, they were still live on camera. Wen Cishu calmly placed the task card back and reached out to return it, though his gaze avoided Bao Tingyuan, instead landing on his son beside him. "Yi Ming, since the Q&A is over, let’s let big daddy go handle his work, okay? He still has a lot to take care of."
As he spoke, his fingers were grazed by Bao Tingyuan, making the latter half of his sentence sound slightly strained.
Bao Yiming turned to look at his big daddy. "Huh?"
Though he could have fun without big daddy around, having him there meant one more person to play with.
"Big daddy, are you really that busy? Can’t you stay and record a little longer with us?"
Bao Tingyuan pushed up his glasses, his gaze shifting to Wen Cishu.
Unconsciously, Wen Cishu couldn't help staring at those glasses again, as if transported back to the moment in the restroom when he’d removed them—and how Bao Tingyuan’s eyes had seemed to linger on his lips.
He instinctively pressed his soft lips together, pretending to be casual as he brushed back a loose strand of hair behind his shoulder.
"Babe looks so shy and soft again~ Looks so kissable~"
"Big daddy, come on, say yes! Don’t leave!"
Bao Tingyuan’s gaze slid over the tiny mole on the snow-white skin of Wen Cishu’s neck before landing on his expectant son. "Hmm, I’ll take care of work later."
"Yay!"
Bao Yiming threw his arms up excitedly. "Little daddy, viewers were asking about the farm earlier. Can we have dinner there tonight? I haven’t been back since we signed the paperwork."
He burrowed into his little daddy’s arms, nuzzling and pleading, "Little daddy~~~" He wheedled, drawing out the last words playfully.
Wen Cishu rubbed the back of Bao Yiming’s head, then slid his hand down to gently squeeze his nape, teasing with a smile, “Mommy we love seeing Ming Zai be all cute with you!”
Bao Yiming didn’t care at all, wriggling around childishly.
“New viewer here—what’s the deal with the farm? Can someone explain?”
Fans in chat quickly explained the farm from episode one and the moment from episode two where Ming Zai said he wanted to buy it.
“? I saw the first episode—that farm is huge, right? And he just casually talks about buying it?”
“I even hesitate before buying a farm in a game! Ughhh I’m so jealous!”
Bao Tingyuan, of course, didn’t disappoint his son, saying he’d just change his jacket before heading out.
“Yay!” Bao Yiming bounced excitedly out of the tent to change.
Wen Cishu slowly stood up, deliberately avoiding Bao Tingyuan’s outstretched hand.
His upturned eyes, clear and bright, showed every little emotion with just a slight shift in his gaze.
Yet Bao Tingyuan still yanked him close by the waist and held his slender hand tightly.
Wen Cishu couldn’t pull away, so he let himself be led outside.
The camera quality was great, and viewers immediately noticed the subtle tension.
“Did Daddy make Mommy mad? He looks a little angry—did they argue after leaving the tent?”
“Mommy seemed kinda weird when he saw the task card questions. I checked the official show account—the audience never asked about first impressions. Dad added that himself!”
“Wait, really? I missed that moment! (Aaaah I need that clip! Can the show upload it now?)”
“Ming Zai’s dad is so shady! No wonder Mommy’s pissed.”
“Poor Mommy—come here baby, let me love you right. Ditch that jerk and marry me instead, okay?”
To make filming easier, Bao Tingyuan arranged for the family driver to bring a van.
-
The second-row seats could rotate 180 degrees so they could face each other with the third row.
Originally, Wen Cishu wanted to sit in the second row with his son, but before he could settle in, Bao Tingyuan guided him by the waist to the third row instead.
Bao Yiming wound up facing them in the second row. When he noticed the camera on Bao Tingyuan’s chest, he leaned in and waved excitedly, “Now the viewers can see me the whole time, right?”
He turned his head left and right, proudly showing off his face. “Don’t I look amazing?”
Viewers could only catch glimpses of Ming Zai’s mommy on Bao Tingyuan’s left side when he turned slightly.
“Big regrets—Dad, maybe you shouldn’t have come! You’re blocking our view of Mommy.”
“Ming Zai, you are handsome, but could you do your fans a solid and grab the camera for a good shot of both your dads?”
At that moment, Wen Cishu was still holding Bao Tingyuan’s hand.
He retaliated by digging his fingernail into his palm.
—That’s for adding fake questions!
As a result, his fingers were pushed apart firmly, and Bao Tingyuan's long fingers slipped between his to clasp them tightly.
He glanced sideways at the faintly visible veins on the back of his hand and playfully dragged his fingertips over them twice.
However, when his eyes met Bao Tingyuan’s unreadable gaze, he guiltily looked away, pretending to look at the scenery outside the window.
-
The farm was located in the suburbs.
By the time they arrived, it was already dusk.
Wen Cishu stepped out into the evening breeze and tilted his head up, catching sight of a silver crescent moon shaped like a hook.
Someone draped a thin blanket over his shoulders.
"Don’t catch a cold," Bao Tingyuan reminded him, giving his hand another squeeze to check its warmth.
"Daddy Ming Zai’s voice is so sexy! I say, this isn’t a dad—it’s a daddy!"
"Not at all! When Daddy talks to Ming Zai, he sounds so cold and stern. Only when he speaks to Mommy does he sound sexy. It’s so weird."
Bao Yiming, who had jumped out of the car first, was already running toward the farm gate. Seeing the lights inside, he asked curiously, "Huh? Why are there people inside?"
Not just him—the audience was also curious, wondering if something unexpected had happened.
But the next moment, when Uncle Xu came out from the farm and waved at them, Bao Yiming immediately beamed and bounced excitedly, waving back. "Wow, Grandpa Xu! How did you get here first?"
Uncle Xu opened the gate and said softly, "The master asked us to come early to prepare."
"So it was a surprise. Daddy didn't say a word about it on the way."
Bao Yiming dashed inside, heading straight for the chicken coop. "Wow, the rooster’s still here! Daddy is the best!"
He waved at the chicken standing in the corner. "Hello! Do you remember me? It’s me, Yi Ming~ Last time, I caught your little duck friend!"
"I thought it was just buying an empty farm, but they actually bought everything along with it and even had Butler Grandpa prepare dinner in advance? Daddy must really love his son!"
"Hey dads, do you adopt kids? Sign me up!"
The previously peaceful chicken coop erupted into loud clucking as soon as Bao Yiming shouted excitedly.
He turned and waved at his two fathers. "Daddy, haven’t you ever seen a live chicken before? Come quick!"
Wen Cishu, still holding Bao Tingyuan’s hand, couldn’t suppress a laugh at his son’s words. But when Bao Tingyuan’s gaze swept over him, he bit his lip, trying to hide his smile.
He pulled his hand free, curling his fingers into a fist like in Tai Chi, then gave Bao Tingyuan’s arm a light punch—then landed a hit and ran.
The childish Wen Cishu bounded away and bounced over to his son. "Let me see, have you gotten any bigger since the first episode? Are you big enough to turn you into soup yet?"
Bao Yiming turned to his little father in disbelief. "...Little Dad, does it have to be soup?"
Wen Cishu couldn’t help but grin and poked the little monkey’s adorable cheek. "We could always braise you too."
Bao Yiming: -_-
Behind the father and son, Bao Tingyuan’s eyes and the camera in front of him captured this beautiful moonlit scene—relaxed and full of warmth and love.
"Ugh, so annoying! Don’t kill me with family love!"
"It's been so long since I've seen such a heartwarming family reality show—it makes me want to join their family!"
In the courtyard, an outdoor grill had already been set up in advance, and the chef had prepared ingredients suitable for the whole family to barbecue.
On the small table were vegetables, fruits, freshly squeezed juice, and more—creating a scene reminiscent of a camping-style outdoor barbecue.
Bao Yiming propped his hands on the edge of the table, cupping his cheeks as he grinned so wide he looked almost silly with joy.
Wen Cishu slid some juice toward him. "Why so quiet suddenly?"
Bao Yiming held the juice cup with both hands, pouting adorably. "Papa~ Last time, I just casually mentioned wanting to eat the barbecue Brother Xingxing had, and Dad actually remembered! I’d even forgotten myself."
Bao Tingyuan said calmly, "It was Uncle Xu who remembered."
"Huh?"
At first, Bao Yiming thought that was the case, but he quickly realized—he had said it in the car on the way home, and Uncle Xu hadn’t even been there.
"Hmph~ Dad, don’t even try to trick me."
He took a sip of juice and sprang up to start grilling. Seeing his little daddy about to stand, he said, "Papa, you and Dad just sit. I’ll do the grilling—I know how!"
Wen Cishu still looked concerned, but his wrist was caught by Bao Tingyuan.
He looked down at him. "Hm?"
"Dad, what are you doing?"
"Wow, the size difference is striking—his palm can completely wrap around Mommy’s slender wrist."
"This scene is so perfect for a painting (you know, the *naughty* kind—any sisters get me?)"
Bao Tingyuan leaned back leisurely in the outdoor chair, gazing up at his moon-bright face, and said softly, "Let Yiming have his fun."
He gently pulled Wen Cishu back into the chair by his wrist, then casually set the camera down on the table.
The lens focused on Bao Yiming’s back, showing viewers him humming cheerfully as he placed meat slices and vegetables on the grill.
Wen Cishu still seemed uneasy, his gaze fixed on their lively boy in sync with the camera.
Only when the hair at his temple was lightly brushed behind his ear did he slowly turn to the person beside him with a questioning look, silently signaling: *We're still mic'd—what are you doing?*
In the courtyard, with their son still bustling around, Bao Tingyuan naturally wasn't planning anything. It was just an unconscious urge to touch him. But seeing the playful spark in his eyes, his hand moved uncontrollably to cup Wen Cishu’s chin instead.
Wen Cishu’s eyes grew round gradually. Taking a sharp breath, he quickly raised his hand to cover Bao Tingyuan’s lips.
Under the night sky, amusement danced in Bao Tingyuan’s dark green eyes before he turned his gaze to their busy boy.
He naturally pulled Wen Cishu’s hand down, twining their fingers together, then lifted it back up to press against his own lips.
Wen Cishu forced himself not to look at his face, instead focusing on their cheerful son—but he couldn’t ignore the tingling sensation of Bao Tingyuan’s lips brushing against his hand.
That small patch of skin, under the lingering caress, went from warm to burning.
Wen Cishu pressed his dry lips together tightly. His other hand, which had been resting idly on the chair, now clutched the armrest until his fingertips and knuckles turned white.
—As if Bao Tingyuan’s lips weren’t just grazing his hand, but his own lips instead.
