Chapter 33
byChapter 33
Half an hour later, when Nathan arrived at the laboratory with his security team, all he saw was a vast expanse of yellow sand and a massive ice sphere jutting abruptly amidst it.
The ice sphere was as tall as a five or six-story building, crystalline but opaque, resembling a moon fallen into the desert.
Nathan’s expression changed drastically. Just as he was about to investigate, a burning pain shot through the gland at his neck, and a series of predatory growls echoed in his ears.
“Pull back! Everyone, retreat!” Nathan ordered, trembling as his guards supported him. The others scrambled and stumbled backward away from the giant sphere in panic.
“What… what is this?” a bodyguard asked, his face filled with terror. As a beta, he couldn’t smell the pheromones, but the menacing wolf’s roar was unmistakably clear.
Aliens?!
It wasn’t until everyone had retreated a kilometer away that the scorching, oppressive pressure gradually faded. Their ears continued to ring, and some weaker alphas even had ruptured eardrums that were bleeding. Nathan wasn’t much better off, though a cool sensation had protected him amidst the wolf’s pheromones.
It was Shen Hui’s scent, but softer than usual, not as icy, reminiscent of a freshly fallen, fluffy snowdrift.
Yet this gentle aura intertwined seamlessly with the domineering wolf’s roar, forming a natural harmony.
There could only be one explanation: the two were now in their bonding cycle.
That made Yan Gui’s ferocious warning seem entirely reasonable. But since the ice sphere was clearly Shen Hui’s doing, what exactly had happened earlier?
The only person who could answer that question was encased within the giant sphere’s icy surface.
Shen Hui frowned, curled up against the ice. His clothes had long been torn to shreds and discarded by the Wolf King. The cold surface made him instinctively seek warmth, but the slightest movement sent aches through his body, leaving him utterly helpless.
Fortunately, the heat source behind him considerately drew closer, burying him entirely in soft, thick fur, shielding him from the icy ground.
Wrapped in warmth, Shen Hui was about to drift back to sleep when a rough, wet tongue began licking the gland at the back of his neck, demanding more pheromones. At first, he could tolerate it, wanting only to rest, but the tongue grew increasingly insistent, tracing downward along his sensitive nerves.
Shen Hui had had enough. He swung his arm back blindly but only touched soft wolf fur. The Wolf King promptly licked his palm, fully waking him.
He sat up and found himself buried in the Wolf King’s soft underbelly. The wolf stared at him intently, alert and energetic.
Shen Hui let out a long sigh, his hazy mind finally recalling the events.
Half an hour ago, he’d only managed to save Yang Bai and the other person, but he himself had been pinned down by Yan Gui in wolf form, helpless beneath him.
An alpha in a frenzied state would want to kill every living creature in sight—except their own omega, whom they would only want to mate with aggressively.
The Wolf King, devoid of reason, pressed Shen Hui down, intent on playing out a beastly scene. Against such absolute strength, Shen Hui was powerless, held down firmly and licked from head to toe.
Covered in the alpha’s pheromones, his enticing state drove the Wolf King wild with desperation, eager to savor his omega.
The full wolf form meant every part of the body was fully transformed and scaled up proportionally.
The moment he felt it, Shen Hui paled, gritting his teeth and shaking his head desperately. “Yan Gui! Calm down! Yan Gui!”
The Wolf King’s scorching breath washed over his face, his crimson eyes completely dominated by instinct, wanting only to devour him, to keep him entirely to himself.
“Ah—!”
With just that contact, Shen Hui cried out, his face pale and covered in cold sweat. Clenching his jaw, he spoke word by word, “I said… no!”
In an instant, the Wolf King felt a chilling cold—literally. Confused, he looked down and saw not his proud anatomy but an icy shackle emitting cold air.
The Wolf King blinked, tilting his head with a confused whimper.
Finally able to catch his breath, Shen Hui considered taking Yan Gui back to the hotel. Though he didn’t know how Yan Gui had been exposed to the gene fusion agent or sent into rut, it was clear this wouldn’t be resolved without a full week.
But looking around, there was nothing but endless yellow sand, and he was now stripped bare and utterly exposed, without a stitch of clothing.
The thought of Nathan finding them made Shen Hui scowl, and he glared at the culprit.
His action had frozen the Wolf King’s gaze clear. Now, with one hind leg lifted, the wolf licked the ice shackle, only to have its tongue stick to the ice. Frustrated, it whimpered and circled like a purebred Siberian husky trapped in a fence, kicking up a cloud of sand.
Shen Hui got a face full of sand and suddenly felt a bit helpless.
But Butler Shen had always valued his dignity and would never allow himself to be caught naked in public. Compared to that, he’d rather have an outdoor encounter with Yan Gui.
Shen Hui pictured the scene and immediately dismissed both ideas.
Nearby, the Wolf King finally freed its tongue and pounced on its omega, craved the icy-cold pheromones.
Frustrated without its primary means, it began frantically licking Shen Hui. The omega’s entire body emitted an irresistible scent, making the Wolf King’s throat dry with desire—for his pheromones, his saliva, his…
Instinctively, the Wolf King lowered its head, hoping to soothe its hunger by pleasing its mate.
Shen Hui tensed instantly. The Wolf King’s tongue was rough and covered in tiny, rasping barbs, bringing unbearable agony with just one lick. “Stop…”
But his instincts betrayed him, yielding to the Wolf King. The sharp pain brought sensations entirely different from before. He tried to push away, but his wrists were pinned.
The Wolf King retracted its claws into its paws, its long, dense fur brushing against Shen Hui’s palm, becoming unbearable.
Every second was a mix of pain and pleasure, shattering Shen Hui’s rationality until he touched the hard fangs.
The beast’s aura enveloped him completely, triggering primal human fear and making him tremble. Bursts of white light exploded before his eyes.
The Wolf King, satisfied, licked its lips, its pupils narrowing with satisfaction.
But momentary satisfaction only bred greater emptiness and craving, so it redoubled its efforts to overwhelm his omega.
…
Before losing consciousness, Shen Hui mustered his last shred of rationality and conjured this massive ice sphere with his bare hands, encapsulating himself and the Wolf King, avoiding a scene like the scandalous tale of Sun Answer and her wild lover.
Recalling the entire ordeal, Shen Hui felt like slapping the Wolf King again, but he was weak and drained; even sitting upright made his back ache. A slap might just be taken as a reward.
“Move aside,” he said weakly, pushing against the Wolf King’s back to stand and survey the ice sphere. Aside from the relatively flat area where he and Yan Gui were, the bottom of the sphere had already been warmed by the Wolf King’s heat into a small pool. He reached out and stirred it—it was warm.
Without hesitation, he slid in to wash off the sticky sweat, feeling thoroughly uncomfortable.
The Wolf King, only half-satiated and not fond of water, waited obediently on the shore.
“Are you clear-headed now?” Shen Hui asked, his back turned, his tone lazy from the warm water.
The Wolf King watched the clear lines of his butterfly bones and spine, feeling its throat dry again. Perhaps due to absorbing power or the awakening of human consciousness, it was no longer as massive as before, now only slightly larger than a zoo wolf, standing about as tall as a person.
It didn’t answer Shen Hui. Instead, when he returned to the shore, it suddenly pounced, pinning him to the ice.
“What are you doing?!” Shen Hui exclaimed, taken by surprise as he was pressed facedown on the ice. The Wolf King pressed down on him, its claws extending and retracting excitedly against his spine, leaving several suggestive marks.
“Are you hungry?” the Wolf King lowered its large head, its fangs grazing his damp hair and earlobe, watching as a flush spread across his skin.
Though it was Yan Gui’s voice, it carried a guttural, beast-like tone, making one feel utterly trapped. “Your husband will take care of you.”
"Get lost!" Shen Hui cursed in anger, pushing him away forcefully as he tried to sit up, only to be pinned down again. "You're clearly awake now! Change back, now!"
The Wolf King's gaze was cruel and raging: "No, without enough soothing pheromones, I can't do it."
Shen Hui sensed he was lying, but he had already missed the best chance to resist, leaving him no choice but to let the Wolf King have his way.
The interior of the ice sphere gradually melted under the Wolf King's scorching pheromones, dripping like a belated spring rain, pooling at the bottom and slowly submerging his tense muscles.
The omega's whimpers and gasps turned into the sound of dripping ripples.
...
By the time night fell once more, the massive ice sphere had quietly melted away, vanishing into the desert.
Yan Gui, holding the unconscious Shen Hui in his arms, stood barefoot in the desert. The surroundings were silent, but his keen hearing detected people camped about a kilometer away.
Yet, still in the throes of his rut, he had no desire to share Shen Hui's pheromones with anyone—not even the faint traces lingering in the air.
Shen Hui was utterly exhausted but slept fitfully, his brow furrowed and his fingers unconsciously clenched into fists.
He wore a smile that seemed tender, but his eyes remained cold and cruel. "Just endure it. This time, without my permission, don't even think about waking up on your own."
Perhaps stirred by the chill of the outside world, Shen Hui tilted his head and nuzzled into the crook of Yan Gui's neck.
It was like a fishbone stuck in his throat, leaving him deeply unsettled.
"We still have plenty of time," he murmured, cruel yet intimate, as he pressed closer to Shen Hui's cheek.
"We can settle the score slowly."
