Chapter 6
byChapter 6
Lu Yunyan knew An Nuo was obedient, but he never expected him to be this compliant.
When he asked to see An Nuo’s scent gland, Lu Yunyan was fully aware of how excessive the request was—driven by a momentary impulse, he had already braced himself for rejection.
To his surprise, An Nuo actually accepted his reasoning without questioning it, unbuttoning his shirt to reveal the scent gland beneath his collarbone.
Was this a place that could be shown so casually?
The sweet scent of peach pheromones, the omega’s pale, soft skin.
With a lowered gaze, Lu Yunyan could see An Nuo’s long, thick lashes, his lips slightly pursed, shy and nervous, yet trying hard to appear calm and composed.
There wasn’t a hint of deliberate seduction.
Yet it was more alluring than any seduction.
The little wife in his arms was clearly nervous.
But it only made Lu Yunyan want to tease him even more.
And this was just how he was when his scent gland was not working properly, without the influence of a heat… If he were to regain his heat, it’s hard to imagine what it would be like…
At that moment, Lu Yunyan thought, quite unreasonably, that if An Nuo were a cat, he absolutely could not be a stray.
He was timid, vulnerable, pitifully innocent.
How could he survive alone on his own?
He would surely be bullied by other strays, probably struggling even to find water and food.
An Nuo was the kind of kitten meant to be a pampered house pet, cherished and cared for by an owner.
Lu Yunyan felt an uncontrollable urge to kiss him.
On one hand, An Nuo was utterly endearing, with a natural allure.
On the other hand, it was the lure of pheromones—the innate fascination an alpha has for an omega, especially since An Nuo’s pheromones were unique. Just a whiff could calm Lu Yunyan’s mind and ease the discomfort caused by his pheromone dysregulation.
Unable to wait patiently for a response, Lu Yunyan reached out, cupped An Nuo’s chin, and kissed him.
…
An Nuo’s entire body stiffened.
Although they were already close, with him curled up completely in Lu Yunyan’s embrace.
Although he had long felt the firmness of Lu Yunyan’s arms, the heat of his embrace, and even his scent gland tingling with a hint of awakening.
But when their lips actually met, the feeling was completely different.
Every cell in his body seemed to be stimulated at the same moment, his blood flowing faster beneath his skin, his breath becoming shallow, and his body temperature gradually rising.
Nervous, afraid.
But not repulsed.
If An Nuo truly couldn’t accept it, his genes would have made the choice for him, and his body would have shown signs of rejection—even if he couldn’t vomit all over Lu Yunyan, he would’ve gagged a few times.
But An Nuo felt no rejection at all.
Completely surrounded by Lu Yunyan’s scent and warmth, he could only think, inexplicably, so this is how it feels to kiss an alpha—
His mind went blank, oxygen grew scarce, and even the air seemed to freeze.
It wasn’t until they parted, and the cool air hit his lips, allowing him to breathe again, that An Nuo’s rationality returned.
They kissed.
They really kissed.
He and Lu Yunyan had just kissed.
But before he could express any reaction, after a breath, Lu Yunyan kissed him again, between breaths, while whispering, “You smell so good, baby, and your lips are so soft.”
“…”
An Nuo really wanted to shut Lu Yunyan up.
Compared to the intimate physical contact, it was these words that made him even more flustered.
Baby.
No one had ever called him that before.
He didn’t understand how Lu Yunyan could say it so easily.
“Your pheromones are growing stronger, it’s the scent of peaches, so sweet… Do you like it when I kiss you like this?”
“…………”
“Say something nice to humor me, make me happy.”
“…………”
What could An Nuo say? Lu Yunyan hadn’t really given him a choice.
Every breath was filled with Lu Yunyan’s scent, their lips almost constantly pressed together. An Nuo could only seize the briefest moments to answer, against his instincts: “Mhm… I… I like it…”
Too ashamed to open his eyes.
His palm pressed to Lu Yunyan’s chest—in truth, when Lu Yunyan first kissed him, An Nuo had instinctively wanted to push him away.
But he was so overwhelmed by the atmosphere that, without realizing it, he ended up clutching Lu Yunyan’s clothes tightly.
Now, as Lu Yunyan let out a low chuckle, An Nuo could feel the subtle rumble in his chest through his palm.
Lu Yunyan’s voice was deep and raspy, his laughter quiet, but it carried genuine amusement.
He said, “You’re so sweet, baby, how are you so obedient?”
Doing whatever he was told, saying whatever he was asked to say.
An Nuo: “…”
His mind was still a mess, unable to discern whether Lu Yunyan’s words held any ulterior meaning.
“Since you shared so freely, I’ll tell you where my scent gland is too.”
Lu Yunyan finally stopped kissing him, giving An Nuo back his freedom to breathe.
But the two were still incredibly close, nose to nose, forehead to forehead, talking with the intimacy of lovers murmuring to each other.
Lu Yunyan took the hand An Nuo had pressed against his chest, enveloping it entirely in his larger palm, and pressed it down near his hip.
An Nuo's eyes went wide, and he tried to pull his hand back on instinct, but Lu Yunyan held it tightly.
"Right here."
"……"
An Nuo felt it was fine not to reciprocate; he didn't really care about knowing where Lu Yunyan’s gland was located.
He just found it burning to the touch.
"Pity we can’t check it out in the car right now."
"……"
No pity at all.
An Nuo didn't want to see it at all.
"I’ll let you see when we get home."
An Nuo closed his eyes, his palm burning, and finally burst out: "...You, stop talking!"
He admitted his preparations meant nothing.
All those confident assurances and self-convinced acceptance were utterly defeated by Lu Yunyan, falling apart completely, even at the verbal stage.
"You… you wanted to kiss, and you’ve kissed… you wanted to see, and you’ve seen… just, just stop talking!"
An Nuo lowered his head, wondering what look was on Lu Yunyan's face upon hearing this.
Most likely, it had zero effect.
Because he heard Lu Yunyan’s low chuckle again, seeming to be in a very good mood.
"Good boy, you’re so cute."
"Don’t say things like that so easily in the future," Lu Yunyan said. "Because hearing it only makes people want to tease you even more."
An Nuo: .
Damage: zero.
Usefulness: zero.
But the degree of bringing shame on himself reached a staggering one hundred percent.
……
In the end, An Nuo was lifted out of the car by Lu Yunyan.
By the time the two finally got out, the car had long been parked, and the driver was already gone.
An Nuo wasn't feeling unwell in any particular way—just deeply embarrassed. He needed time to adjust, and curling into himself made him feel safer.
The underground garage was silent, with no one around to see them, but the bright lights shining on his face made An Nuo instinctively cover his face.
He wished he could tuck his whole head inside Lu Yunyan’s jacket.
It wasn’t until the elevator stopped on the thirty-second floor, arriving at their "new home," that An Nuo finally relaxed, feeling secure that no one could see him.
Sensing someone had entered, the entire room lit up instantly.
"Retinal scan verified. Master, welcome home."
"Current room temperature is 21 degrees, humidity 74%, water temperature 40 degrees. All windows are closed. Would you like to open them?"
Lu Yunyan: "Open the living room windows."
"Understood, Master. Living room windows are now open."
Three household robots quickly gathered around, offering towels and indoor slippers, and even hanging up the clothes Lu Yunyan had taken off.
Lu Yunyan wiped his hands: "How are you finding these three robots?"
These were Lu Corp’s own products, new models planned for release in the second half of the year, specifically designed for household tasks.
Unlike companion robots, these household robots aren’t as intelligent and have limited communication skills, only operating within their programming.
The upside is their versatility, capable of handling and logging all sorts of tasks.
"...They’re quite good."
The three little robots worked from morning till night, keeping this spacious apartment perfectly clean.
You could set any task with a simple command, very convenient, and they’d even locate their charging stations on their own after finishing work.
It was just too quiet.
Aside from the occasional visits from a live-in nutritionist, they didn’t need any other help at home.
Living in a big place was comfortable, no doubt, but being alone made it too quiet.
At times, An Nuo would suddenly feel a sense of panic, as if he’d been forgotten by the entire world.
"Are you used to living here?"
An Nuo felt he should say he was used to it, so he wouldn’t seem like a burden to Lu Yunyan.
But the truth was, he wasn’t used to it, and he couldn’t bring himself to lie.
"It’s very nice here... it’s just too big. Being alone here feels kind of a waste..."
So in the end, he didn’t answer whether he was used to it or not, opting instead to share his true feelings.
Hopefully, they could move to a smaller place.
An Nuo thought to himself that Lu Yunyan must own more than one property—moving to a smaller place wouldn’t be difficult for him.
But then Lu Yunyan said: "Right. Then I’ll come home more often to spend time with you."
An Nuo: .
An Nuo: ???
Brother?
Were they really on the same page?
But before he could say more, An Nuo's phone suddenly rang—it was a call from his family.
The ringing and vibration felt jarring in the quiet surroundings. An Nuo glanced at the screen and didn't hesitate to hang up.
Lu Yunyan noticed his frown and asked perceptively, "A call from home?"
"...Yeah."
His family had been trying to reach him these past few days, but An Nuo hadn’t paid much attention, only replying with a few dismissive texts.
He didn’t want Lu Yunyan to know about this.
But the quiet lasted only a few seconds before the next call quickly came through, as if they were trying to blow up his phone.
Just as An Nuo was about to hang up again, Lu Yunyan extended his hand: "Give me the phone, I’ll answer it."
An Nuo froze: "But they—"
—just want to reach you through me.
"It’s fine, I know. Let me handle it."
The phone was put on speaker. As soon as Lu Yunyan answered, An's father's voice burst out: "You think your wings have hardened now, huh? You don’t reply to messages, you don’t answer calls—do you really think you're so capable?!"
An Nuo felt humiliated.
Even though Lu Yunyan already knew about this, witnessing it directly was still humiliating.
"You really think just because you married Lu Yunyan, everything will be worry-free? You don’t even care about this family anymore?"
"You’re so foolish!"
"Not even a wedding, getting married sneakily—do you really think you have someone to rely on now?!"
"Why aren’t you saying anything! What's with the silence?!"
Lu Yunyan spoke in a low voice: "It’s me, Lu Yunyan."
The arrogance on the other end of the line instantly vanished, replaced by complete silence.
"Mr. An, out of respect for Nuo Nuo (a term of endearment), I’ll call you 'sir.'"
"I don’t know how you treated him when he was your child, but now he's under my protection. I won’t allow you to speak to my person in this manner."
As embarrassing as it was, An Nuo hadn't miscalculated.
Lu Yunyan really was a formidable weapon.
