Chapter 35 Fitting the Wedding Attire Personally
byChapter 35: Trying on the Outfits in Person
This was a set of antique jewelry.
It was the first set of jewelry Zhou Yu’s grandfather had custom-made for his wife after establishing his fortune. Only after this was Cassi founded as an independent brand. These gems could truly be considered foundational pieces.
Over the years, this jewelry set had remained in the old chairman’s private collection—never loaned, never exhibited, and certainly never sold. Consequently, it had never been appraised on the market.
After the old chairman passed away, it must have been passed down to Zhou Yu as part of the estate.
Lin Yunshu had only seen pictures of it in the company’s corporate culture brochure when he first joined.
"What are you doing taking this out?" he asked, utterly shocked.
But Zhou Yu immediately replied, "I'm giving it to you."
Lin Yunshu: "???"
"Have you lost your mind?" He quickly pulled Zhou Yu aside. "This isn’t just any jewelry—it carries profound meaning."
"However meaningful it may be, it was still a gift from a person," Zhou Yu said.
He slipped an arm around Lin Yunshu’s shoulders and led him back. "When my grandfather handed these to me, he told me to give them to my beloved."
"But—"
"No matter how exquisite the jewelry, if it isn’t worn by the right person, it’s just a pile of stones—at best, slightly prettier than those found on the roadside."
"Who said you have to wear it outside?" Zhou Yu suddenly asserted. "Are those people outside even worthy of seeing it?"
Lin Yunshu: "...?"
He was genuinely bewildered.
Zhou Yu leaned in, whispering close to his ear: "We’ll keep this private. At night, you can wear them for me, just for me—alone!"
Lin Yunshu kicked him squarely in the shin: "I won't!"
And here he had been genuinely surprised for a moment.
It just goes to show—you really can’t harbor any illusions about Zhou Yu. This person simply has no sense of propriety!
He waved to the store manager. "Please put these away for now. Let’s go take a look at the wedding rings."
The store manager instinctively glanced at Zhou Yu.
"Listen to him," Zhou Yu said, taking half a step back to stand behind Lin Yunshu. "Whatever he says, goes."
"Understood," the store manager said with a slight bow, lowering her head to hide a smile. "I’ll get them right away."
She quickly left, not forgetting to signal the other staff to follow her and not linger as unwanted observers.
The junior staff were sharp and immediately understood, following the store manager out and discreetly locking the door behind them.
Lin Yunshu heaved a long sigh and turned to glare at Zhou Yu.
He truly was at his wit's end with this person.
Lin Yunshu considered himself quite adept at dealing with people—whether reasonable or not, he could always find a way to get along and handle even the most explosive tempers with grace.
But now Zhou Yu had changed his approach.
Every day, he came up with outlandish antics that no reasonable person could possibly counter.
"You really are…"
He didn’t even know what to say.
"What’s wrong?" Zhou Yu came over to hug him.
Lin Yunshu shied away, maintaining a social distance.
Zhou Yu directly closed the distance completely, coming over to cup his face and give him a kiss.
"Smack!~~"
A loud smack.
Lin Yunshu immediately jumped back, his whole body on edge like a startled rabbit as he covered his cheek.
His ears were turning crimson, and his large, shiny eyes occasionally darted glances at the tightly shut door—his thin skin both pitiable and adorable.
"Don’t worry, they can’t hear outside."
Zhou Yu gently pulled him into an embrace, rubbing his back soothingly. "Alright, alright, I’ll stop teasing you. Breathe slowly—your health isn’t great to begin with, no need to get yourself agitated."
"Did I choose to get worked up?!" Lin Yunshu retorted irritably.
He hadn’t held back, and the words came out a little too loud, sounding quite sharp.
Zhou Yu’s brow twitched, but then he actually laughed.
"Just like that."
"What?" Lin Yunshu didn’t understand.
Zhou Yu touched his flushed ear. "From now on, just speak like this. Get angry when you want, be happy when you want, scold me if you feel like it, boss me around as you please—I’m happy to do it."
Lin Yunshu’s eyelashes fluttered, and half of his anger suddenly dissipated.
He lowered his head somewhat uncomfortably, leaving only a glimpse of his flushed profile. "What nonsense are you talking again…"
·
In the end, the two settled down properly.
The store manager brought in the wedding rings, placing two beautiful red velvet boxes in front of them.
"Here are the custom wedding rings for you both," the store manager said, wearing black gloves. "Shall I help you try them on?"
"No need, we can handle it ourselves," Zhou Yu said.
"Very well," the store manager replied, then stood up and stepped aside.
In comparison, the wedding rings were much more understated, suitable for daily wear, without being covered in gems.
Zhou Yu had actually wanted to adorn Lin Yunshu in gold and large diamonds, but since Lin Yunshu firmly refused, he reluctantly gave in.
He held the ring up to Lin Yunshu's hand to see how it looked.
Lin Yunshu had beautiful hands—anything looked good on them. The simple design of the ring accentuated his elegant aura, making his fingers appear like pale jade.
Zhou Yu held Lin Yunshu's wrist, admiring them repeatedly before reluctantly putting the ring back.
They would have to wait until the wedding day, after exchanging vows and rings amid cheers, to share a kiss.
The thought of that scene gave Zhou Yu the courage to wait.
He never realized before how much he valued ceremonial aspects.
After trying on the rings, the two moved on to trying on their wedding outfits.
They had prepared five formal outfits and two backups. After trying them on, they would see if any tailoring was needed based on their measurements.
When the rows of outfits were brought out, Zhou Yu’s eyes lit up.
He could hardly imagine how blissful he'd feel, as an alpha, watching Lin Yunshu try on each outfit and spin for him.
Lin Yunshu let out a long sigh.
He clapped his hands and said with resolve, “Alright, let’s get this over with quickly.”
His determined look reminded Zhou Yu of the days when Lin Yunshu stayed up late working on projects.
Zhou Yu, lost in his fantasy: “…”
The fantasy shattered.
Lin Yunshu had already shifted into battle mode.
He figured it would take only half an hour to try on all seven outfits.
…
Two hours later, Lin Yunshu collapsed onto the sofa, aching and exhausted, seeing stars from sheer fatigue.
“How many are left?” he asked weakly.
Zhou Yu gently rubbed his back. “Just the two backup outfits.”
Two outfits…
Two!
Lin Yunshu’s temples throbbed, and he shook his head vigorously.
He had miscalculated.
He thought a marriage of convenience would be simple—just signing the papers, obtaining the certificate, and holding a decent public ceremony.
But now, even before the wedding, he was already worn out from fittings.
Men’s clothing—shirts, vests, suits—wasn’t much different from what he usually wore. Why was trying them on so exhausting?
Lin Yunshu felt as though his back was about to break. Hunching over slightly, he leaned on the sofa armrest, catching his breath.
Zhou Yu drew him into an embrace, holding his lower back with one hand while gently tucking back the stray hairs at his temples. “Tired?”
Lin Yunshu lifted his eyelids to glance at him. “Aren’t you tired?”
“Not at all,” Zhou Yu replied, fanning him with his hand and offering him a sip of water. “I’m still energetic.”
Lin Yunshu raised an eyebrow, both puzzled and envious as he watched Zhou Yu moving around with boundless energy.
Not only was Zhou Yu not tired—he seemed even more energized with each outfit change.
Every time Lin Yunshu changed, Zhou Yu went into the fitting room with him, watching as he took off his clothes piece by piece, revealing his fair shoulders, lean chest, and slim waist.
Every suit looked stunning on Lin Yunshu.
Lin Yunshu had always been subtle and reserved, a trait reflected in his wardrobe, which was full of whites, grays, and tans.
Even a simple blue jacket could make Zhou Yu’s heart flutter uncontrollably.
Now, faced with what felt like a real-life dress-up session, Zhou Yu was completely mesmerized. He sent all the staff away and personally helped Lin Yunshu into each suit, tying his bowtie and selecting accessories.
For a moment, he seemed to understand why his female classmates in childhood had been so fond of dressing up Barbie dolls.
But Lin Yunshu was no doll—he was a living person, one who tired easily and was quite delicate.
After trying on five outfits, Lin Yunshu’s skin had started to redden slightly. He sank into the sofa, resting weakly against Zhou Yu’s shoulder.
Zhou Yu wrapped an arm around him, patting his back gently. “Are you feeling a bit low blood sugar, sweetheart?”
“I don’t think so,” Lin Yunshu said softly, frowning slightly. “I just need to sit for a bit. We still have two more outfits to go—let’s finish quickly.”
“No hurry,” Zhou Yu said, touching his lips. “Your lips are white. Aren’t you dizzy?”
Lin Yunshu paused for a few seconds before opening his eyes. Sure enough, his head was spinning, and everything looked blurry.
Was it really low blood sugar?
That shouldn’t be the case…
He admitted that his stamina wasn’t what it used to be, but it shouldn’t have deteriorated to the point where trying on a few outfits would cause low blood sugar. Wasn’t that a bit exaggerated?
*Knock, knock.*
The door to the VIP room opened, and the store manager stepped in respectfully. “Mr. Zhou, you called for me?”
Zhou Yu waved a hand, signaling him to skip the formalities. “Bring some cake and hot water, quickly.”
The manager’s gaze briefly swept over the person in Zhou Yu’s arms before he lowered his head. “Right away.”
The cake was soon brought in. Zhou Yu supported Lin Yunshu’s back, helping him sit up. “Here, have a bite to eat, okay?”
Lin Yunshu felt intensely dizzy, accompanied by bouts of heart palpitations.
He bit his lower lip lightly, trying to recover, and straightened up with difficulty, his hand instinctively resting on Zhou Yu’s forearm.
Zhou Yu squeezed his hand gently and drew him closer into his embrace.
“It’s alright,” he reassured. “A little cake will help.”
Lin Yunshu nodded, and the sweet smell of chocolate soon reached his nose.
It was a chocolate cake. Zhou Yu brought a spoonful to his mouth, his eyes bright and attentive.
Lin Yunshu's eyebrows furrowed slightly, but he said nothing and opened his mouth to accept it.
After about four or five bites, Zhou Yu observed Lin Yunshu's expression, put down the spoon, and gently rubbed his back with his palm.
"Take it easy. Feeling better?"
The chocolate cake wouldn't take effect that quickly. Lin Yunshu's head still felt heavy, but the palpitations had eased considerably.
"I'm fine," he said, pressing his lips together and giving Zhou Yu a faint smile.
"Good," Zhou Yu wiped the cold sweat from his temple, then said, "Just sit for a few more minutes, then we'll go home."
"There are still two outfits left to try," Lin Yunshu murmured.
Lin Yunshu opened his mouth but ultimately chose not to push himself.
"Alright," he said softly.
"Good boy," Zhou Yu rubbed his head, then stood up and quickly stepped into the lounge.
Five minutes later, when he came out after changing clothes, Lin Yunshu had already fallen asleep on the sofa.
His shirt wasn't properly buttoned, hanging loosely on him and revealing large stretches of his collarbone.
Zhou Yu walked over, wrapped him in his own coat, bent down, slid an arm under his knees, and gently lifted him steadily.
