Chapter 6 Kill Whoever Tries to Kill Me First
byChapter 6: I'll Kill My Killers First
"I am the Princess Consort, the mistress of Prince Ye's estate, while you are merely a servant here. Not only can I beat you, but even if I were to sell you off, who would dare object?"
"You, the daughter of a lowly maid, actually dare to throw your weight around in Prince Ye's estate, acting all high and mighty with borrowed authority? The estate provides you with food and clothing, and you really think you're a mistress now?"
The phrase "daughter of a lowly maid" struck a nerve with Liu Linlang. Though she came from a humble background, her mother had once saved Prince Ye's life, which had raised her standing in the estate over the years.
But now, how dare Ji Yuntang insult her like this?
Bi Chi was beside herself with worry but dared not step forward to break it up, fearing she would get beaten again.
Her eyes darted around, and she quietly slipped out through the door to go and alert Nanny Xu.
Ji Yuntang noticed but didn't stop her. She continued slapping Liu Linlang left and right, delivering over twenty blows in a row, venting all her pent-up anger.
Her gaze swept over the jewelry adorning Liu Linlang, and Ji Yuntang yanked the hairpin and earrings right off her head.
"Picking a fight with me today? You're out of luck!"
Liu Linlang was beaten black and blue by Ji Yuntang's wild, unrestrained assault, unable to fight back at all. Suddenly, a sharp pain shot through her earlobe, jolting her back to her senses. Only then did she realize her beloved jewelry had been snatched away.
"Ah, those are mine! Give them back, you bitch!"
Liu Linlang reached out to grab them, but Ji Yuntang punched her hard in the nose, drawing blood. Holding the jewelry in her hand, Ji Yuntang sneered.
"If I'm not mistaken, this jade dragon gold hairpin and silver filigree earrings you're wearing are accessories reserved for the Princess Consort. As a servant, if you didn't steal them, you could never afford such things in your lifetime. Do you believe I won't have you arrested and dragged to the magistrate this instant?"
Upon receiving Bi Chi's message, Nanny Xu immediately rushed over with the household servants. Before she even stepped into the courtyard, she heard Ji Yuntang's words, and her aged face instantly turned cold.
The jewelry set Liu Linlang wore consisted of five pieces in total: a cloud-and-flower hairpiece, a gold-inlaid river pearl necklace, and a gemstone double-dragon patterned bracelet. All of them were sent by the Emperor as gifts for the Princess of Ye.
Seeing how much Liu Linlang liked them, Nanny Xu had delivered the entire set to Liu Linlang's courtyard.
Her daughter naturally deserved the finest jewelry in the world. What did it matter if the Princess of Ye, who might not even live for a few more days, had any claim to them?
Not to mention, Ji Yuntang was just a country bumpkin, unloved by the Marquis Yongning's household. She had even less right to use such fine things.
Out of the corner of her eye, Liu Linlang caught sight of Nanny Xu's figure. Summoning strength from who knows where, she pushed Ji Yuntang away and scrambled on all fours toward Nanny Xu.
"Mother, save me, Mother! I'm about to be beaten to death by this bitch!"
Nanny Xu: "!!!"
Staring at the suddenly appearing, ghastly, unrecognizable face before her, she nearly lost her soul from fright.
Her voice trembled like a sieve. "You... you're Lin Lang?"
Liu Linlang wept and wailed, her face smeared with snot and blood. "Mother, don't you recognize your own daughter anymore?"
"It's all because of that bitch Ji Yuntang who beat me like this. Mother, you must avenge me. I want to kill her."
Nanny Xu looked at her disfigured daughter, her expression one of sheer horror.
Liu Linlang's once delicate and pretty face was now bruised and swollen. Her large, fluttering eyes were swollen into slits. Blood streamed from her nose, mouth, and even her ears—a truly pitiful sight.
Furious, Nanny Xu's plump, fleshy face flushed crimson. She stomped her foot hard, causing the bluestone floor to tremble twice.
"Guards! Beat the Princess of Ye to death for me! I'll teach this insolent little bitch a lesson she won't forget."
Ji Yuntang glanced at Nanny Xu's rotund, ball-like body and curled her lips in mockery.
"You old hag sure have a big mouth. You eat and live off the Prince's estate, yet you dare to strike your own mistress? Did the darkness of the sewers breed such ill-mannered shallowness in you?"
As soon as she finished speaking, six household servants charged at Ji Yuntang, swinging their fists. Ji Yuntang kicked one squarely in the chest, sending him flying two meters away, then swiftly spun around with a roundhouse kick, knocking two others to the ground.
Then, something miraculous happened.
The next second, everyone saw a one-meter-long broadsword appear out of thin air in her hand, its blade sharp and whistling through the air.
She swung her right arm, brandishing the broadsword and began hacking at the men.
With one slash, blood sprayed wildly.
"!!!!!"
Everyone was stunned!
They stared at Ji Yuntang in the courtyard, her face splattered with blood yet wearing a faint, serene smile. Fear flickered in their eyes.
Who would have thought this seemingly frail young girl could kill without batting an eye?
Where did this female maniac come from?
The situation, which had initially been about bullying the weak with numbers, was now completely reversed. The household servants were being chased around the courtyard by Ji Yuntang alone, scrambling in all directions.
The broadsword in her hand whistled through the air, cutting down anyone in her path.
Nanny Xu, a woman confined to the inner chambers, had never witnessed such a reckless, life-threatening fighting style. She was so terrified she wet herself on the spot.
"P-Princess Ye, I am His Highness's lifesaver! How dare you kill me?"
"Even if you have a sky-high debt of gratitude toward my Prince, over a decade of food, shelter, and care, along with your daughter's living expenses, Prince Ye should have repaid it all by now."
Ji Yuntang's eyes turned cold. She leisurely wiped the blood from her fingers, one by one, with a handkerchief, then took out some alcohol from her space and sprayed it on her hands.
Then she smiled. "I, the Princess Consort, have only this one life. No one cares for it, no one pities it. Since marrying into this family, I've been bound to your Prince. If anyone wants to kill me, then I have no choice but to kill them first."
"If you're not afraid of death, then come and try. Let's see whose skull is harder—yours or the broadsword in my hand."
Nanny Xu glanced at the corpses lying haphazardly on the ground. In the short span of time it takes for an incense stick to burn, all six household servants had died at Ji Yuntang's hands.
This was no delicate, frail woman. This was a murderous she-devil who killed without blinking.
Nanny Xu couldn't help but curse inwardly. Her subordinates were truly useless. Why was the information they gathered so completely different from reality?
Weren't they all saying Ji Yuntang was inherently weak, timid as a mouse, and wouldn't dare fight back even if beaten or scolded?
If she was timid and weak, then there probably wasn't a brave woman left in the world.
But the problem was, she had no recourse.
No matter how unloved Ji Yuntang was, she was still the mistress of Prince Ye's estate, while Nanny Xu herself was merely a servant. It was perfectly normal for a mistress to discipline servants or kill a few disobedient underlings.
It seemed she could only wait for an opportunity to complain to the Prince once he woke up.
Thinking this, Nanny Xu's voice involuntarily softened a little.
"His Highness Prince Ye is kind-hearted and willing to provide for this servant and her daughter. What does that have to do with you, Princess?"
