Chapter 31: The Past, The Cause of Blindness

A slight smile touched Ji Yuntang's lips as her thoughts drifted back to her previous life, back when she was studying medicine.

During that time, there was an outstanding doctoral supervisor and academician whose medical skills were exceptional. He was the person she felt most grateful to in her life.

Sadly, she didn't even get to see her mentor one last time.

Ji Yuntang's smile held a touch of bitterness. "I learned from my mentor, who was an excellent cook. I used to go to his house for meals often, and over time, I picked it up."

Luo Junhe hadn't heard the term "mentor" before, but he understood it likely meant "master." He felt a twinge in his heart. "He sounds like a remarkable person."

To have taught Ji Yuntang so well, how extraordinary must her master's abilities have been?

Ji Yuntang smiled softly. "Yes, all my medical skills were learned from him."

Ji Yuntang suddenly remembered something and turned to Luo Junhe.

"A He, would you like me to take a look at your eyes?"

"Alright then, I'll trouble you, A Tang."

No longer resistant as before, and having experienced her miraculous medical skills firsthand, Luo Junhe became surprisingly cooperative.

He also wanted to open his eyes and see for himself just how outstanding the Little Princess Consort he had married was.

After dinner, Ji Yuntang took Luo Junhe back into the hospital within her space.

She changed into a white coat, put on medical gloves and a mask, and sat down beside the computer, looking completely professional.

"A He, how long have you been blind?"

Luo Junhe's thin lips parted slightly. "Three years."

"This prince still remembers, three years ago was the last time I led troops into battle. My father, the Emperor, only gave me two thousand elite soldiers to face the enemy's thirty thousand troops. To recapture the five cities occupied by the Western Barbarians, this prince devised a flawless plan. I had one thousand nine hundred men lie in ambush on the mountain, while I led a hundred men to infiltrate the enemy camp under cover of darkness and burn their provisions."

"But what this prince failed to anticipate was that there was a spy within our own ranks. On my way back, I was ambushed from the mountain. Falling rocks crushed my legs and struck my head. Since then, my vision has been blurry."

"I completely lost my sight two months later, at a palace Mid-Autumn Festival banquet. The palace held a feast, requiring all princes and princesses to attend, including this bedridden cripple of a prince."

"The Mid-Autumn banquet was bustling with activity, but it had little to do with this useless prince. Although I had no desire to attend, I could not defy the Emperor's command."

"This prince remembers clearly, I did not drink any wine that day. I only ate some pastries brought by a palace maid, and then my consciousness became unclear. When I opened my eyes again, I was awakened by a fire. Thick smoke choked my mouth and nose, and I wanted to call for help but couldn't make a sound."

"At that time, this prince had only one thought: I cannot die, I must survive. Holding onto that mindset, I rushed out of the sea of fire, but my face was burned and my eyes were blinded. The imperial physicians in the palace all said to prepare for the funeral."

"From then on, my father abandoned me, my mother came to despise me, and even my own sister turned her back on me. On the surface, they showed concern for this prince, claiming to have sacrificed much for me. But in reality, for three years, none of them ever visited the Night Prince's Mansion to see me. Even if they sent greetings, it was only through messages delivered by Nanny Xu. This manner of interaction felt alien to me."

"During these three years I've been paralyzed in bed, only my eighth brother, Luo Sinian, has stayed by my side, offering me support and care. It was precisely because of his encouragement that I managed to survive, until I met you."

Luo Junhe spoke with a light, detached tone, but Ji Yuntang knew he had endured many inhuman hardships over these three years.

A War God Prince who led armies into battle, undefeated, had fallen overnight to become a living corpse, paralyzed in bed with only his neck able to move, abandoned by his own father.

    What did this mean?

It meant that in Emperor Jingyang's eyes, Luo Junhe no longer held any value.

A biological son, bound by blood, who had shed blood and tears on the battlefield, fighting for him, had ended up in such a state. It showed just how heartless the imperial clan could be.

Ji Yuntang sighed inwardly, also feeling it was unjust for Luo Junhe.

In some ways, they shared similarities; both were pitiful souls abandoned by their birth parents.

Ji Yuntang pulled her thoughts back and helped Luo Junhe sit up properly. "A He, let me give you an examination first."

She used a slit lamp to examine his fundus and then measured his intraocular pressure, finding no issues with either.

Ji Yuntang proceeded to perform a cranial imaging examination on Luo Junhe. She estimated his blindness was caused by a head injury from a heavy object, compounded by being exposed to the thick smoke of the fire, which burned the skin on his face. It was likely due to a blood clot in his brain, pressing on nerves or the retina.

The final report showed that there was indeed a blood clot in Luo Junhe's brain, about the size of an infant's fist.

Ji Yuntang recalled the traditional Chinese acupuncture she had learned from her mentor in her previous life. Chinese medicine is vast and profound, with a heritage spanning thousands of years.

Its knowledge and achievements are no less than those of modern medicine.

Now that Ji Yuntang knew the cause of Luo Junhe's blindness, she could begin targeted treatment and administer acupuncture.

Alongside the acupuncture, she would also use her specially formulated eye drops, which would double the efficacy.

"A He, starting today, I will give you acupuncture every morning to help dissolve the accumulated blood clot in your brain. I believe that in less than three months, you will be able to see again."

Luo Junhe shuddered. "A Tang, are you serious? Can my eyes really see again?"

He couldn't help but feel astonished. After all, blindness was considered an incurable disease in ancient times. Even the world-renowned Ghost Doctor wouldn't dare guarantee he could cure someone's eyes.

Yet his Little Princess Consort was so confident about this matter, showing just how formidable Ji Yuntang truly was.

"If I say it can be done, then it can be done. Not just your eyes, but eventually your legs, your face, and your martial arts can all be restored to their original state."

"A He, by that time, you'll be able to do whatever you want, just like a normal person."

Luo Junhe felt a surge of excitement. If anyone else had told him this, he wouldn't have believed it.

But since these words came from Ji Yuntang's mouth, Luo Junhe believed she was absolutely not exaggerating.

She fed him medicine every day. That medicine was different from the dark, bitter decoctions he had taken before. What Ji Yuntang gave him was in powdered form, some with a slightly sweet taste.

Most importantly, the effects after taking it were excellent. Luo Junhe could feel his body changing every day.

    Especially...
